New England Patriots vs. New York Jets 2010

Texn4life

All Pro
In week 13 of the 2010 season the New York Jets went into Foxboro on MNF and were run off of the field 45-3 in a game where they were outclassed in every phase of the game. Sound familiar so far? 6 weeks later they went onto the same field and beat that same team 28-21 in the divisional round.

Listen, we are going to be big underdogs similar to what the Jets were in the 2010 season, but we are capable of beating the Patriots. This isn't soccer where they take scores from previous games. The score will start off 0-0 and they will need to beat us. I'm going to stop short of saying we WILL win the game, but I believe in every ounce of my being that we CAN win this game. I'm a big believer in history repeating itself, and hopefully we can follow the same path of the Jets that year.

as long as the offense shows we have a chance. our defense stands a chance vs brady and manning as long as the offense does its job!

did i say offense needs to show up??????????

I feel like we'll gameplan 20x better. They also get Gronkowski back so we'll have to especially keep an eye on him.

you left out the fact they did it with Mark Sanchez at QB....

Just put yourself in the position and give it a chance. We did that.

The superbowl loser curse will take care of the rest :fostering:

Good point, even though Schaub has looked a little Sanchiz-ish the last few weeks at times.

But this would be a good week for Kubiak to approach this game like Jim Fassel years ago, and let the world know he's “shoving my chips to the center of the table”.

Yep. We are very capable of being able to beat the Pats. I don't think we will, but I'll be rooting our boys on. Losing a playoff game to the Pats isn't exactly doomsday if it happens either. But we have momentum that we can build. All that matters is next week.

Sometimes going into a game as big underdogs causes a team to much as a much looser group so there's no doubt in my mind we'll be much more prepared to play. I'm riding with this team no matter what so I'll go into any game thinking we have a good chance.

So will I! People forget that the Giants lost to the Patriots in the season in their first SB win over the Patriots. It can be done. None of the end of the season struggles matter at this point. All that matters is who plays better next weekend. That's the bottom line. Go Texans!! :fans:

Lol giants score and Texans score your referring to lol again

Remember when Kubiak started to tease us? We'd just hope to make the playoffs and Manning still owned the divison?

Remember the games we DID beat Manning? Usually he would sit watching Foster run for another huge gain as the Texans wind down a 6+ minute drive.

That is the formula for beating these guys. The defense was even terrible then, our defense will get some stops but it's all about the running game and keeping Brady off the field and cold.

Anybody notice a trend? I do.

The people who think they're God's gift to Fandom are creating threads and talking MASSIVE amounts of **** to those they deem to be losers who don't root for the team.

What a sad 49 year old you are! lol..... You just made my night.

I'd rather listen to a 49-year old than a guy your age who thinks he can disrespect people on a place where none of us are standing in front of one another.

I doubt you'd treat him this way if that were the case.

For the record: All you people holding up the Giants' regular season record and the Jets coming back and beating the Patriots in the playoffs...you realize those two teams have one thing in common? They both beat the PATRIOTS who didn't exactly play up to their normal standards.

And you DO realize that the Patriots, for the past 10 years, have been in the playoffs and have generally been in a helluva' lot of Super Bowls. For that, they get a pass when they have an off game.

We're not there yet. Not by a mile.

Giants and Jets....people are spouting off about that and they're not really realizing the conditions surrounding it. We're not nearly the sort of spoiler team that those two were.

And Eli? He's found a way to win TWO rings. So he's not a fluke. Schaub has won ONE playoff game vs. the Bengals, in a game where he threw a pick-6 and never threw a TD pass. He's been bad for a month+.

Are we going to hang our luck on the Pats not showing up? Don't hold your breath.

Welcome to the ignore list.

Oops, I just threatened you.

Just talking the same language as you like to use. That's all.

You get what you give, btw.

On this board you can show, or not, your age. I choose to tell your little ass my age, you are a ***** who can't display that info, yet you use my age to fuk with me??? GTFO, azzhole.

Thanks GP..... I feel special my friend. If his feelings were hurt from me asking if he was that dense then I don't know what to say. But you have a good night as well.

Interesting comparison. Highly doubtful it holds up tho.

A couple of very big differences id have to point out...

The jets lost their safety, who made all the calls on d, right before the mnf debacle. They got that sorted out by rematch. Houston, no such excuse.

The jets came into the playoff game off a huge win @ Peyton. Houstons win, not so inspiring imo.

This pats team is much better than that, offensively and esp defensively. Ww got himself benched for foot jokes..and it really cost us at the beginning when jets were definitely on their heels still.

Its possible. I read ppl on the jets forum talk about how eli sucked for 4 years till he finally developed..so sanchez might turn out goood too. Well, yeah, good luck w that.

If spread is any less than 7 I am betting the house on pats.

On the bolded.

JJo was not healthy going against the Pats and had been struggling with a groin. I mean he was out there...but not really...

I'm a Pats fan, and I'd say that it's very debatable that this Pats team is better.

Their running game certainly is better, but that passing game the pats had at the time that year was flawless practically. Brady only threw 4 picks that season and Branch was playing at a high level going into the post season. Woodhead was playing really well to that year.

The Pats offense is amazing, but their defense can't be trusted. They can play really well, but boy can they play really bad in the secondary at times.

we were missing one TE last time we were in NE too.
this game vs. CIN we had Graham and Daniels, w/c helped out the offense a lot.

Graham might be concussed btw. :pissed::pissed::pissed:

The Patriots defense was giving up an average of less than 10 points a game during the last 5 games of that season so they had been playing well.

You have points on the types of wins the Jets had and the one the Texans have going into their games, but both teams won those games with good defense and offenses that didn't have advantage of opportunities in the red zone.

Although the loss of Leonhard was an adjustment for the defense of the Jets, he didn't play offense that day and the Jets couldn't get anything going on offense against the Patriots in the MNF game. We played against you guys without Graham and it changed a lot of what we were able to do on offense against you in the game. I expect everyone to pick you guys to blow us out similar to the way the Jets were discounted going into that game.

Wade will make adjustments from the first game. The question is will they work like Rex's adjustments. Rex only blitzed once or twice in that divisional game and played a lot of zone after blitzing like crazy in the blowout. I wouldn't be surprised if we went with a similar strategy on defense.

I dont think so man.

Pass game is at worst a wash imo now w both te's healthy and Lloyd. Remember, te's have been injured all year and Lloyd is only now starting to really contribute.

Run game this yr by far..and cant tell how important that is comme playoff.

Defense, I agree were no juggernaut...but do you remember that d? Lol. It was a complete wreck and everyone was lighting it up. Our front 7 is above avg now and talib has really shored up the secondary. Will Peyton or rodgers expose our secondary? Yeah. We will have to win shootouts to win it all probably. Dont think schaub will tho tbh

If it's a shootout Pats win by multiple scores.

I think the Texans key to this game is obviously running the ball. Just keeping Brady off the field with 6+ minute drives and ending those drives in scores.

I agree....... We'll have to keep this game in the 20's to have a shot.

You honestly got confidence in Lloyd?? Lol! Lloyd is athletic and all, but his hands are garbage. I cringe every time Brady throws a deep ball to him. He doesn't get open often enough and he drops balls way to much. Honestly think of how easy it is to be a wideout on the edge of the Patriots offense when they've got Welker commanding so much attention through the middle along with not one but two TE's. lloyd should be destroying teams with that kind of coverage on him. Instead he is slightly better then Branch and Tate. He was a lousy replacement at wideout after that horrible experiment with Chad Johnson. I have never understood why BB never made any strong efforts to go after Steve Smith from the Panthers.

The TE's have been amazing this year as well as Welker. The biggest difference this year has been Ridley and the running game's consistency. That's what has made the offense better this season to me.

**** the Jets. That team is an oxymoron. We are not. We are a powerhouse. Foster regained some intensity that he's been lacking lately. The D was clicking. Bring on the Patriots.
