gametime next week

FWIW. This Texans "unexpected" loss and change in schedule for Saturday has probably screwed up also the plans of a lot of people who were planning to attend or holding tickets for another event. The grass to dirt surface could not be converted quick enough to allow both events back to back.

Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam event on Saturday, January 5th has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m. due to the Houston Texans NFL Playoff Game at Reliant Stadium on January 5th.

The Texans wouldn't even be playing next weekend if they had just beaten the Vikings or the Colts. So this game is meaningless imho. A win sends them on the road to play the Patriots with Gronk returning. Then if by some miracle the Texans showed up and beat the Patriots they would then have to jet over to Denver and play them for the AFC championship. The Texans are done this year and they only have themselves to blame. They set this whole mess in motion. They have no heart this year. Last season thats all they had. Stepping up everytime someone went down and finding ways to win.

Had they won yesterday they would be on a bye week preparing to host the Ravens at Reliant. Denver and New England would have to face each other with the winner playing the Texans at Reliant for the AFC championship. If they couldn't beat either the Vikings or the Colts to get this scenario instead of the one they are in now then what makes anyone think the Texans can beat any team they face in the playoffs?

I actually don't care if they beat the Bengals or not. Because there is no way this Texans team is going to win on the road in New England or Denver. Face it. Elite qb's eat the Texans for lunch. And our offense with Schaub at the helm on the road losing by at least a couple of tds, ughh. The playoffs to end the 2012 season for the Texans has disaster written all over it.

The player I feel bad for? Andre Johnson. This guy has given his all for the Texans and barely sniffs the playoffs at the end of his career. He is running out of time. It was a disgrace that the Texans didn't get a wr to stretch the field opposite Johnson. Instead they drafted projects.

I really wish the Texans would get rid of Kubiak and Smith but I know McNair will probably never do it. How great would it be to have a team like the Colts? You get Manning for a decade, suck for 1 year, now draft Luck and go 11-5 and right back in the playoffs. Houston took a decade just to get to the playoffs. I'm not happy with Wade either but that is a whole different rant. I will just say this. He needs to quit putting the square peg in the round hole. Design some different schemes that use zone more when facing elite qbs. Change can be good. Predictable in the NFL is a death sentence.

I don't anymore. Where else is he gonna go at this point where he's gonna get 1590 yards and really be the only target on a Super Bowl contending team? If they want to make it to the Super Bowl, they're gonna have to really earn it this year. Andre has a good 4 or 5 years left on this team and I don't think we'll be going away anytime soon, but we definitely have flaws that need fixing if we're going to make it.

I think it is extremely optimistic to think dre has a good 4-5 years left

We lost the last three of the season going into the play offs last year.

And we heard the same "we still have next week to get it done" (also in previous years just seeking the wild card game)...............until we had none.......................a very disturbing pathologic pattern:mcnugget:

Well he has 5 years left on the contract and he just had his best year ever in terms of yards and 2nd in terms of receptions. A lot of great receivers play well into their mid-30s. Don't think that is on the side of extreme optimism. Injuries is the only thing that could be a factor in that.

Why? The rumors of AJ's demise were greatly over stated IMO. He is 31 and just had his most productive season. Jerry Rice had his most productive season at 33 and had 1200 yds when he was 40. Reggie Wayne is 34 and still appears to have gas in the tank.

AJ is good enough to play for at least 4 more seasons. He had an extra step to lose and now he's just a more efficient route runner. If anything he's entering his prime.

Another wasted year for AJ.

Um, Jerry Rice has 2 of the greatest QBs in history throwing to him, Joe Montana and Steve Young. Two guys that excelled when the pressure was on them.

Andre has a first round bust and glorified backup throwing to him. One that never had any pressure and one folds like a cheap card table.

Maybe Schlub will prove me wrong but so far the bigger the game the smaller his performance.

Thanks for the totally non-responsive rant.

Well I'm glad you could name two people out of how many WR that have played in the NFL that had success later in their career. To think AJ will be rocking it at 35-36 is simply ignoring the numbers of the game. Can it happen? Sure. Will it? It's unlikely

Please with the two names comment. Lots of the most talented WRs stick around into the 35-36 range and beyond. It is the less talented players who get bounced out of the league. The overall numbers mean jack when you are discussing the elite of a position. But if you want to play a numbers game lets look at 5+ time pro-bowl WRs and see how many of them were getting bounced before their mid-thirties.

The numbers do mean something but if you want to ignore them because of homerism that's fine. AJ isn't elite now and if you think it's automatic that he will stay highly productive into is mid to late thirties you are kidding yourself

Now you are just looking foolish. AJ isn't elite now? - (which missed the entire point of the comment unless you are denying AJ was ever elite). A grand total of one WR beat him this year - LOL, while on a run first team with a barely competent QB. Oh well, I guess there are lots of Texans homers among the coaches and players in the NFL. We're talking 4-5 years here, not decades.

PS - I said nothing about automatic. Clearly injury could be a problem.

Ummmm not elite anymore ? For real dude....He had nearly 1600 yards this season with a running back who nearly gained 1600 yards as well. I mean what is elite to you if he isnt ?

It sucks that Andre is in such an exclusive class that there aren't many examples to demonstrate what he's capable of.

The price you pay for being elite.

Well I would have to adjust his "elite" numbers slightly for the extra half game is played this year. I dont think he is as dominating as he was and part of his numbers comes from the fact that the texans dont have any other good wr. For the Texans sake I hope he does have 4-5 more good years in the tank but as I said I think its very optmistic

Part of the reason they arent many examples is that guys in general dont continue to excel in their mid to late 30ss couple that with the even smaller number of people with this subset of talent
