texans have to face the starters..

I knew they would play the starters, only the texans would play back ups and let a team grab the #1 seed if we were in their shoes.

Only the Texans would take out their starters in the 4th quarter after being blown out. I was watching the 49ers/Seahawks game last night, and the 49ers played their starters until the very end.

Back on topic...I expect the Colts to play their starters. If we don't beat the Colts, we don't deserve home-field advantage.

I think the colts made a great story this year. And I will probably eat crow, but no way we lose to them. Colts are an enigma to me. I have no idea how they have won the games that they have.

And that is what has gotten me pissed the most as of late. Kubiak quits, and the team sees he quits, the fans sees he quit. Not the best way to instill confidence is your team and city.

BTW i ****ing hate quitters for what its worth. It just shows his lack of imagination.

they always say that but come the end of the third when the score is outta reach and players get injured they will be singing a defferent tune

Kinda worried their "coach" is coming back. You know they will play hard for him. Hell we couldnt play hard enough to lock up homefield against the vikings at home, i dont know where the texans plan to get their "motivation" from this week.

And if any of our players got hurt, you'd all be complaining that they were left in for no reason.

I didn't expect the Colts to pull their starters. As well they shouldn't. Frankly, I'm glad. Their OL is not very good and Watt had a field day against them. If he can have even half the day he had last week, it will help us out immensely.

No if u can stop a team from getting the #1 seed then i think you play your guys and do whatever possible to make that other teams playoffs a lot harder. Especially since we are division foes.

Before the game that is a great attitude and if it goes well then everything is rainbows and lollipops. If Luck snaps an MCL then you are the biggest moron ever for having him play a meaningless game.

Texans motivation to win next week should have come from the disappointing outcome last week against the Vikings. I hope they come determined to end the season with a win (and sweep the division in the process)

To me it just dont seem meaningless. I could be wrong but they know how much it will hurt our play off chances if we dont get home field advantage.

Regardless the way we have been playing their second string would prob whip our first strings ass.

if texans bring there a game colts have no chance but if they come out unmotivated..it could end badly

Houston better not come out unmotivated. They should treat this as a playoff game. Try as hard as they can to win it so they won't have to face the Bengals in the Wild-Card and then travel to New England in the divisional round.

I definitely know I would rather Houston get a bye and wait for the Ravens in Houston...

If I weren't a Texans fan, I would totally be pulling for the Colts to punk them, after their pathetic display against the Vikings.

I'm glad the Colts are playing their starters. If the Texans can't show who's boss in the AFC south, then they won't go far in the playoffs anyway.

it just be sad to have texans have best season ever just to get wasted in playoffs..im hoping texans beat the colts..colts have had there spotliggit its houston turn

Sure the Colts will "play to win". Why would they play to lose? But will they play anyone with more than a hangnail injury? Or any starter into the 2nd half? They've got a big playoff game staring them in the face. The coaches know it. The players know it. We won't see all of the starters for the entire game.

Our only chance is if Kubiak stays in Houston, where he can have his wife and kids watch the game--while Gary paces nervously in the back yard--and gets updates on our progress from his family.

Seriously, I hate myself for falling for Kubiak this year. I knew better, but the win streaks had me thinking he found a way to overcome himself.

ThaShark is probably correct: Texans get a nice lead early in the game and keep momentum into the 2nd qtr. and I can see the Colts pulling Luck and maybe Wayne too.

I just think its so sad that even the Colts, with really nothing to actually "win" still find a way to go after the "best team" in the AFC South...while the so-called best team in the AFCS lay down like severely abused livestock against the Vikes in our own home.

If that doesn't wake up Gary's kids...nothing will. Nothing.

the coach was battling cancer...anyone with a heart wont lay down and die as coach never gave up...the team often reflects the coaching staff...

As I expected. Probably a shock to Gary Kubiak though...

Hes like "i dare them, we have a 6 point lead at half time and i 100% run the ball to atleast give the other team a chance to get back in the game, where is the honor, wheres the respect" bla bla bla

...the team often reflects the coaching staff...

Duh.

That's sort of been what I've said about our HC for pretty much EVER.

I think maybe ultimately our HC reflects our owner, though. Great guy.....baaaaad judge of coaching talent.

Bad judge of talent? Kubiak and Smith have turned us into one of the top teams in the nfl after being the laughing stock. Your upset that were 12-3? Yes, right now were not looking very good, but lets wait till the end of the season before we fire everyone and jump off the cliff...

That's like saying "I have an alternative source of energy.....but after 1 week it crashes and can't be used anymore."

Look, it's fine. I know what we have, and it's just bumming me out. We're not cellar dwellers, so at least we have that going for us.

The Patriots game was not my barometer for us. The Vikings game was. No other game did I end up feeling the way I do now. We had a chance to win HFA and let game 16 be whatever it wanted to be....but no, here we are funding ourselves backed into a corner.

Historically, the Texans--hell, ANY Houston pro football team--just can't close out a good deal when it's there for the taking.

You guys are ignoring, willfully, the out and out HISTORY and tendency and patterns. Fine.

Even winning HFA is not the insurance this team needs. No, this team has to play a team who makes their own bad luck...when opponents take care of their business, and when those teams pinch us in the nose...we turtle up and cry.

Go ahead, rah-rah to your heart's content. I know how this ends.

So much negativity here. All the playoff teams have weaknesses that can be exposed. They have good games and bad. The Texans are capable of playing a complete all around game, and they have set themselves up for success for years to come. To win in the playoffs you must play well and be very lucky.

I can list weaknesses for every team in the playoffs, and I can list reasons why they are capable of winning. There's no dominant team this year they can all lose to each other. I suggest you get behind them or you can make yourself useless and focus on elements that nobody can change at this point. Those fans can go ahead and bandwagon whatever team they wish the Texans were.

To all the rest were gettin that #1 seed and the best team in Texans history will give em hell!

I'm extremely comfy with saying this is the worst crop of playoff teams in the last decade.

Only two teams we have any kind of confidence in right now is Denver and Seattle...and Seattle, IMO, goes home after 1 week.

Voice of reason here. They have to look forward to the playoffs the following week. That's the smart thing to do. Sure, they'll come out and play first half, see how it goes. If it was us, I'd also hope we'd pull the starters. The smart play.

and what good did it do? manningham tore his acl and is out for the yr.... and they still get hammered

the history of houston pro football means nothing in relation to this team... nada... just like it meant nothing to last yrs team who came thru and played excellent ball in the playoffs.

im skeptical of this team also after the last few weeks. the only thing keepin my hopes someway up is that last yrs team lost some late season games to bad teams (panthers & colts), while playing crap before balling out in the playoffs

Your previous post was spot-on.

And it means we're screwed because this year's team is NOT the same caliber of team we had last year. Not nearly as many injuries, but the chemistry is way off.

Honestly, I think Kubiak needs to bench Schaub and give him some time to think about things. He looks erratic, confused, and basically unable to lead the team from one possession to the next.

I think the two OT games drained him, IMO. He hasn't looked the same since those two games. A fresh QB, even if it doesn't go well for us...I think it still gives Matt time to stand on the sideline and watch. Watching causes a guy to think, which something Schaub does not appear to be doing (thinking, that is).

The Colts have nothing to really lose with another loss to the Texans. They will play the Ravens either way in the Wild Card game. They can gain "momentum" and confidence going into the playoffs with a win........knowing that they were a "spoiler," forcing the Texans out of the Bye and #1 seed. They will be fighting with all they have for this reason and for their returning coach. On the other hand, if we lose, there will be no positive redeeming points to be gained......except for those that insist in continuing to polish the turd.

I agree completely.

Unfortunately, the way they lost to the Vikings is causing traumatic flashbacks with close similarities to previous Houston teams.

Houston football fans may be the worst fans in the history of the universe according to some, but one thing we are collectively good at should not be questioned: identifying chokes. The brain-trust of this city is an expert on that subject. :shades:

I think that the Colts should play their starters simply to keep them sharp.

We were playing like crap 2 weeks ago & at no time were we in any danger of losing the game to you guys. The Colts are the worse 10-5 team in the history of 10-5.

Yeah, I know our 12-3 is a weak 12-3. But we're in another league all together from your Colts.

I guarantee y'all will give us the ball..... by way of turnover at least 2 times & it won't be a one score game at any time during the 4th.

Naaah... let 'em jump off the cliff now. It was getting too crowded on the bandwagon anyway. We can hold up on that "fire everyone" thing since "everyone" includes Wade.
:worldpeace:

I hope we face all the starters. I hope all the injured Colts get healed up this week and we see their A game for 60 full minutes. I don't want any excuses for how we managed to sweep the AFC South this year.

This is our division now. Come and take it.

Has anyone thought about the fact that if the colts lose...they would play the texans again in the second round if they beat the ravens. They would force the texans to beat them three times in a row..no easy task for the texans...and if they win...they would have to face the broncos in mile high against peyton. i was a colts fan i prefer scenario #1 over scenario #2 anyday of the week.
