next year: Martz + Bush

Practice Squad
Mike Martz will not be back to coach the Rams. Capers SHOULD NOT be bcak for the Texans. They should sign Martz and then if the texans have the first pick, they should pick up the best player to come out of college in years in USC's Bush. Add a couple O-Line free agents and get a real Defensive coordinator (pittsgurghs LB coach?) and the Texans are at least an 8-8 team again.

simple right? <grin>

Why so he could not use him? Mike Martz didn't use Marshall Faulk or Steven Jackson properly, so why would you expect him to change his ways and use Reggie Bush properly?

i grew up a rams fan...and a fresno state fan...and when the texans drafted carr i became a texans fan as well.

I agree...Martz is an ***** who cannot manage a game, coach special teams or defense...

There is tons of talk about Martz not returning and since he was obsessed with Carr in college, it might be a good fit...for your offfense. the Texans would be fun to watch and they would no doubt put up points.

Carr has more talent than Bulger.
Johnson can be as good as Holt.
Bush is similar to Faulk.

I hope the guy recovers and all, but I also hope that Martz is not being considered to replace Capers. Was Kubiak a finalist for the job when McNair and co were in search of a HC?

Martz didnt use Faulk properly? With Martz as the O.C. Faulk became the most prolific RB in the league. He was good in Indy, didnt take that next step until he went to the Rams. I think Martz used Fauly just fine.

I would only be really upset if Capers comes back next year. That would really push me over the edge.

Does anybody get Sports Illustrated? Go read the nice article on Mike Martz on how he destroyed the Rams "greatest show on turf" by starting a power struggle. This team is not a circus yet, but it could turn into one with Martz at coach.

Vermeil used Faulk properly, just like he made Priest Holmes into a touchdown machine. Every year Martz would run less and pass more.

It had nothing to do with Faulk getting older and getting beat up every year, right? For the record, Vermil had Faulk for 1 year. Martz took over HC in 2000, Faulk arrived in '99 to StL.

I've been a fan of the Rams for a long time now, and TRUST ME, you do NOT want a cancer like Mike Martz as your head coach.

He was okay as an offensive coordinator, but he stinks as a head coach. He's fired two special teams coaches to take the blame for lousy special teams play since he took over as head coach. The last one went to Buffalo where last year they had the number one ranked special teams.

Mike Martz is the guy who went to Arizona and against one of the worst run-defenses in the country last year, not only chose to not run the ball at all, didn't even have Steven Jackson suit up for the game. The result is that they got blown out in a humiliating fashion.

Mike Martz is a guy who had a chance to beat the Panthers and go to the NFC title game in 2003. They needed a field goal to tie the game and take it to overtime, or a touchdown to win it. With over 40 seconds left and within FG range, they opted to take a KNEE instead of trying to get the touchdown. The result is that they lost the game in double overtime, and the Panthers went to the Superbowl.

Mike Martz is a guy who inherited a Superbowl team, and slowly unraveled and flushed away the most talented offense in the NFL until they became an extremely mediocre NFC team.

This is a guy who opened up this season with a loss to the 49ers. Then, without him coaching and with Joe Vitt in charge, they became competant enough to run ruckshot all over a good Jaguars team.

The only thing Mike Martz has done as a head coach is make his team steadily worse every single year. There's a reason that all of St. Louis wants to see him kicked out the door, and it's precisely the reason why I will cry long and hard if the Texans take him as their new head coach.

Id be in favor of keeping Capers and replacing the OC and DC.. rather than making Martz our head coach.

We are looking for AN UPGRADE at head coach.. Martz would be a step to the side.. or a step back... definatly NOT a step forward.

Receptionist: Coach Stoops, Texans on line 1

Stoops: They want to prove a college team can beat an NFL team? Set up a scrimmage in Dallas

Receptionist: No they want you as the new head coach

Stoops: "Laughs" Let them hold for an hour or so, mabye they'll get the point.

Tragically funny

Head Coach: Gary Kubiak
O.C.: Brian Shottenheimer
D.C.: Jon Hoke
S.T.: Marciano
O.L.: Dennison

Maybe lure a guy like JJ to take over at the GM position. He is not gonna make a huge trade like H.W. was, but he will bring in players who will succeed in Kubiak and Hoke system.
