Tell me you weren't on your feet & dancing when he stripped that ball.

He's come up huge for us these last three games, huge.

Like a little pit bull

the tide turns so fast on these messageboards. just last week after the Jax game people were :roast: this dude b/c of him being constantly out of position and his poor tackling. Now............:smiliedance:

I don't know if he was being roasted, they were just stating "facts" He was playing very aggressive & they took advantage of it.

But he manned up & had a great game against Chicago, then another yesterday.

He's the only other guy that I know that is playing almost as hard as Watt.

We beg your damned pardon!!

I'm sorry, it doesn't mean there's not room for improvement, or areas that need to be addressed, but the idea that an 11-1 NFL team that's currently got a 5 game winning streak going only has 2 (or even 6) players who are playing hard is kind of ridiculous.

You're on a roll, Champ .:spit:

My point exactly. Everyone is going all out, not just Watt and Manning. I just pulled those guys out of the crowd. Why do you think Kubiak gave everyone a game ball after yesterday's game.

and we're just 10-1 at the moment, not 11-1.
Don't jinx it.

Manning is a playmaker for sure, he might give the opponent a gift now and then but he will take it away.

I think we are blessed to have the versatility and skills Quin and Manning bring to the Texans secondary.

After too many years of Stevens, Earl and co to have legit players back there is AWESOME.

Any chance they may get some pro bowl loving?

I agree .... to think the rest of the defense (in particular) isnt playing hard is .... silly , hell its an insult to silly.

Sure there is room for improvement but some people's criticisms dont come across as constructive , its more a personal opinion with some. Especially those who dont like Kubiak .... Damn his team is 10-1. With a 5-0 record on the road and has wins over division leaders Denver , Baltimore and Chicago , two of those in their place.

Those same people will be screaming off with his head after the next loss .... and will still feel the same way after he brings this city a Lombardi Trophy.

Like I said in another thread , I havent been this excited about a football season / team since the Oilers were knocking on the door back in the Earl Campbell Dan Pastorini days .... and thats a lotta years back.

Enjoy this season , as teams like this dont come around all that often.

yep got happy when that happen but GK has to start trusting in schaub to throw the ball.

Start trusting Schaub to throw? LOL - Schaub is on pace for 4150 yds (he was on pace for 4175 last season). That would be his 3rd 4000 yd season under Kubiak including leading the league with 4770 one year. I think Kubiak trusts Schaub to throw.

3rd and 13, Kubiak: Draw

Kubiak is so conservative that it's gonna come and bite us in the rear. He settled for a 50 yarder when we all know Graham is FAR from automatic in that range. He couldn't trust Schaub to get 5-7 more yards? Let's be honest here, when it's 3rd and long we all know he's calling the draw no matter what the field position is.

And that is responsive to my post how?

As to the punt, now for about the 4th or 5th time, Kubiak called a pass play (in fact the same pass play Casey caught the 2nd time) and Schaub looked at the D and audibled to a run.

So let's be honest here, it is very presumptive to think what is run in a game is what was called.

So you have one of the best defenses in the NFL .... Its 3rd and half a mile , the odds of gaining the 1st down are slim. Why not take a few yards , punt it away andlet your defense go to work and get the ball back in good field position ??

Rather ... lets risk a turnover or worse because the defense knows they have to throw getting Schaub splattered on the turf and out come playoff time.

Not to mention .... when it is a critical situation teams will know his tendancy to run draws and maybe play the run instead .... and they can take advantage of that. They dont show all their cards .... they have a few plays in the playbook that they only break out when they really need them (The Walter TD against the Bungles last season being a prime example) .... Why show what you dont have to giving your future opposition film to study on you.

They are 10-1 .... Sure they have their warts but Gary's conservative third down playcalling is the least of our concerns.
Right now , Im much more concerned with the rate at which the opposition is converting on 3rd and long as well as the number of big plays givin up in that situation.

As much as I hate the draw on 3rd and long, I understand it. It is called " get some more yardage so you can play the field position game" at that point.
It cracks me up on how Wade gets credit for wins and Kubiak gets blasted for conservative playcalling on these plays when kubiak is trusting wade and not trying to put the defense in a bad situation and give the opponents short field.

With that said, I am not praising everything Kubiak is doing, just looking at odds on a long drive against Phillips defense

Opposing offenses would probably rather :gun: than try to sustain a long drive against this defense .... despite the last two weeks giving up 30+.

Exactly. The fact that opposing offenses can convert long yardage 3rd downs frequently, is an indictment of of our defense, because they are low percentage plays.

Conservative play calling? How bout smart play calling?

If you are referring to the looked-like-an-interception-strip, my wife and I were literally screaming and dancing around, lol. Less exciting when they showed the reverse angle.

The only reason this was a huge deal is because of three factors:

1. The Lions don't traditionally win their own Thanksgiving game. Rarely do they win.

2. They have been losing really close games all year long.

3. The Texans were 9-1 and could stand to lose a game.

Had the situation been reversed, with the Lions RB scoring that same type of TD.....and therefore the Texans getting hosed on the call.....all the talk would have been "Well, players are coached to play until the whistle. The Lions didn't give up right there and the Texans fell asleep. Yeah, the rule is bogus BUT you gotta play to the whistle! Good heads-up play by a hungry team."

I swear that's what would've been the talking point by all the media talking heads.

The three factors combined insisted that the people within the league need to try and get the rule changed in the middle if the season!!!! Even Charlie Casserly had enough sense to comment "I don't like a rule changed in the reg season. It's not right to have one rule in the teg season and then have it nullified in a post season. Play all year with a rule, then revisit it in the offseason."

Screw Schwartz and his dirty players, his dirty ways as a coach. And screw the media who are whining about the travesty. All the guy had to do was stay calm and let the review booth do its job. The loss is on SCHWARTZ.

Agreed GP. Schwartz and Suh can both kiss my ass. They lost on Thanksgiving again. hahahahahha

We picked up another win while I was sleeping. AWESOME!

GO TEXANS!

I don't think that's the same one. The receiver caught the ball, took a couple of steps. Manning stripped it & I think Sharpton recovered.

Have you noticed how our defense is getting run with Cody out?

Eh - against Jacksonville, we gave up 86 yard on 29 rushing plays without Cody. That's essentially 3 yards per carry.

Believe what you want (or don't), but Kubiak has said that Cody will be "back in full force" for the Titans game. Dobbins is more uncertain (again - according to Kubiak). We'll see how things go, but with Dobbins realistically missing another game, and Mercilus stepping in for Reed (or Barwin moving to Reed's spot, and Mercilus taking over for Barwin), the LB corp concerns me much more than anything going on with the DL as it relates to the run. With Reed out, and questions about the health of James as well as Dobbins, it will be interesting to see if they add a LB this week, and if so, how they make room on the roster.

Injury bug is starting to hit all NFL teams real bad last 2 weeks just not the Texans. Be intresting how they survive it.
