AJ is back !!!

We had the bigger Johnson. Andre 9 catches 188 yards. Calvin 8 catches 140 yards.

I heard one of the commentators say Calvin Johnson was in the slot when we were on offense. Silly commentator.

Andre Johnson has 461 Rec yds in his past 2 games, most in NFL history in back-to-back games. #HappyDreDay

He never left. As long as his hamstrings are fine, I don't care what his stats are.

I like him racking up the stats, will only help his bid for the hall of fame. Which is where i think he will end up.

These last 5 games has given him the confidence that i didnt see early in the season. If fully healthy he could play 4-5 more seasons and we all want him to go to the HOF

1500 Yard season? Just like he said

It'd be nice if he got a few more scores though. Kubiak should put Andre in as tightend in our goalline formation and get him some scores considering the majority of the time we get down there is because of him. Our tight ends should be thankful for AJ.

463 yards in the last 2 games can we officially say AJ is back ? I think so !!!
Some people were saying he's past his best days. I just think he's saving himself for the big games. I expect him to go beast mode in the playoffs - think Larry Fitzgerald when he took Arizona to the Super Bowl that one year and nearly won it against the Steelers with a go-ahead Touchdown late.

Just for the record since people are loving to write AJ off, Rice's best year of his career came next year in AJ's progression.

There is a huge difference between a 30 year old RB and a 30 year old WR.

I've never seen a players health been talked about so much when it's clearly not been an issue.

Andre Johnson has been clutch. Every time we need a big play Andre always seems to be able to make it.

He's been extremely focused on winning and will do anything to win. These same things can be said about Schaub as well.

Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say
But nothin comes out when they move their lips
Just a buncha gibberish
And mutha****as act like they forgot about Dre

'Dre Day 2012, all day every mf-ing day!!!!! He's been my favorite player from the get go and every game I have been specifically hoping for him to ball and the last 2 games he has been showing exactly why he is STILL, IMO, one of the best 3 WR's in the league!

I'm hoping in the playoffs he gets his Fitzgerald type moments!

Maybe I'm nitpicking here but I think AJ leaves a lot of yards on the field after a catch. I would like to see him do a quick juke, spin or a stiff arm at those DB's in front of him insteading of just covering up and pushing forward after a tackle.

Look at Brandon Marshall, that guy leads the league in YAC every season because he knows the superiority in size and strength is always in his favor after a catch. That guy is simply a bully running with the ball.

I look at AJ and I see King Kong behind that facemask. I can't imagine the damage that can be done with a simple stiff arm on a 200lb DB's.

Fortunately for CB's, AJ is too much of a gentleman for those type of things.
But don't expect the same courtesy from him in the Madden World.
Ahhh. Thank god there's Madden....

Is Andre Johnson on the decline? Nope. (Karen Warren/Chronicle)
There has never been a receiver in the history of football to do what Andre Johnson has done in the past week.

There has never even been a receiver in the history of football to do what he’s done in two games.

Johnson caught an astounding 461 receiving yards in back-to-back games, a feat that’s never been accomplished before. He did it within a five-day span, just weeks after cries of his aging body and questions about whether he was finished circulated.

This wasn’t just among spectators and reporters. After his slow start, there were personnel people around the league who wondered if his decline had started.

This week, in two spectacular games, Johnson answered with a resounding, “No.”

On Sunday against the Jaguars, he caught 14 passes for a career-high 273 yards, including a walk-off 48-yard touchdown catch in overtime. Then, after playing five quarters and only getting three days of rest, at a time when another 31-year-old’s body might feel the strain of fatigue, Johnson caught nine passes for 188 yards. Six of those catches and 101 yards came in the fourth quarter and overtime.

“Andre is rolling right now,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. “He’s got confidence, he’s playing his tail off, he’s healthy and he’s back in the best condition I’ve seen him in in three years.”

Two games have catapulted Johnson from 21st in receiving yards to second, behind only Calvin Johnson who got upstaged on Thursday.

Andre Johnson’s total topped Chad Johnson, who had 450 yards in two games in 2006. And Chad Johnson didn’t do it in the same week.

This was slightly bothering me during the game. The commentators kept going on and on about CJ and giving updated yard totals for him but were barely talking about AJ's yards.

How soon do we forget about his TD vs Arizona...

Hell yeah he is back AND HEALTHY....

He really gives credit to the training staff. Those guys ...whatever they are doing....it is working to perfection. Hell give those guys a raise because Andre is back.

He is also playing with chip on his sholder.....he heard all the whispers from the public even some Texan fans who thought..." he is too old" "he is damaged goods"...."better get a new number 1 receiver"...."can we trade him?"..."how many weeks will he last?"....ect.....

Thank you critics....because you just woke the sleeping Andre the Giant.....
And he is angry.......Give them hell Andre.....

Right, I didn't even know Aj had 188 till after the game, looking at the stats. I figured he had about 7 or 8 catches, & probably just over 100 yards.

I was wrong about his ability to stretch the field. He had a forty something a thirty something, a couple of 20s...... & there was that big one Matt over threw him on (yeah, I was wrong about that too).

Yeah, he stretched the $hit out of that field.

That's really desperate digging something over two years ago. That play was late the 4th Q in a close game near the end zone.

Mean while someone like Fitz or Steve Smith play with a slugger-like approach after a catch on every single play. AJ is more physically gifted and imposing than most top 10 WR out there and yet he's content with just getting on base instead of hitting one out the park. And please do bring out the game winning run against Jax. He was following great downfield blocking and coast from there.

AJ is doing CB's a favor by just covering up and letting them make the tackle. I want him to break their ankle with jukes, make them whiff with spin moves, shove face mask down their throats with stiff arm.

He still has all the tools. He's a beast. I want him to be a killer running with the ball. I'm not asking him to make that effort on every play. I know he puts ball securities first and that's great and smart. But once in awhile, let that beast come out to play. Give fans something more to cheer about after catching it.

I remember a while back at a sports bar, everytime AJ makes a catch I can see all the Texans fan in front of me immediately stand up over the table turned to each other for high fives before the play was even over, blocking the TV screen from me while they celebrate.

I use to get mad everytime they do that. But when they sit back down and the TV screen is back in view I realize AJ is almost always no more than 3 or 4 yards from where he caught the ball.

Mean while a section next to me was hosting the Bears game with all their die-hard fans. Every time B. Marshall catches a pass I noticed all their fans eye's remain lock to the TV, still seated, hands clutched to their drinks, watching every seconds of every stride at #15 until a sure tackle is made. Because they know their playmaking reciever can easily turn a short slant or hitch into a nice looking house all by himself.

Sadly for AJ the suspense is usually immediately over after a catch.

But wait, I thought our training staff and team doctors were all a bunch of moronic mouth-breathers incapable of competently diagnosing and treating anything more serious than a paper cut? (Or was that the Strength and Conditioning staff?)

Good of you to man up

Like on the touchdown that ended the Jags OT game?

Btw, Smith and Fitzgerald average 0.3 additional yards after catch. Marshall averages 0.8 yards less after the catch.

The more you know....

Or to look at it a different way, percentage of yards which come from YAC:

AJ 29%
CJ 23%
Roddy White 24%
Steve Smith 29%
Brandon Marshall 27%
AJ Green 27%

Looks to me like AJ is doing just fine for being such a slow pansy.
