Texans-Jags and NFL History

1st time in NFL history where receivers from opposing teams both have over 200 yards receiving. (Johnson 273, Blackmon 236)

Texans are the first team in NFL history to score twice in OT.

Scahub ties Warren Moon for 2nd in passing yardage in a game. (527)

The 14 receptions were a single game high for AJ (12 in 3 previous games), and his 2nd 200 yard reception game.

Schaub's 5 TD passes were also a career high. As were his 43 completions, which is tied for 2nd all time (Drew Bledsoe had 45 in 1994).

Matt Schaub owns 2 of the top 15 passing performances of all time.

I am still surprised when I hear the Schaub haters. The guy is not Peyton or Brady. If you didn't watch the game today and just heard that Schaub had 527 yards, 5 TDs and his team won, a QB rating above 100 you probably would think he had a great game. I am amazed (mostly by the post-game radio callers) who just wanna hate on Schaub.

It's good to know that we can win games in multiple ways. If our defense has an off game at least we have a QB who can throw it and bring us from behind.

I honestly think that if Schaub was allowed a Favre-like leash, he could put up numbers with the best of him. It's not his fault that we're a run first team. Any time in the last few years our team has gone 5-wide, let 'er rip mode, Schaub has looked like a borderline elite QB.

to which the naysayers will ask:

"Either of them in the playoffs?"

& that's Schaub's biggest drawback. He's building a pretty good reputation as a winning QB. But until he wins in the play-offs, this is what we're going to get.

We shouldn't be surprised.... it's the way of the NFL.

I expect to hear it from some of the "pundits" comes play-off time.

Schaub gets overlooked quite a bit because he isn't flashy and doesn't get creative a lot. He doesn't scramble around and play "schoolyard" football like Big ben, Romo or Favre. He'd rather take the sack than the INT. He'll get his chance to shine this postseason and, hopefully, hush a lot of his critics.
