Credit to the coaches

I know I'll probably get blasted for this, but I have to give them some props for when they were playing musical linemen, I think sometime before the Seattle game. I believe at the time they were doing it to get an idea of who can play what position just in case of an injury. It may have looked dumb then but with the injuries the O-line have sustained, it's not looking dumb anymore, IMO.

Just having fun, man. But I agree with you, TexMexVato, the line does look a little better the past couple of games. Too bad it's a little too late! It's only taken the coaches FOUR seasons to finally start to figure it out. :brickwall

Well, since we're giving credit where credit is due I've got to give the coaches their fair share of credit too.

See that 1-7 team out there on the field? I think the coaches deserve to be recognized for what they've accomplished in the four years they've been here. Way to go guys! Props to Casserly too for his contribution!
 
Maybe, but its becoming more and more apparent that the missing piece
to this puzzle has been Chester at LT. He has been almost the only constant in the last few weeks since the line play improved, if only marginally. With Wade now out, there will be a new RT Sunday night against the Chiefs and that means all the starters will have been replaced atleast once over the last few weeks except Chester.

I think we all love them Texans but is 1-8 coming along Caddy? You better get used to the idea of a new coach and some personel changes for the Texans in the offseason if not sooner. Capers is a bad head coach and it is showing big time in year 4. Casserly hasn't helped either.

Actually Vinny I think we get more yardage out of out special teams play when Mathis is in the lineup.

During the Indy game, was there a single passing down, where they didn't have to do "max protect", where the TE and RB were used on double-team blocking?

Just curious.

Kind of an interesting thing on the max protect. It works better when Well's is in than when DD is. DD is a terrible blocker as a back.

Yes, we had multiple targets in patterns on most of the passing downs in the first half. I haven't looked at the second half closely yet.
 
Vinny did we open it up more in the 2nd half as in a tale of two halves or were we pretty consistant throughout the game?
 
I'm going to look at it today...I will post it in a few hours. Just going on memory alone I would say our first drive after the half was excellent, Armstrong came in and made some plays and we were in the shotgun several times....but I think we struggled in our protections too...but I really need to look at it again.
 
It looked to me that Carr was off in the 1st half but felt more confortable in the 2nd half.

The reason that I'm asking is that, regarding the grading of improvement on pass protection, you'd want to leave out the double-team situations, correct? For instance, Pitts vs. Freeney one on one, Wade vs Mathis one on one, etc.?
 
Pitts didn't have much help on Freeney at all in the first half of the Colts game and pretty much shut him down.
