Holliday

Trindon Holliday just scored on a KO return for Denver. They said he had a Punt Return for a score last week.

Frustrating...

Doesn't mean he would've scored here. Our special teams as a whole is messed up.

Haha, he actually fumbled the ball before crossing the goalline, but they didn't review it. Should have been a touchback going the other way.

On the bright side, looks like he didn't cross the plain w the ball...but the kicked the XP anyway hahaha.

And Keo is our ST Captain huh? SMH...

Next Holliday thread I find in the Texan forum I won't bother to merge.

He didn't work with the Texans because Joe Marciano struggles to see small objects in his old age.

If we meet the broncos in the play offs and trindon returns a kick against us....well....that would suck...

I was just FIXIN to post that! Yep, and we got K-Mart!! geeeeezzzz! Texans Marciano, or Kubiak, ain't lookin very smart right now!
Martin might be able to score on the Broncos or Ravens, too. The Texans return teams are miserable, with the KO return average dead last in the NFL.

Still, this is a 7-1 team that controls its own destiny. I'm thinking Kubiak just wants to avoid big mistakes in the return game. We'll see if he's right.

It's not a case of whether you can live without good special teams play. You can, obviously. As you speculated Lucky I think Gary just wants them not to drive any daggers through his heart. Take a knee, call for the fair catch, don't come out of the end zone unless you see tons of daylight ahead of you, and just don't fumble. We can suck at special teams as long as we don't turn the ball over and we'll be fine.

Eventually a day will come when he needs special teams to make a play for him though and on that day he'll have nowhere to turn. This needs to be fixed not just planned around until Joe decides to retire.

Anyone else genuinely happy for him? I figured he would fall off of a cliff after we cut him.

I'm happy for him. Also feel a little... justified maybe.

I know he was making mistakes & bad decisions when he was here, which is one of the reasons we let him go. But I also think we needed that roster spot.

I'm not mad at him, that's for sure. Keyshawn Martin is actually contributing to the team now that he's gone, so... it worked out for everyone.

NFL admits a pair of officiating errors
Posted by Darin Gantt on November 12, 2012, 5:09 PM EST

The NFL office admitted Monday a pair of relatively obvious and egregious officiating errors, including one that allowed a bogus touchdown to stand and one that let the clock run for over a minute when it shouldn’t have.

The league sent out statements effectively apologizing for both.

Broncos punt returner Trindon Holliday’s 76-yard punt return should have been reviewed but wasn’t, after he flipped the ball to the ground before crossing the goal line. Had it been reviewed, the points would have come off the board, and the Panthers would have been given the ball at the 20 after a touchback, with the game tied 7-7 in the second quarter (and Brian Murphy might still have a job today).

“Because the video showed that Holliday lost possession of the ball before it broke the plane of the goal line, [replay official Bob] Boylston should have stopped the game to initiate an instant replay review,” the statement said.

“Had that occurred, [referee Al] Riveron would have had the indisputable visual evidence necessary to overturn the on-field ruling.”

I'm watching the Panthers/Broncos game (DVR) I just saw the Holliday premature release. Dude's moving so fast that you couldn't tell in real time. If not for the slow mo.... the production crew wouldn't have noticed.

I also just saw the second play with Holliday as part of the offense. Both times he lined up in the backfield. The first time he lined up on Peyton's right & used to set up an end around. The second time he lined up on Peyton's left, caught a ball in the flats then turned it upfield for a 15 yard gain.

As a fellow short man, and someone who attempted to play football as a runty teenager I'm happy to see him gain success. I think he'll do well in Denver.

The premature release was a stupid mistake that he got away with this time, now he'll see it and not likely make that same mistake twice.

Personally, I still would have cut Holliday. With our ST blocking, he wasn't going to be breaking anything here. A pure returner is a luxury and there are other things we can use that spot for.

Like a kick-off specialist...
