Morgan promoted to roster spot. but why ?

I'm thinking that the promotion of Donavan Morgan to the roster is to deal with WR problems with the health problems. Both AJ and Mathis are not 100% and Morgan might be our new return guy until Mathis are gtg, which, unfurtunately, might take some time.

Any thoughts ?

They won't play Armstrong very much so it beats me why Morgan is activated. I think they should have activated Garrick Jones--6/5 306#s Tackle. He may do better than the tackles we have in there now. Just a thought so don't hit me too hard about this comment!

hehe, I still say Wells at LT :)

I've got a feeling that we won't see much of Mathis the rest of the season, sounds like he's still struggeling with his pre-season injury. I hope I'm VERY wrong!

When Mathis is out, our returns are nongood.

Morgan has been working on returns. I believe he did it some in Arena league--different animal but you need somebody with quicks, and he is used to turf.

But I'm just guessing that's what they are thinking.

All that being said, I hope Mathis can play, though hamstring injuries are the devil.

I just hate it when a player w/ potential and has shown what he can do gets injured. Sure it's part of the game, but it just sucks. Mathis was exciting in the preseason - as well as a few others that didn't even make the team:brickwall - and I just knew this guy along w/ AJ and DD was going to be trouble for the opposition. But the injury bug has hit us hard.

Don't know much about Morgan, like I didn't know all that much about DD until he started wrecking shop. At this point, gotta work w/ what you've got and hope for the best. GO TEXANS!!!

Stef, I had two hamstring injuries in my younger years playing softball. One game we were playing at night and I slipped just a little on the grass from the dew, just one little wrong move and Wham it hit! They are a nagging injury that just seems not to want to go away!

Mathis re-injured his hammy warming up for Jacksonville game. I tell you, they just won't go away!

He MAY not get better until next season. Hammies haunt ya for a LONG time.

He just taking a roster spot. We don't have him even returning kicks. This coaching staff knows talent when it sees it.:sarcasm:

With as many kicks as we get to return, shouldn't everybody get at least one shot!??!:sarcasm:

Morgan was made active, because he is supposedly a decent return man. He did not get that opportunity today because the coaches had confidence in Morency. Morgan is faster than Morency and would likely be a better return man with the ability to take one to the house, but no need in letting him prove it.

I think it was good for Mathis to sit out this game. We had little chance to win and it would not be worth it. That being said, I think he'll be okay for the rest of the season.

You know, we got rid of JJ Moses because he took an entire roster spot just to return kicks. This guy took a roster spot to not even see the field.

Donovan Morgan if given a chance can be a good kick returner. I had the priveledge of watching him all season when he played for the Tulsa Talons. He is quick and he can catch about anything you throw him. His nickname while playing for the Talons was Spiderman.

Sorry for not posting sooner about Morgan but I have been without a computer for 6 weeks!
