Johnathan Joseph?

Fili

Rookie
What happened to him tonight? Slipped and gave up the huge play, and I think he got way over his head when I saw that he was covering Cromartie. Is his groin messing with his play?

not sure if injury is slowing him down or not but he hasnt played as well as last year so far..i'll go ahead and say it and I can't believe this but through 5 games kj has outplayed him

They were picking on him and he was obliging. He and Kareem switched cliches tonight. They stayed away from The Dream's side while Joseph was falling or getting worked on almost every play

If him being hurt was the reason for his poor play tonight, then he doesn't need to play until he is healed. He looked like Kareem did in his rookie year, and that's pretty bad.

He seemed to be really struggling with his footing. Maybe bad shoe choice or something?!?!?!

TJ

I haven't heard that once since KJ was a rook. JJ did NOT look good tonight at all. I really think he is injured. If he is he needs to sit sooner than later. We've got a bye coming up in two weeks. Take these two weeks off and get right.

Yeh when he fell on that play I yelled "nice job Kareem" at the TV which isn't fair the KJ.

It's not time to worry yet Joseph is still a great CB, everyone has a bad day here and there.

joseph got absolutely abused today, which is worrisome considering he was covering nobodies and cornerbacks - with sanchez throwing the ball. he was quite a liability and if injured needs to get healthy before getting back on the field.

It was my fault. I wore his jersey while watching the game at home, which I never do. My bad dudes, took it off after the Kerley busted play.

Joseph looked slow and injured today.

On the other hand ... McCain made some plays today that he was making last season. I'll take the W .... Just wish we didnt have to sacrifice an injury for the W .... almost like last season all over again.

Speaking of slipping and sliding, was it just me or was that field questionable? Seems like at least 1 or 2 guys on either side going down every play.

All I know is, he better have his A game this week against Jordy Nelson, or we're screwed.

Or better yet, put KJax on Jordy Nelson. Until JJoe shows me any different, KJax is definately the better CB.

And going by the last game, if Joseph is bothered that much by a pulled groin or whatever, he needs to be benched until its healed, because its definitely affecting his play.

I came into a conversation on the radio about this. Not sure which Texans player, but one of them alluded to there being wet spots on the field that the Jets seemed to avoid. The player apparently would not elaborate, but gave the impression that this was a home field advantage 'tactic' by the Jets.

Just mentioning it, fwiw.

He is evidently past his groin problem. He is now dealing with a new issue......a knee issue. He did go through full participation today after missing yesterday.

Great... our star CB has knee issues just when we're going against one of the more pass-happy teams in the league.

Let's do our patented time-of-possession thing and keep DiscountDoubleCheck on the sidelines for most of the game.

That seemed to be 'knock' (perhaps too strong of a word) on him when the Texans signed him. That being, his ability to stay healthy and on the field. I sure hope it gets lined out promptly because when JJO is on, there aren't many that can that can catch on him.

Hopefully it's a short term thing. Fingers crossed.

We don't need him to stay on the field. We just need him to be on the field in December/January...... & February. We're not going to win them all, but we need to win them when it counts.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just say'n

Who you gonna put in his place?

It doesn't matter. We need him healthy & he isn't going to get healthy running out there every week. Give Ball an opportunity to step up. Give Brandon Harris an opportunity to step up. We'll probably get the same level of play that we've gotten out of Joseph so far, but at least we'll know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Knowing how this organization works, I would doubt if Joseph is removed unless he is just short of not being able to walk. I only hope that the bye week allows him to heal whatever ails him and that meanwhile he does not extend his injury.

CB Johnathan Joseph

(on how he feels about Coach Kubiak feeling positive about his chances of playing Sunday) “I feel the same way, for the most part. I, obviously, want to test it out tomorrow, and I pretty much feel the same way that he feels, other than if my groin was to fail me. But other than that, I feel the same way.”

(on how much his groin was bothering him Sunday night) “It’s kind of hard to say on a scale of one to 10. But it is something that you just want to get behind you and move away from it. But obviously it’s still here so taking it day by day.”

(on how long his groin has been an issue) “Well, actually a couple weeks ago, then it disappeared, then it flared back up again.”

(on how much the injury has hindered him trying to get the job done on the field) “As long as I’m out there, health is not a problem because if it’s a problem, I shouldn’t be out there in the first place. So for me, it’s just about getting 100 percent healthy.”

After having had chronic recurrent groin problems, each time he goes out there without prolonged rest he takes a great chance of extending his injury........each time it extends the performance deteriorates further and the necessary recovery rest period becomes even longer. If he is even rest this week and the Bye, there is no guarantee that he will come back well for the Bills. But it is more likely than if he is re-injured during this game. In fact, if he further injures his groin, it wouldn't be surprising to me if he does return for the Bills game (which may then not be adequate rest) he is likely to function like he did last game or worse. As admitted above, when he was injured initially, his performance wasn't really noticeably affected. It wasn't until he was re-injured that he showed his deficits beginning with the Jets game. A third re-injury can be expected to be even less kind to his recovery.
