Can the Texans go undefeated?
Matt Schaub & Co. face favorable schedule, but have more to prove

Houston is good. Very good, in fact. But how good can they be by the end of the season? Can they win the Super Bowl? For sure. I mentioned that their division cannot keep up with the Texans, but how about the rest of their schedule? Can they go undefeated?

Obviously, it is very early to discuss such a thing, but let's just say the Texans get past Week 6 and 7 when they play host to Green Bay and Baltimore … then the undefeated talk will be going full force. They visit Chicago in Week 10 and New England in Week 14. Any team can lose any given week in the NFL, and those are the four difficult games on Houston's schedule. Compared to some of the daunting schedules faced by the NFL's other top teams, that challenge isn't too terrible. But going undefeated takes more than a relatively easy schedule. It demands perfection.

I like reading the hype, but undefeated article in week 3? C'mon, I love the Texans, but its way, way early...

We don't need to go undefeated. Let's win the AFC South and get a bye. Then let's secure home field if we can. Undefeated is overrated, unless you are talking about the playoffs

If we can continue to get better every week, who knows. We should be 5-0 and if healthy who scares you?

We all know Kubiak won't allow an undefeated season. Once we get a playoff bye with homefield, the starters will play one-quarter games.

During this crazy-a$$ season EVERYONE does...
The freaking Chiefs beat the Saints at HOME
The freaking CARDS are 3-0
The Vikes shredded the Niner defense!
...and that's just today!

But the Titans are next for us. They know us well and just put up 44 pts on the LIONS!
And that's with CJ-No-K still a non-factor and MegaTron amassing over 160 yds & a TD!
I dunno. With the Jets up next, the Titans could be a trap game.

This is the first time Houston has had the best team in the NFL. There is no question in my mind that we are the best team in this league. This team is going to give us what we Houston fans have been thirsting forever: a Super Bowl win.

To be fair, the Titans scored 21 points on defense and special teams. 2 return TDs and a fumble return TD.

They didn't have a single scoring play (TD) less than 50 yards. If we can not give up huge plays, we should be fine

Agreed. The Titans had a very strange game against an undisciplined Detroit team. I don't think we'll have the same problems with them (or any for that matter). Locker's wheels are a little scary though.

Well, you can call anything "crazy-a$$", but the Redskins also beat the Saints at home, and they (The Saints) are now 0-3 against teams who's cumulative record this season when playing teams not named the Saints is 0-6. The Cards finished last season wining 6 out of their last 8 (including beating the Niners), and that number isnow 9 of their last 11 (so maybe they don't really suck), and the Vikes "shredding" the Niner defense consisted of less than 200 yards passing, and a rushing number of 3.6 YPC.

Oh, and those 44 points by the Titans includes 3 Defensive/Special Teams TD's, which is one more than they got from the offense.

The freaking Cards have a damn good football team.

To be honest, just the fact that someone is mentioning 'Texans' and 'undefeated' (without being completely sarcastic) gives me goosebumps.

For now I'm taking 2 games clear of the lead of the division, after only two games, with a huge divisional match-up coming up against the Tacks who must be buzzing after taking down the Lions.

Sheesh the excitement is building early this year! :smiliedance:

Hey points are points. Offense, defense, S/T... They all add to the total score.

In fact, a team that can score on D or via S/T scares me even more. It's one thing to stop the other guy's offense but to have to generate pts to make up for defensive and special teams scores just makes our offense's job harder.

i think our first lost will be aganist Greenbay since that game does not matter cause lets face it the packers will also beat indy jags and titans

They all matter when you're fighting for home-field advantage. You could still be right, though.

This is the one thing I hate from national TV recognition and winning. Overreaction with premature labels... we still have the bulk of our tough schedule ahead.... this kind of stuff is just stupid.

You can all say what you want, i'm just happy i can see every sports station mention the texans a few times every hour. We used to complain about that and now we dont want to hear it ?

Keep all the hype a coming cause i like it regardless of how early or absurd it may be. :hurrah:

Hype is cool as long as the players stay grounded. As soon as they believe they can't lose - lose they will.

I agree with this and the OP. Yes, there could be a let-down, but I remember 2-14 as well and we might as well enjoy this while we can. If we went 3-13, I'd at least like to enjoy these first 3 wins while I can (and, no, I'm not superstitious at all, so I'll bring up anything).

I dont agree. i think a confident team is a good team, yes you cant over look people but you go out every game expecting to win.

Media trying to jinx us.

No, I do not think we will go undefeated. We are bound to have one, or even a couple of those games to where things aren't just going our way.

Re: Let the hype begin!

We are so good, no one can defeat us. We are not only the best team in the NFL right now, we are the best football team to have ever existed. The Texans are so good, they have been enlisted in the fight against the Martian invaders. Last word was that Foster had run through their secondary lines and Schaub had tossed a granade into a Martian ship. The Martians however intercepted the granade and tossed it back, news at 6PM.

You nailed it!

Hard to argure with the author when you can't see his argument. Anybody got the full text - I'm not an "insider".

I'm still sticking with my 12-4 prediction. But it is nice to hear people talk about this years team as an elite squad, and bee 100% serious.
