Priest Holmes could retire...

Per Cold Pizza, they said he suffered a head injury last weekend and doctors discovered a problem in his spine and last Sunday may have been his last NFL game.

If he does retire it will be a shame, but I think they said on cold pizza if he gets hit again it could paralize him.

Here is what fantasyguru.com said about Holmes:

Although the team and a credible print source has yet to confirm the rumors circulating about RB Priest Holmes, indications that the current rumors are true are so strong, that they likely are true.

According to various reports, doctors have found a lump on Holmes' back that could cause paralysis if hit a certain way. These rumors continue to indicate that Holmes could announce his retirement as soon as Thursday.

Wow, what a bummer. :( I hate hearing great players having to end their careers like this. Such is the game of football.

On the bright side, at least we don't have to face him on SNF. idonno: (if rumors turn out to be true)

Larry Johnson has been looking pretty good...so we aren't really out of the storm just yet.

ESPN News (via the Dan Patrick Show) said he's definitely out for the season. Nothing mentioned about retirement, though.

Reminds me of the episode of the simpsons where homer gets hit in the stomach by a cannon, and the doctor says that if he gets one more, it could kill him..... poor homer.

Priest will be fine, with his millions of dollars and such.

I'm a Raider fan, and I feel bad for the guy. Reminds me of Terrell Davis having to give it up in the prime of his career.

I won't mind not having to defend Priest next Sunday night but it will be a shame if he has to retire, and is a shame that he is on I-R and out for the rest of the year, not to mention it hurts a couple of my fantasy league teams.

I had Johnson with Holmes on each of those teams, but he's still one less option available. Starting Holmes and Johnson together has won a couple games for me.

There was a similar incident last year with Holmes. I believe he had a hip injury that was said to be similar to the one Bo Jackson suffered to end his career. Reporters speculated then that Holmes would retire due to the injury, and they, of course, turned out to be wrong. I'm going to take a wait and see approach to this story right now. I wish Priest the best of luck in his recovery, and I hope to see him on the field come next season because he's a great talent.
