Cowboys or Texans or Both?

jaayteetx

All Pro
Just curious here, being that the Texans are having a sub-par year and the Cowboys contending in the NFC, where does everybody's allegiances lie? I myself have been an avid Houston pro football fan since birth, swearing off anything associated with the Cowboys. How about you guys/gals?

growing up my dad was and still is a cowboys fan as well as my step dad so when they are not playing the texans I usually will pull for them. usually...

I am however a complete houston fan regardless of the sport no matter how good or bad they are in a particular season.

Who are these cowboys u speak of?
I didn't know Texas had another football team...... :heh:

Did not like Dallas when they were 1-15, did not like them when they won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and don't like them now.

Loved Dallas when they were 1-15, loved Dallas when they won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and STILL love Dallas now.

Love my Texans 1-15 or 15-1 :texflag:
No Bandwagoneer here!

I was a Cowboy fan as a kid until the Tyler Rose came to Houston, then became an Oiler fan, still liked the Cowboys until they fired Landry, since then I could care less about the Cowboys..Texan fan all the way and I root for the Saints in the NFC

Well nflnutswife, at least we are both consistent in regards to the cowboys, lol

I lived in Dallas for most of my adult life...had season tickets to the Cowboys going way back to Staubach all the way to Aikman so I've been a longtime Cowboys fan.

I've never lived in Houston but liked the Oilers and now I like the Texans as well. I'm not a troll not a bandwagon fan (whatever that is...every person has a different definition for that term it seems).

I doubt I'll ever spend another cent on pro football live..too rich for my blood....but it's my favorite sport.

Terry,
I think I made that name up (bandwagoneer) lets see, "band wagonier" no, "band wagoner" not sure, I'm just not that person that jumps from the "bandwagon" in tough times! how's that? LOL

1. Houston Texans
2. Philadelphia Eagles
3. Minnesota Vikings
.
.
.
31. Dallas Cowboys
32. Pittsburgh Steelers

Any other questions?

I quit watching pro-football when the Oilers left ( pro-football in the same sentence with the Oilers?) . :penalty:

I began watching again when the Texans arrived. (Texans and pro-football in the same...ah...I digress)

So I guess the answer to the question is..... I would not watch Dallas if they were the only team left. :tv:

:hmmm: In that scenario, who would they play?

However I must admit to checking the scores and rejoicing at each dallas defeat.

Yeah, how bad has this season sucked for you? ;)

Cowboys...then Texans.

Both

I've been a Cowboys fan since the beginning. I still remember the Ice Bowl as though it were yesterday. I remember the life and times of Dandy Don, Craig Morton, ROGER STAUBACH, TROY AIKMAN, the bad decisions of a talent named Dwayne Thomas, the firing of our beloved Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson's season's, Barry Switzer's championship, the maturity of Michael Irving, etc. Oh, how I love my Cowboys--through sunshine and storms.

I also really liked the Oilers, the Luv U Blue days, Billy Whiteshoes, George Blanda, Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, Kenny Stabler, Warren Moon, Buddy Ryan, Bum Phillips.

When a new franchise was merely a dream for Houston, I was optimistic and believed that the team would be here sooner rather than later. Voted for the stadium initiative, and welcomed the new team with much love. I enjoy my PSL and the games I can attend on most Sunday's as well as the wonderful people I have met to help root for the fabulous Texans.

I look forward to a bright future for the Texans and hopefully Superbowls are in the near future for both of my teams.

can't get fire up with the cowboys, will always prefer the texans, i bet every week on nfl games, take the cowboys opponent every game and i take the texans every game. Has not been a real good year, but the texans finally beat the line the past two games.

Ha! Don't worry about it. People have so many definitions for the term "bandwagon" that I've quit trying to figure out what they mean. I like the teams I like and that's just the way it is. To each his own.

I've been a Cowboy and an Oilers fan since I was a little kid. I still support the Cowboys much like I support the Texans - maybe not as much as I support the Texans, but still got love for the Cowboys.

I'm hoping to see both teams in a Superbowl against each other for a TX showdown, some day.

What does that have to do with allegiances?

I'me not saying everybody, but some fans, when the going gets rough, tend to jump on board the winning teams bandwagon. I've caught hell just about every monday from cowboy fans where I work, but I'me sticking with the Texans!

I despised the Cryboys long before I moved to TX. Never was an Oiler fan, as I only paid attn to football since the mid 90s, and not seriously until after the millenium.

1. Texans :texflag:
2. Green Bay

Ditto. :thumbup

I've been born and bred to hate the Cowboys. Respect many of the players, but truly have nothing but spite for the team.

It's not as bad since we got the Texans, but I still find joy in watching them lose.

Unfortunately, living in a Cowboys market my entire life, I've watched the majority of their games by default. It's like a penalty for wanting to watch pro football. Even when Dallas sucked, we still got their games instead of some other great matchup because of market share. Just another reason to hate them...

Seeing as I haven't been watching NFL for as long as some here, being a new fan as such (since about '90) I've been a Minnesota fan and Denver fan. But when the Texans came along I had to jump on (because I used to own an Oilers t-shirt) and they had left town by then so I adopted Houston as my #1 team and kept Minnesota as my #2. Those two will always be in that order no matter how hard the games get to see, listen to etc... Don't know who I will be cheering come playoffs though...anyone but the Colts probably...

Take a good long look at your avatar. That is the reason I believe jerruh is no better than something you scrape off the bottom of your shoe after you step in it. Some things just should not be forgotten. The greatness of the dallas franchise died the day that happened. And I wasn't even a dallas fan.

I agree, the WAY Jerry Jones fired Landry was totally uncalled for, but how long did you expect Mr. Landry to stay? Did you expect us to keep him like Joe Paterno? The man coached Dallas for 3 decades. His time was up, all of the Sports world knew it was going to happen and sadly it did.

What hasn't Jerry Jones done to this franchise?

-Playoffs every year in the 90s
-Accounted 3 rings, a few NFC Championship appearances
-Hired a man many Houston Texan fans want as their next head coach

Great drafts:

1989 DRAFT
Troy Aikman - Super Bowl 27 MVP
Daryl "Moose" Johnston
Mark Stepnoski
Tony Tolbert

1990 DRAFT
Emmitt Smith - Super Bowl 28 MVP & All Time Leading Rusher

1991 DRAFT
Alvin Harper
Russell Maryland
Erik Williams
Leon Lett
Larry Brown - Super Bowl 30 MVP

1992 DRAFT
Darren Woodson
Kevin Smith

1993 & 1994 DRAFT
Larry Allen
Brock Marion
Kevin Smith

They were the only team in Texas when I became an NFL fan, and heck, they're the only team in Texas now!

Unless I was ignorant, I wouldn't post this until my team beat it's "little brother to the south" in a game that counts.

Your going to knock on an owner for 2 bad coaches vs. 3 rings? Every team has coaches that don't work out. The Texans have Dom Capers, was it McNair's fault? Not nessacarily. I wouldn't knock on him for it, Capers had good credentials. The Packers had Ray Rhodes, didn't work out. Heck, the Oilers had 5 coaches in it's first 6 seasons, that's the same amount of coaches Dallas has had in it's 45 year history.

I guess the only difference in the way Rudy T was fired when he was sick, was that upon resigning it was made to look as though it was his idea. Out of the two, I prefer Jerry's approach.

This is the best and most accurate quote I've ever read about the Coach Landry firing and I happen to agree with him.

Jeff Rohrer (former Cowboys LB) said, " You could take 2 people with IQs of three, put them in a room together and let them brainstorm for ten minutes, and they could have found a better way to fire Tom Landry."

Jerry completely botched that but you know we as fans don't have any control over who owns the teams we like. Am I going to stop being a fan of a sports team because of the owner? No. It works for me. For some it doesn't and I understand that.

Jerry messes up alot. He's slimy. But I still like the team. Lots of players don't even like him but show up to collect that big paycheck. It's just the way it is.

Couldn't have said it better. Jerry Jones has no class. I really hope the Eagles beat the Cowboys. It's going to be hard. But maybe they will be pumped and relaxed without TO out there.:yahoo:

GO TEXANS

GO EAGLES

My FAVORITE TEAMS THIS WEEK!!

Texans all the way! That said, being a native Texan and loving this place so much I support all Texas teams but no question Houston comes first, born and raised here. I catch hell everyday at work about the Texans season by people who arent true fans and my only response is "what's your point?" :texflag:
