Jags punter

Tremendous talent. That kick on the Holliday muff was epecially great-- boomed it 60 yards in the air from his own goalline, yet also managed to angle it toward the sideline-- had Holliday going backwards and reaching over his far shoulder trying to catch it. I'm not an expert on special teams, but I would bet a lot of the Texans' special teams penalties were a result of blockers having to scramble for position after his punts. Fortunately the Jags offense is awful, so we'll get a lot more chances to see him in action.

Eh, we signed our punter for nothing and he does well enough. Complete waste of a high draft pick for a punter.

I don't know, dude was worth points for the Jags today and almost caused two turnovers with his kicks. Texans would have easily put up more than 27 today with better field position, which they otherwise earned through steady offense and tough defense. You can't say that about the Texans punter, even though he had a decent game.

I'd rather have Ben Jones, who we got in the 4th, than Anger.

A real special punter is worth a lot... A 3d rounder? Probably not that high, but if you know your are getting a guy like that, that might punt for you the next 15 years, there is nothing wrong with pulling the trigger. Field position is huge, as is not allowing huge returns...

Though usually teams with very few holes take a gamble like that - not teams like the Jags who need help all over the roster.

Given how bad their offense is with Gabbert at the helm, might not be such a bad investment, biggest risk is his leg getting worn out.

hmmm first thread i have ever seen started about an opposing punter....cant believe i even opened this thread :dancer:

On a serious note, the boy has a leg for sure. Prob teams MVP today

Ironically, I believe the last opposing punter-related thread we had would have been about the Jags (lack of) punter on that one infamous play.

jacoby jones is a 3rd rounder, id rather have anger than jacoby jones.. maybe we could be a team that has enough depth one day to use a pick on a superb kicker..

.we had 2 3rd rounders this year, posey and brooks..

if he can be shane lechler, i'd say he's worth a 3rd rounder because the kid has a heck of a leg and may be with the team for 15 years.

At least they got a top of the line player for the pick, punter or not. With their draft history they would have drafted a DE or WR with that pick instead who washes out in 2-3 years.
