Best place to watch Miami game in downtown area

Hey guys,

I'm an dislocated Texan by way of 19 years in the Navy stationed outside of Texas. I will be back home in H-town visiting family this weekend and I'm looking to find a Texans crowd to watch the game with. I'm staying at a downtown hotel, so anywhere close would be great. I only ask, because I know that some "sports bars" are geared towards other team's fans. I know here outside of Jax, there are "sports Bars" which are just for Steeler's fans and what not. I'm not sure if there are bars that have Texans watch parties for home games as most of you die-hards actually go to Reliant. Anyway, If anyone knows of a cool sports bar in the downtown area, please let me know.

Why not grab yourself a game ticket & go to the game? Or get a tailgate pass, take the Metrorail to the stadium, and watch it at the stadium at a tailgate. You're welcome to come hang out at Blue Crew, and our neighbors - Raging Bull have a TV. There's plenty of other tailgates on here as well that would be glad to welcome you.

To answer your question - If I was watching it downtown - I'd hit Lucky's Pub or Pub Fiction.

I normally would, but since I'm stationed just outside of Jax and we're playing there next weekend I'm gonna save my cash and get a ticket row A, field level for under $100, as opposed to $150 in the nosebleeds in Reliant. I appriciate the invite though. I've always loved the tailgating at Reliant when I'm home. The last time I was there though was the post-thanksgiving finigan beat-down game. I was shocked at how sparce the tailgating had gotten. Maybe it was the holiday or simply the reaction to the Dallas brawl.

I'd love to go, but it would just be great to be at a sportsbar where the TEXANS were centerstage and not on an old 13" screen in the corner. I was stationed in San Antonio in 2002-05 and we were lucky to have the games on at all at most sports bars there.

Are these beer and bbq bars or yuppy martini bars? When i left Houston downtown shut down after 5 other than the occasional party on the plaza. I really don't remember there being any bars at all.

Midtown (lower downtown area) has really changed. A ton of good bars. If you are looking for more of a beer type place try Woodrows or Christians tailgate.

You're stuck in JAX??? My condolensces!!! ;)

Take these other folks advice, Midtown etc., are excellent places to watch the game. Even better, as TxDavid suggested, why not score an actual game ticket?? Like he said, if you're near downtown, you can ride the train to Reliant.

Two good suggestions from GHF. Woodrows is the more traditional ice house and Christians is more upscale but not to martini bar level. Alabama Ice House is just east of Shephard on Alabama - they have a bomb taco truck in the parking lot that is dirt cheap.

If you can find someone with a ride there is the Texans Grill out at I-10 and Beltway 8 but get there early or you will be standing the entire game.

Go to Reliant. Just show up. You can find a cheap ticket on the street if your budget is tight. Gotta be in the stadium. TV sucks. You'll spend more at a sports bar than you will going to the game.

Depends on the atmosphere you want

Pub Fiction - Frat Boyish
Little Woodrows 2 locations - midtown - local 20/30 something apartment/condo dwellers. dynamo - not sure about the crowd there
Blackfinn - bloody mary bar - more expensive, but great tv setup.
Lucky's - only been there once, typical sports bar
BW3- chain
Christian's Tailgate - great burgers, tvs all over

Pub Fiction, Woodrows, Blackfinn, BW3 and Christian's are all pretty close to each other, in some cases right across the street, so if you don't like the vibe of one you can move onto the other.

I'd just like to thank Katie and everyone in the "Blue Crew" for inviting me to their tailgate and showing a displaced Texan a hell of a good time. You guys know how to tailgate for sure. You're hospitality is very appreciated.
