Not all the comments I've read from Cleveland fans are friendly. I can only imagine what will happen when Bud dies.

I think Bud is older than 87. BUT, regardless of how we really feel about these old dudes, they are part of the reason we have pro football today. Without them there would be NO Cleveland Browns, Balt Ravens, Tenn Titans, or Houston Texans!

My prayers will be sent for his family.

That's true. Without Bud, we'd be rooting for the Houston Cowboys and celebrating 5 Super Bowls in 9 appearances. :winky: true story...

As a Browns fan, I won't dance on the guy's grave. But the idea that somehow all the hate and anger will now go away is a joke. It's like the ex-wife who cheats on you, stomps on your heart and leaves and takes everything. You can move on in your life, but you don't have to suddenly say forgive, forget and say nice things.

Die Hard Browns fan here....who remembers the move like it was yesterday.

I am not glad this guy is dead. And I never wished any harm on the guy. With that said, i don't have to like him or suddenly say he was a great guy. People who knew him said he was kind and friendly. That is fine. But plain and simple, he committed the worst sin an owner can commit. He moved a team that still had the support of the city.

Best wishes to his family and friends. But as a fan of the Browns, I don't suddenly view him in a different light

When Bud Adams dies I'll say the same thing I'm going to say about Art Modell dying.

"Good, now somebody cut off his head, pack his mouth with a pound of salt, and bury him face down so he doesn't come back"
 
When someone does something so bad that hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people hate that person, I have a hard time wagging a finger at the victims. Modell made his choices knowing full well what the fallout would be. Don't care about the Browns or Cleveland, but F&^% him.

yep. The NFL wanted to put the expansion team in Houston in 1960, but Bud pulled political strings to keep the NFL from using Rice Stadium. He did not want any competition with his new AFL team.

The NFL decided to just avoid the hassle and gave the team to Dallas. The AFL team in Dallas - the Dallas Texans - moved to Kansas City and became the Chiefs. The rest, as they say, is history.

It's well detailed in the book, Oiler Blues: The Story of Pro Football's Most Frustrating Team, among other sources.
 
So the NFL is asking all the teams that play on Sunday to observe a moment of silence for Modell. Cleveland is at home for their game on Sunday. I don't think this is going to go well there.

Flip question, what do Texans fans do in a similar situation? I'd probably take those few moments to take a whiz.
 
I don't wish Bud dead, but I'm not going to lie about it, I'm not going to eulogize the dude, either.

Cleveland would be better off just not trying a moment of silence on Sunday. My buddy's wife is from Ohio, and she knows folks that are actually celebrating his demise. I can't see the Dawg Pound bowing their heads in silence for the man. It's just setting up for a bad scene in the end.

I would turn my back if they asked me to honor Bud Adams. No way I could EVER give that man a shred of respect.

Well, there was a brief moment of silence for Modell at the game Sunday. Although a couple of boos could be heard from somewhere in the vastness of Reliant Stadium. I would assume the Browns did not have a similar moment of silence and surely the Texans will have enough sense not to have a moment of silence for dear ol' Bud when he passes away if his death occurs during football season.

The Browns did not. I heard on the radio that the Modell family asked not to do it in Cleveland.

I wish they had done it in Cleveland, just so we could see the entire stadium erupt with resounding "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" I think that would have been the best way for the city to honor his passing.

I'd imagine the same request will be out there for Bud in Houston. I have no doubt that Bud would hear the Reliant boos in hell if they ask for a moment of silence to honor him. Maybe he'll pass before an away game or off-season so it's a situation that never has to present itself.
 
I heard someone say they hope Modell burns in Hell. I see two problems with this.

First off he moved his team to Baltimore which pretty much means he's going to get off with time served.

Second it's my understanding that Al Davis insists that the expansion rights to Hell belong to him and he's ready to sue to keep other owners out.
