By the guy in a blue suit (who looks like a civil war general) doing all the ads for the NFL network?

The first few times it was interesting to watch -- in an uncomfortable sort of way. Now it's just creepy..

I hardly deem this as "texans talk forum" material but I do agree with you in a major way.

I hate that guy.

Carry on...

He's a bad knockoff of the Ron Burgundy character, in Anchor Man, played by Will Ferrell.

With a dash of Zach Galifianakis (sp?) from the movie Dinner With Schmucks.

And yes, it's way overdone. It's almost as bad as those sappy cell phone commercials where the mom and the daughter are blubbering and crying because they got such a great deal on a cell phone (I think it aired around Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday shopping time...every freaking commercial break during Sunday football. $#%@!)

I think the guy in the blue suit in those new NFL commercials is the formerly creepy Burger King mascot guy that was recently kicked to the curb by BK. If you look hard you can see the resemblance. How does this guy keep getting work and what does Drew Rosenhaus have on the commish anyway? As an aside, Drew Rosenhaus is by far the creepiest guy pictured though...hands down.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks this guy is AWESOME! I love the beard and I think the outfit is funny as hell. Everytime those commercials come on, I end up laughing. My wife just looks at me and smirks. I just say, "man, that guy is awesome!". LOL. She just rolls her eyes at me and goes back to reading.

"It's serious fun!"

I agree with OP. It wasn't that funny to begin with, and the thought of having to suffer through these all season is demoralizing. :gun:

I can't stand that guy and whomever put him there should be fired. He comes across as some dork that doesn't know a thing about football.

Now the Eli / Ware commercial is brilliant where the guy doesn't want his son to become a Cowboys fan.

You're not the only one. I was starting to think that I'm crazy since everyone hated it. I think it's funny as hell.

If it's widely loved, or widely hated, it gets talked about. Either way whoever created it did their job well.

I've basically learned that whether it's commercials, or talk show hosts, if I'm talking about how much I hate them, they have pretty much achieved their objective.

Now the Eli / Ware commercial is brilliant where the guy doesn't want his son to become a Cowboys fan.

Completely agree.

I don't think it's very funny and the fact that they play the commercial so often makes it even less funny. Yes he's annoying.

Embrace modern technology. They created the DVR and fast forward for us to avoid those annoying commercial things. I haven't watched a commercial in a long, long time.

I don't like it either! Couldn't believe it was a commercial for the NFL when I first saw it! ST*pid and very immature! JMO!

You and me both. Drives my wife nuts, which isn't a very long drive :D. That's the reason I don't do the game day thread too much. I finish my cooking during the first 30 minutes of the game so when I sit down with my grub I can watch the game, hit the forward button 7 times and right back to "live" action. Sometimes, not often, it catches up to real time late in the forth quarter then I pause again and go catch up on the MB game day thread. Works well for me and those commercializing b'stads will not influence my purchasing power! :spin:

I'm not a big fan just because it's unoriginal. The tone of the commercial has already been done by Old Spice. Come up with something original, NFL.

Exactly! My friends/family know that I won't answer the phone or text during a game because I'm usually behind everyone in real time.

I get an extra hour of freetime on game days because I can usually watch the entire thing under 2 hours. :D

I don't like being behind...it feels icky, to know that I'm not watching it in real time.

I can be behind by maybe a minute or two, but not a whole hour. I'll pause at commercial, look at MB and refill the drank or take a leak...then fast forward to catch up to the action, so I'm never behind but by maybe a play or two.

I don't like to watch MMA events an hour or more behind either.

I just want to know that what I'm seeing, it's right there along with everyone else watching it in real time too. I'm weird like that. Even watching a game after its finished, it's just not the same.

It's not really what I'd call their best work. It's an ad campaign that got old really fast.

Hopefully they don't try to ride this one through the entire season.

I'm the same way man. I hate not watching sports, especially the Texans, in real time. It almost takes the excitement away, because whatever could happen, already happened.

I'm right there with you. I don't even check the message board until half-time of a game. The message board can become too distracting from the game to me. I'll either have the commercials on mute or change it to fox if there is another game on.

On game days, my wife and I sit down and have a nice leisurely breakfast while the game is recording. And I CHECK to make sure the game is recording by watching everything up to the kickoff. Then I pause the game.

All our friends know not to call us with scores and congratulations/condolences until way past the end.

I don't care if I'm not watching the game real-time. I still squirm in my seat and try to help out.

We usually catch up right near the end of the game and have to watch the last few commercials but that's it.

I think the problem is they haven't added any new material. When an ad has a quirky feel to it, the gag gets old very quickly and you gotta' add new material to make it feel like it's a running dialogue....instead, it just begins to feel like runny crap. And nobody likes runny crap. Right? Right.

So, in a sense, they painted themselves into a corner with that angle for the ad series. They should try and add a new character.

You said it way better than I did! Nice summary.
