Tarvaris Jackson traded to Bills ... VY cut

Tarvaris Jackson is on his way to the Buffalo Bills, according to Ian Rapoport and Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network. Both reporters tweeted that the Bills and Seattle Seahawks have agreed to the trade, with terms not yet finalized.

It's likely bad news for Vince Young, who had been the backup to Bills starter Ryan Fitzpatrick through training camp and the preseason. Young has not looked good, going 25-of-52 for 276 yards in three appearances. He never found the endzone and was picked off twice.

He hadn't even clearly beaten out Tyler Thigpen for the number two job. Brad Smith, quarterback/wide receiver, is on the roster, too.

Jackson, meanwhile, had barely gotten on the field for Seattle in the preseason, as Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson have battled for the starting job. He's only thrown five passes, all of them coming in Seattle's 44-14 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday. He completed three of them.

Jackson did have a reasonable 2011, though. In fourteen starts for the Seahawks, Jackson completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 3,091 yards, and he also had more touchdowns than interceptions ‒ 14 to 13. They're not superstar numbers, but they're the numbers of a pretty good number two quarterback.

Jackson is one of those bubble guys who fans are super happy to have as a number two, and super pissed to have as a number one. I think he finds a nice role at Buffalo.

As for VY - well, I can't see there being too many news reports about his playing career for too much longer.

Vince Young completed 12-of-26 passes for 103 yards and two interceptions in the Bills' third preseason game.
Young played the entire second half and proceeded to make an array of ill-advised throws, finishing with a passer rating of 25.0 and putting his status as the favorite to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick in jeopardy. Young has completed 25-of-52 passes (48.1 percent) for 276 yards (5.31 YPA), no touchdowns, and the two picks through three August games. With Tyler Thigpen also playing extremely poorly, the Bills may want to explore other options. Aug. 25 - 11:23 pm et

Guess that explains this move.

Where's the "Thank you, Houston Texans, for not drafting me..." commercial now????

What company threw that piece of **** commercial together with VY and RB where those two guys thank the Texans for passing on them both, in essence motivating them to become better players with teams who wanted them more than we did???

Bastards. That's cosmic justice if ever he concept existed. I don't feel sorry for him.

VY was in those commercials too??? :foottap: Show's how much I intentionally did not pay attention.

VY had his 15 minutes and should be set for life but isn't . He and Tebow were great college players who's game doesn't translate into the pros . Why ... they can't throw and VY isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer . Now ride into the sunset Vince , back to Austin , where they can find a job for you on the Longhorn Network .

Vince Young ‏@VinceYoung
"I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season".

VY cut.

Just think what the coaches were going through . Fitzpatrick aced the Wunderlich and VY had a 6 . That's 44 points difference , so does that change the QB meetings and what they can install .

I think that answer is pretty clearly NO, and is one of the big problems I've had with the VY jocksniffers from the beginning.

Totally disagree, they would worship Colt just as much if they'd won the MNC. They pretty much already do. Take a look at shaggybevo sometime and you'll see what I mean.

This move makes no sense for the Bills. They give away a late round pick to the Seahawks in exchange for a marginal QB, who may or may not be better than VY, and who has a salary of 4 million this year. In the process, they cut VY and pay him 350k of his potentially 2 million dollar one year deal. So they are spending 4.35 million on backup QBs this year, plus whatever else they have on the roster as the #3 QB.

Idiots, but Seattle sure did make out well. I guarantee you Jackson was getting cut next week if he wasn't traded.

BUT, if he's cut, he can choose to go somewhere other than Buffalo.

Seriously dude just needs to hang it up. Maybe can play Arena League, or more like rec league football somewhere.

This ShaggyBevo site is CRAZY.

Its almost like a parody of fandom. I swear, Im somehow reading an SNL skit.

I haven't been this entertained as I am today on that site in ... ever. I have nothing against VY just his fanboys and they are getting their just deserve today.

Now for Phase 3....VY to an arena league team, where he can scramble and make plays with his running abilities.

THEN the uproar by the VY fan boys will be epic, just begging for some NFL team to sign him.

From ShaggyBevo:

Exactly what I was thinking! He could start for the NY Jets like right now. Its baffling to me that a man with his talent is out looking for a job and Tebow, Sanchez, Leinart, Tavaris $#@!ing Jackson and others have NFL QB jobs.

Shows a level of desperation of VY fandom when the battle cries are "c'mon, he has got to still be better than these 3 backup QBs!".

Someone did spout a sensible opinion though - and that was going North of the border. Do a Ricky Williams and head north of the 49th parallel - sell your humility and work your butt off for a couple of years and see what happens from there. Actually, if there is a pro-football league a QB with his skill set could work with, it would be the CFL.

The bolded part is not something VY will ever be able to do.

And that is the difference between realty and Shaggybevo.

Nothing worse than seeing an individual with such physical gifts waste it on a lack of matter between the ears. I can't see why a team would be entertaining bringing him in for a look after this.

According to profootballtalk the deal was contingent on Jackson re-working his contract. That's why it took so long for it to be finalized. They had to work it out with his agent ahead of time.

That would make a lot more sense. No backup QB deserves more than 3 million a year, and certainly not one as crappy as Jackson.

I agree, although I would like to see what Jackson would be able to do behind a good offensive line and weapons around him. When Favre got to Minnesota they got Harvin and Rice finally stepped up. Last year, he ran for his life almost every game. I don't think he's starting quality, but he's no Jimmy Clausen.

That's ... just ....

I pray that's fake.

Me too! Please God, tell me it's fake.

LOL! Well, look's like there's gonna be a whole lot of empty seats in Reliant on Nov. 4, eh?

Loving every second of this!

I can't help but wonder if firing him is a sport unto itself. I mean If I had to fire him I'd not sure how I'd do it, but I'd make it fun.
