Every now and then really good football players get caught in a numbers game with their current team and end up being cut. Are there any players players out there that could help solidify the Texans? One guy that can help us would be Cam Thomas from San Diego. Given our injury issues on the DL, and the fact that SD is loaded on the DL, Cam Thomas might be cut and would be an excellent pick up for us.

Anyone else?

I like Kyle Williams in San Francisco should we IR Posey. He can return punts/kicks if we need him to and he brings a lot to the table that Kubiak likes. He had a hellish game in the NFC Championship game, but that was not the norm for him.

San Diego is loaded at defensive line? That's something I don't hear very often. The Texans D-Line is far better, IMO. When healthy of course. Watt has been out so yeah it's not going to look as dominating at the moment in these meaningless pre-season games. Not to mention Cody at the nose.

I hope some team out there has some inside linebacker depth they need to waive because our group is not very confidence inspiring after Cushing. Bradie James, Tim Dobbins and Mister Alexander do not strike fear into the hearts of many offenses I'm afraid. I'm hoping we can pick up someone off the street who has a shred of potential.

Maybe the Saints have to cut those DTs that embarrassed our 2nd string O-line Saturday night. Wouldn't mind having Wade take a gander at them for Cody replacement units.

Jabar Gaffney just hit the market again....... Again, this is irrelevant if Posey isn't stashed on IR or practice squad but Kubiak has been looking for a vet who knows the system and can play.

DT Gerard Warren, in his reduced role, was one of the Patriot's most effective interior linemen down the stretch last year...sign him for the veteran minimum in rotation with Cody and Mitchell. Ra'Shon Harris' injury makes the defense very thin at this position and Cody's back injury could become chronic.

The Patriots also released Tim Bulman. If they do in fact use Jamison and Crick to fill in at depth in the middle (which I really don't buy), they may want to add another player at the 3-4 base DE spot. Smith and Watt normally rotate inside in the Texans' nickel and dime and so do their backups, Jamison and Crick, but asking them to fill in at NT in the base defense (which they used about 45% of defensive snaps last year) is another thing even in Phillip's one-gap scheme. I like the idea of keeping seven defensive linemen. If Cody's condition becomes problematic the Texans' marshmallow interior defense becomes softer yet. I'd rather see Fangupo put on the practice squad and veteran depth signed.

WR Donte Stallworth was also released by the Patriots...don't know if this would even be an upgrade and the Texans already have to make hard decisions at WR (will Posey go to the Practice Squad, and will they keep Holliday).

There are teams that are overly deep at certain positions so expect more quality players to be cut by the end of this week.

They have Cam Thomas listed as third team NT and more than likely would be 3rd team DE. If he's cut I think he'd be a solid addition given the Cody situation. Mitchell is explosive enough to play some DE as well.

Brett Swain has also looked good for them, and he looked good when he got playing time in GB. He'll probably get caught in a numbers game in SF. He's got good size (6' 200lbs) as well. SF is loaded at WR

Remi Ayodele was cut by the Saints, he started the superbowl for them, but don't know anything about him tbh, he's a DT and started in the big one so could possibly provide some depth at a position we're thin at?

Chris Cooley has health concerns but you know how Kubiak loves tight ends. If he is healthy he could be a weapon in the red zone.
