Another chance to see some outstanding College prospects
who are coming into the NFL College Draft soon, including
LT Eric Winston for the 'Canes. The truth is, I'd rather see
the guy on the depth chart right behind Winston. He is
Reggie Youngblood, one of the most sought after scholastic
players in the country this past year at any position, from Booker T. Washington H.S. here in Houston.
 
anyone watching this game tonight please post here any thoughts on players who impress. I've got it recording but at work now so it would be nice to get some live feedback. :yahoo:
 
I'm kind of torn about this game.

I want Miami to win because I do like Miami and it would knock off the V-Tech treat to Texas but I want V-Tech to go undeafted, too, so the BCS will hopefully be trashed...

Here is something that might hurt VA Tech: BC lost. One of the big reasons that VA tech might be a threat is strength of schedule. If Tech wins, they will have beaten Miami, and Miami might be their only ranked team they beat. Texas has beaten Ohio state, Tech, and COlorado: all ranked teams.
 
Miami looks much better than VT right now. Marcus Vick is playing horrible! Ive been watching Eric Winston play at LT, but im going to hold my judgement on his play until the game is over.

From what I've seen of Winston tonight, he's playing appreciably better than
he did when I last saw him on TV in the FSU game earlier this year. He shows some descent agility on pass blocking, but is an overwhelming run blocker.
I dunno..... still gotta wonder if he's not another NFL RT masquerading as a college LT ?

He had a bad game vs. #1 D in the nation. I've seen him play alot this year and he has looked very good. Still needs another year of seasoning before going pro though.
 
Marcus will make a fine RB. Wait, he can't hold on to the ball. If he's got one year left, he better learn how to play the secondary.
 
put Larry Coker on the short list for the Texans next head coach-

Coker's highly successful stint at UM is his most recent stop in a 33-year coaching career, including 22 seasons as an assistant at the collegiate level. He's found success at every stop along the way.


Prior to becoming Miami's head football coach, Coker served under Butch Davis as the Hurricanes' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since Davis' first season at UM in 1995. While the offensive coordinator from 1995- 2000, UM went 51-20 overall and 33-9 in conference play. With Coker as the offensive coordinator, UM was 27-9 at the historic Orange Bowl and 19-11 on the road. Additionally, the Hurricanes won all four bowl games during that sixseason span.


Prior to his arrival at the University of Miami in 1995, Coker spent two seasons at Ohio State (1993-94) coaching the defensive backfield. The Buckeyes participated in two bowl games during his tenure and were Big Ten co-champions in 1993. From 1990-92, Coker was offensive coordinator at Oklahoma, assisting the Sooners to two bowl victories. Before heading to Norman, Coker spent seven seasons as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State in Stillwater. In his seven seasons with the Cowboys he coached 1988 Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders, while the team went on to win four bowl games. Coker first made the jump to Division I with Tulsa from 1979-82 as the offensive backfield coach. Tulsa won three Missouri Valley Conference championships during his four seasons.


Wherever Coker has gone in his coaching career, success has been sure to follow. The Okemah, Okla., native has been on college teams that have made 16 bowl appearances, and Coker's teams have been victorious in 13 of those 16 games, including a 4-0 mark as an assistant at Miami and a 3-1 record as a head coach.

Miami looked really good. Their defense was smothering and some of the best I have seen in a long time.
 
Miami definitely showed why they were ranked the #1 defense in the NCAA coming into the game, and Virginia Tech's #2 ranked defense wasn't bad either, but Miami's defense scored and created too many turnovers for VTech's defense to keep them in the game.

So what is it? Nunusguy is the only one who has posted an opinion of Winston. Anyone else zero in on this prospect?
