Jax WR matchups

This is going to be a huge issue this week,

Smith is 6'1"
Williams and Wilford both are 6'4"
Jones and their TE are both 6'6"

Duanta, Faggins, and Buchanon are all 5'10"

Is this as huge of a mismatch as I think, or will they try scheme to mitigate it?
 
The height advantage isn't really that big of a deal until you get closer to the redzone. I'm more worried about how our interior OLine will do against Stroud and Henderson.
 
Reggie Williams may be 6'4', but he plays like he's 5'2.

The colts have lil' DBs too, but the Jags couldn't exploit that. You should be fine.
 
DB's are short for a reason. It is easier for them to swivel to keep up with a receiver. You want someone that is fast and can change directions in a hurry. The height advantage is a factor, but it is overplayed.
 
you forget that besides smith all of their recievers have the same problem as bradford they drop almost everything thrown their way...and they're not the speedsters they were made out to be...reggie williams also had to leave last weeks game early with an injury and will probably be questionable going into this weeks game...i'd worry about stroud and henderson if i was you
 
The WR corp just got upgraded, the coaches have finally conceded that Wilford is a better option than Williams. The deflected drop for the interception aside, all this kid does is make plays.

After last year and last week I am looking for an absolute blowout, but then again, you guys look like the '85 Bears when we line up across from you. We on the other hand look like Middle Tennessee State.

Deangelo Hall was on NFL Network and stated that he would rather face a tall 6' 3" WR than a 5' 10" WR. I geuss the shorty players are a little more shifty. also before saying "tall reciever" think of comparing vertical leap numbers with the DB's.
 
The only person to be worried about is Matt Jones. We managed to beat the Jag's WR's lst year, but its this new edition that should concern us. WHo will cover him? I expect to see faggins and coleman double him up whenever our lb's aren't trying to get a jam on him. But when it comes to gametime I don't see him being a threat cause of his unsure hands and rough routes. I see our DB's reading his movements well.
 
With the Texans ranked dead last in stopping the run, I'd worry about Fred Taylor. If Joe Pendry was the Jags OC, we wouldn't stand a chance.
 
I'm excited about this game. I want to see how we do against Fred and Byron and Matt and the others, and the fact that we just won our first game and always elevate our game against the Jags makes for any even bigger matchup. The Jags are going to be hard to beat. I expect them to be a wildcard team, and we are playing them in Jacksonville. It will definitely be an uphill climb, and like all our games, the first quarter is the most important one. I don't think we can come from behind against anyone, much less the Jags.
 
IMO jimmy smith should be a hall of famer...he and rod smith have done so much for those teams it's not funny...they've been the corner stone for those two clubs for so long...i still remember those good match-ups between the broncos and the jags during the late 90's in the playoffs

No height is a big deal all over the field it's just a bigger deal closer to the endzone
 
Earnest Wilford will be the one to watch.
He had a record breaking game against the Rams (even though we lost)

Del Rio just announced we will see alot more out of him this Sunday.
Matt Jones has issues always trying to one hand the ball.
Reggie Williams sustained a concusion and may not even play.
Jimmy Smith is Jimmy Smith. Byron likes to go to Jimmy mostly after Fred Taylor establishes the run and the safetys start easing up.

I would say be on the lookout for Fred Taylor the most because we've had issues with receivers and dropped passes lately. But as far as passing goes, look for Jimmy Smith going long on 1st downs, Wilford in third down situations and Matt Jones in the Red Zone going vertical. The kid is a freak of nature.

We have Mathis, but they will only go to him once a game. They should be throwing everything at thim but the kitchen sink on 1st down. Its our coaching not the players that will determine the outcome of this game.

Maybe the coaches will call the same play that Mathis scored on. It worked and the coaches are not known for their creativity.
 
Think about it if you have ever played football. Wouldnt you rather face a taller receiver who is more of a target to hit then a small one? Tall receivers make easy targets and easy people to knock the ball out of there hands because you come up on them. Small receivers can usually shield it within there body and usually are harder to predict on quick slants because they dont have as much leg need to turn fast.
 
Howdy Texans, Jag fan here.

I must first say that I come in peace, I will not bash if you all don't.

I also must say, I expected you all right up with us, and the Titans to have your record. I am also concerned about this game because your team has owned ours over the last few games.

In my opinion, you all should be more concerned about our running game vs. the passing game. Fred Taylor was looking real good last Sunday, and unfortunatly, in Coach Del Rio's words "it was a wasted effort" since we lost.

Our passing game has potential, if we can get our receivers, Jimmy included, to catch the freakin ball! We have a serious case of "drop-itis" this year.

As far as our D, Henderson and Stroud are great up front as are Hayward and Spicer on the ends. Our weakness right now seems to be at LB, and hopefully, it will be corrected this weekend.
