Preview of The Jacksonville Jaguars

Time to prepare for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They're coming off a tough loss vs. St. Louis this previous Sunday, so are obviously mad. They will also want revenge on us for sweeping them clean last year (included our first shut-out win in franchise history.)

They have a fighter in QB Byron Leftwich, a hard-hitting defense, and a great coach with Jack Del Rio. They also have good / noisy fans, so it will be very difficult do deal with the noise level down there Sunday Afternoon.

Our Houston Texans will ahev to do key things to win this big game Sunday. My kesy to the game will be available tomorrow. Until then, have a good day, and continue to cheer the Texans on!

Go Texans!:texflag:

Jacksonville is definitely a tough and physical team but they've definitely had the tendency to play down (or up) to the level of competition so far this year (winning at Pittsburgh, vs. Cincinnati, both close games, and losing a close game at Indianapolis, but needing OT to beat the Jets and losing a close one to St. Louis while also losing to Denver). The Texans have generally played the Jags pretty tough, but we swept them last year and kept them out of the playoffs so they will be looking for revenge.

I thought both teams were on the way up last year. But, of course, that's changed now. :(

I think the Jags have the potential to make a wildcard run this year. It'll be tough in the AFC, and they know every game is that much more important. I expect a tough, tough (yeah, that's right - DOUBLE TOUGH ;) ), game next Sunday. The Texans will have to fight for everything, because I have no doubt that the Jags will come out ready to play hard.

Geee, you were doing so well till that point. Anyway you are correct though, tough game for us to come away with a win. IMO, I doubt we will do it. Score 28-16 Jags.

"They have loud / noisy fans..."

Not really. Was there in Jax last year for the shutout and rooted on the Texans like never before. Actually, I was amazed they did what they did. Thing is, the upper levels of Alltell Stadium were darn near empty. The pre-game got somewhat crazy, but then again, I guess the shutout had a lot to do with overall noise. I still talked to a couple of Jags fans about how sad it is that they can't fill their stadium. And what week was this...16? They were still technically in the hunt for a Wild Card berth. Anyway, if we can get on 'em early, the crowd shouldn't be a factor. It wasn't last year.

Oot.

After last year's sweep from you guys, and the fact that the fans want to make a statement to the City, oh it's gonna be loud this year!

Good luck and here's to an injury free game.

We have definately carried a chip on our shoulder since you guys ruined our playoff hopes last year.

Revenge!!!!!!!!!!!

I have noticed a definate difference in the noise level this year, compared to last season. I think covering those seat helped cause it brought all the fans into a larger lump. Our last home game(against the Bengals) was very, very loud. Even the old folks in front of me got up! That RARELY happens....but, don't worry, the weather for Sunday is the exact opposite as last years, Mostly sunny in the low 80's, The Jag fans will be loud I guarantee.

The jags also comeback from losses pretty tough, so, I see a beautiful and enjoyable game, for us anyways.

Here's to no injuries and a good game!!

Granted, that was for a Sunday night football game.

Good to see that you guys have not had a blackout yet though. Last time I saw you needed to sell 900 tickets by 1pm Thursday to avoid the first.

So whats up with the run defense this year? I guess we are going to send Domanick around the sides on almost every play.

This will be a hard fought game on both sides. But, the history is there, our players remember the clothesline and foul play from past seasons. Still leaves a bad taste in their mouth.

This is our biggest rival, at least IMO. If we will come out for a kill, it will be for the Jags. The sight of teal makes them see RED.

Good luck Jags, this could go either way. No shutout, no 30pts to the Jags, it will be a close one.
Will not be an easy for either side.

We will introduce you to Jerome Mathis, that blur on the field. :texflag:

GO TEXANS!!!!!:texflag:

Is FILO girl making her award-winning kittybox cake this weekend? ;)

mmmmm, a crunchy one! :heh:

At Alltel, the Jags have been play excellent special teams. I was there for the Seahawks game, and the Jags pinned the Seahawks the whole game. I think the Jags will play the same game plan against the Seahawks.

There's a big difference between Mathis and Scobey (KR Seahawks):

Scobey:
7 games
20 returns
474 yards
23.7 average
31 long
0 TD
0 40+

Mathis:
5 games
25 returns
759 yards
30.4 average
89 long
1 TD
3 40+

No doubt this will be a hard game. The Jags will come out swinging right away. Look for some early scores in the first.

Jerome Mathis? Yes, he does have some...er...ALOT of speed. He will be tough to contain for our ST. But we also have a dangerous weopon. His name is Ernest Wilford. This kid is a pure gamer. He has made spectacular catches (and in the clutch) alot in his 1-1/2 year career. I don't know if some of you texan fans saw the Jags game on Sunday, but if you did, you all have to admit this kid has skills. Look for him to contribute in a big way come Sunday.

Byron Leftwich is a more comfortable QB now that his line is holding up. Look for him to go over 250 yrds passing and a couple of TDs this weekend. Matt Jones is another guy that is getting the feel of this league a little better, as he continues to make some plays. And I'm sure that JDR will remind him that he has more than one hand. :thumbup

Fred Taylor is playing like he is back in his prime. He ran for over 160 yrds against the rams, so, of coarse, he is always a key factor towards a Jag W. Jimmy Smith's engine has not slowed down due to his old age and hopefully Reggie Williams will (dare I say?) have a BREAK OUT GAME! :brickwall

Our defense will get its act together by Sunday. Marcus Stroud has not been as much of a factor this season, but look for he and Hen to get a few sacks on Carr. Paul Spicer has been one of our suprise players this season and Reggie ayward is playing up to his contract. No doubt Rashean Mathis is a pure athlete, and one of the best corners in this league. Deon Grant is likely out for this matchup, so look for Gerald Sensabaugh to get his first professional start.

This team is ready for this game. I look for a hard fought game, and a Jags W.

Jaguars: 31
texans: 17

BTW, if anybody wants any avatar bets over who wins and loses, I am all for it. And, no. I am not making a bet that the Jags will score over 30, just bettin' for a win...

Nice to see you over here...fldvldog. I'm been over here all day...go to http://www.texanstalk.com/cgi-bin/forums/YaBB.pl?catselect=general_cat I do have a pretty bad bet going on, Jags scoring 30 points. But by your prediction. Jags 31, Texans 17....Jag break 30 points. I feel this game is going to be an explosion of offense by the Jags. The Texans will be one dimensional, running the ball. The Jags will put 7/8 men in the box and shut down the running game. That will put all the pressure on the Texans OL to protect Carr in a passing game...we know how effective that is. Hayward and Spicer will become tatooed on Carr's jersey.

It's also nice that you take it as a threat and to know a ROOKIE threatens a team. Shows that if he has potential now, he will be incredible in the future. As far as AJ goes. He by rumor will not be at practice today and is not likely for the game. However who knows maybe he will make it. Also for all of you who think it will be a 1 dimensional game. You are surely fooled. Every game our passing yards have improved and this week I think Carr finally feels safe with gaffney armstrong and mathis and has realized bradford cant catch. Look for alot of yards for DD and quite a few for carr with 1 interception.

However jags still take it 24-17 :(
My (Being a texan fan prediction) 24-21 Texans

Uh so yea, we opened at 11.5 point favorites and it's up to 13 now. Bet now guys, no way in hell we beat you by 13, easiest money you guys will ever make.

Doc asked me to make one for the game....

You coming to W'nM, Double Barrel?
Maybe I will have one. :ok:

After reading your board for a few minuites, you all seem to be a pretty cool bunch. Hopefully we can have some good discussion this week, and the beginning of next. PLEASE don't be like the Bengal fans! I don't mind a bit of smack talk, but they got downright ******ty, especially after we beat them.

Here's to a good game, and I'll be back throughout the week for some discussion.

Hello Jagibelieve,
I would like to know if you think the Jags will kick the ball to Mathis or will the wimp out and squip kick it?
Also what is the mood of the Jag fans comming into this game? Do you all think that you will win?

We are starting to get that winning feeling around here... I predict that we will win again this week what are your thoughts?

:texflag:

My prediction:

Texans start at the 40 after all kickoffs...just kick the damn ball outta bounds...give up the 40, or give up 6...not a hard choice

I doubt we will squib kick it at all. Josh Scobee is 2nd in the NFL and 1st in the AFC in touchbacks. He has kicked several out of the back of the endzone in Alltel this year. If he doesn't kick it into the endzone, it will be darn close.

The mood is kind of 50/50 after coming off the loss last Sunday. I think we will win, not only because I am biased, but Coach Del Rio has made some changes and lit a fire under some behinds this week. Our run defense is the big question for us. It looks like Winborn will get the start over Ayodele this Sunday.
