Ferguson in the 1st, Trade up for Mcneil in the late 1st

To me this looks like our best option, this would give us two Bookend tackles to protect David and have at our disposal for years to come we can release Wiegert & Mckinney, move Wade to RG and Pitts to LG. Hodgkin(Sp?) at center and I think that would be a much better offensive line. Oh, Ferguson at OLT and Mcneil at ORT. Thoughts???

The bridge between stupid and useless is short.
we're going to have the first pick in the second rd to. in a year where lots of tackles are projected in the first rd someone could very easily slip...

i think the scnerio you suggest mirrors the babin deal...we give up extra picks for 1 player who may be a bust. people complain about cassely for that deal and yet i see suggestions for the same thing all the time in upcomming drafts...go figure.

anywho, this franchise dosent need to give up anymore picks...if anything we should be looking for a trade back scenerio with the first pick (3-5 spots). we have a LOT of holes to fill ,and we've squandered far to many picks as is...

I dont think that trading up is necessary. If houston wants to go that route, it would actaully be a good draft just to wait until the second. I personally think that there will ba alot of teams waiting on Leinart,we trade down and still get Ferguson in the first, pick up an extra second, and pick another OL in the second and hopefully Pope is still there too.

I think this draft is to deep at OT to trade up for one in the 2nd we would still have Trueblood or Withworth to choose from.

Yeah there gonna be alot of teams that want lienart to bad he belongs to us hell well give them Broken Down Carr im sure we could get a couple 1st rounders for him or at least a 6th rounder for him.

Trade down and draft Eric Winston and Daryn Colledge

I am guessing we could get at least a second rounder for our number one
My preference would be trade down once to 5-7 then trade again 12-14
maybe end up with an extra 2 and two 3s

1 OT Eric Winston Miami
2 OT Daryn Colledge Boise State
2 OLB Garrett McIntyre Fresno State
3 TE Jeff King Virginia Tech
3 DE Kyle Williams Louisiana State
3 WR Mike Hass Oregon State
3 FB Brian Leonard Rutgers

4 OG Matt Lentz Michigan
5 RB Taurean Henderson Texas Tech
6 OC Pat Ross Boston College
7 LB John Syptak Rice

You explain to me why we should draft another QB to get killed behind our oline. Why not fix the biggest problem first.
Were did undrafted player come from.

There will be better TEs than Jeff King in the third.

Our first should be traded up for two picks and we take home grown J.scott and
mecedes lewis, a te could serve us good as a blocker and reciever- two birds w/
one stone. With the first second take a linebacker that fell out the first, and try to get at least a late second for p-burnt(if we trade him to a desperate team, I bet the ravens would want him for thier nickle) The late or mid second will give us a shot at a good right tackle or we can take a center to convert him to right guard. In the third we can hopefully take a decent de or nt, and with the other third we can hopefully get a hidden gem safety. If Huff or Bing fall to the second we should trade this pick and pursue them by throwing in nexts years third or fourth. On day two we shold aim for best player available with the fourth, no matter what the position, a fifth should go to the best returner available. The sixth should be the best lineman available(the falcon's line are all late picks. And finally the seventh should be a quarterback, someone from around the area. If the organization wants to win the fans back, give us a team of homegrown talent, like the pats are so good at.

Mercedes Lewis cant block, but he would be a great pass receiving TE. Kinda Like KII when he came out just not as good. I would rather have Pope, he reminds me more of a Jeremy Shockey or Jason Witten who can block well and receive.

There is a huge salary jump going from the 1st pick in the 2nd round to late in the 1st round. It really isn't worth it unless you move up 10+ picks.

Also, lets say that San Fran, Houston, and Cleveland all ended up 2-14. Lets say the draft or ended up

1 San Fran.
2 Houston
3 Cleveland

In the second round, the order changes because San Fran moves to the end of the list of 2-14 teams.

2nd
1. Houston
2. Cleveland
3. San Fran.

3rd round
1. Cleveland
2. San Fran.
3. Houston

4th round
1 San Fran.
2 Houston
3 Cleveland
.
.
.
you get the idea.

ogre we play both of those teams this year. the draft order wont require slotting because there will be a tie breaker even if we all 3 finish with the same record...

someone correct me if im mistaken please.

You are correct.

I like Winston, Ferguson or Bush in the first round. I know alot of you feel we do not need bush because we have DD, but Bush would be a talented WR for us if he is as fast as advertised. Bush would be a bigger Steve Smith type of reciever. Winston and Ferguson are a push you can pick either and they both will be good guys, even though I think Winston is the better player. He has been better over a longer period of time, plus he is stronger and able to keep his weight up.

In the second and third rounds we should look for more OL help. Hopefully we will be smart enough to take a good LT or RT and move him to G. In the third we should look for Defensive help and possibly a TE depending on FA.

Have you seen Winston play at all this year? He has been terrible...He consistently gets beat despite having TE help...He is not the same player that he was pre-injury...Maybe by the end of the season he'll regain his old form, but if he continues to play this way, there is no way I'd invest a first round pick on him...If you guys are so set on taking two OTs with our first two picks, why don't we just get Ferguson with our first and either Whitworth or Colledge with our second?

then in according to the tie breakers the teams flip draft slots in the latter rounds just the same makes no difference.

Winston has looked good so far & seems to be regaining his mobility/form. He is more polished technically, very effective use of hands and good footwork. Ferguson is still progressing as a LT, but because of his frame and athletic ability his upside is far greater than Winston, he reminds me very much of Seattle LT Walter Jones. But here is the glitch-

Casserly feels the pressure to take a LT with the 1st pick, Cappers and the entire staff need to re-gain control and return to respectablity. the safer short term pick is Winston, he is ready to come in and start from day one. D'Brickashaw is more of a project and will require some time to adjust, develop & get stronger.

So for a GM/Coach on the hot seat who meets their best interests? I'll take it one step further. Since Casserly is so smart he may even try to trade down a couple spots, picking up valuable draft picks and take Winston thus satisfying the Texans need for a LT and saving his own neck in the process. meanwhile the top long term franchise tackle slips past our grasp :texans:

Ferguson and Winston possibly have more upside potential - this is debatable - but the best LT - coming out of college and ready to start - could well be Boise State's Daryn Colledge ( 6'-3 3/4" and 302 lbs, as measured at this year's pro day ).

NFL Draft Blitz has this to say about him : "...excellent mechanics...above average mobility...great job against pass rushers...well coached...very polished...solid prospect with great character who is just below elite status."

Sporting News has this to say : "...explosive...good footwork, balance and knee bend...outstanding in pass protection...above average downfield blocker...plays with a mean streak...plays hard to the whistle..outstanding work ethic...(maybe)the nation's best pass protector."

His weakness is that he does not have prototypical size, needs to add bulk and needs to get stronger.

He has started every game for the Broncos since the 2002 season.

He compares favorably to Jordan Gross, who is currently the 5th rated OT in only his 3rd year.

Colledge currently is projected as a late first round pick, or early second. I expect to see him move up the boards. All the media attention is on the other players because they play in more competitive conferences, but make no mistake, scouts are aware of Colledge and his evential rating will be determined by the post-season all-star games and the combine workouts.

At this time, I would have no hesitation in trading down for extra picks and taking Colledge mid-round.

Gross may be the 5th rated RT but he been a disappointment as a LT which is what he was drafted for. The Panthers even gave him a year to season himself at RT and then moved him to LT in his 2nd year. He has now been moved back to RT because of his performance last year at LT.

I believe that the tiebreaker isn't head-to-head wins, but strength of schedule of schedule in ascending order (easiest to worst). The philosophy is if two teams are 2-14, it is more understandable that the one with the harder schedule has that record. Therefore the one with the easier schedule needs the higher pick more. Make sense?
