Texans #1

(12:01 AM): Texans still “#1”… Houston’s early-season hold on the #1 pick at the 2006 draft was hardly threatened last night as the Texans lost badly in Seattle. The loss dropped the Texans to 0-5 and leaves them as the NFL’s only winless team. There’s a logjam ‘chasing’ the Texans, though, as there are 5 teams at 1-4: Arizona, San Francisco, and Green Bay, each of which had byes this weekend, along with Minnesota and Oakland, who are both living proof of the pre-season observation that ‘the Randy Moss trade would help both teams!’ There could be a little movement at the top of the 2006 draft board this coming weekend, though, as two 1-4 teams – Green Bay and the Vikings – will play in Minnesota – while Arizona and Oakland have winnable games of sorts with the Cardinals hosting Tennessee and the Raiders home to Buffalo. Meanwhile, Houston will be in tough with a home game against unbeaten Indianapolis.

There'll be specualtion about Carr's future, especially if USC's Matt Leinart is available when Texans make their first pick, but what Carr needs is some help starting with a young LT prospect like Eric Winston of Miami of D'Brickashaw Ferguson of Virginia. RB Bush, the other USC guy in the mix early on, could also get a look

Scouts notebook GBN-

basicly echoing most discussions here on this board. they project the Texans to be selecting #2 overall. this could all be avoided if the Texans win a couple games which I feel they will accomplish, so with the 4th pick & Leinart, Bush and DeBrickashaw 1-2-3 that means Eric Winston will be the Texans 1st selection in the 2006 Draft. you've heard it here first

After seeing the way that Winston has played after his injury, it seems that the best thing to do if D'Brick is gone is to trade down and get some more picks, while grabbing Jonathan Scott.

I would aim at at least two first rounders that we could get if we trade up, remember the cowgirls, Parcells said he was aiming at ware, spears, and merriman, and he was planning on getting 2 out of 3 with their two picks. The texans staff needs to have a draft day agenda like this. That being said, trade up and take j.scott and m.lewis, a te is like another o-lineman and a reciever, how do you argue with that.

I think capers is gone next season and casserly will survive two more, or as long as david is here, which I have no problem with. The next head coach will have to punk cassserly, I don't even know who the cowgirls GM is, cause Parcells seems like he runs the show. That needs to be our next head coach.

I say we grab bush just because his talent cant be passed up. We will most likely get 1st 2nd or 3rd pick. Then we put DD #2 receiver because he can catch and is a good runner and then bamm. A explosive offense- if we suceed in finally composing a OL.

I don't think we are in the spot to pick BPA just because we will probably have a top 3 pick, if anything trade down draft a LT, then a G or C, and then a TE.

Here is an idea.

Lets trade down with Denver for their 2 first rounders and their 2nd and third. Then we can use our picks to upgrade our Linebackers(AJ Hawk) plus it will give us the neccesary picks to draft the entire UT Offensive line. A full line which knows how to communicate withitself and has expierence playing together could be huge for us.
