Fourth Round...

The Pencil Neck

Hall of Fame
So now we've got the 4th, 26th, and 31st picks in the next round.

We've got:

Massie, OT
Sanders, OT
Ta'amu, DT
Toon, WR,
Criner, WR
Green, TE
Robinson, ILB
Childs, WR

There's some good value here.

I'm thinking we use two of the picks in the 4th round and trade the other one for a future pick maybe?

we need a Kicker :) and maybe a punter since our punter got injured last year ... : I

I know we don't need a running back...but damn Lamar Miller is interesting....

Derrick Ward isn't returning, so it just might happen. Quick, agile, one-cut back isn't he? Might be a good change of pace too.

However, I wouldn't stray too far from our needs. I would look for Massie if he falls to us, then Adams from Arkansas, followed up by a tight end in Green.

On the TE front, Hanna will be available later. Green would be a nice pick up, though.

There's a possibility this could turn into a stellar draft.

Seconded kids got jets like the rookie version of Lawrence maroney, reminds a lot of him. I would love this pick with Massey/Sanders and WR Adams/Wylie, jitterbug slot that can double as a returner.

De/dt in the 5th and burfict in the sixth.

I've got a feeling Minniefield will be the 1st 4th rd pick.

I would take M.Jones or Chapman before him though.

Hmmm. Maybe. Maybe we trade a 4th and Jacoby Jones for a bag of chips.

You mean an empty bag of chips .... that someone sh!t in.

Nabbing Crick would make for amazing depth at DE.

If we really are looking to trade JJ, Streeter would be my pick.

I didnt realize Crick was still available .... Depth at DE is lacking , worth a 4th rounder.

Dont sleep on Chase Minnifield CB Virginia.

If they are drafting another WR , I'd prefer Chris Givins from Wake Forest. Was somewhat surprised he's still there for the taking , had a second round grade on him.

I think the Rams take Massie .... but if he slips past them , it would be hard to pass on him.

The last time I heard that last name, I couldn't sleep because his dad, Frank Minniefield would give the Oilers nightmares!

Would be nice to have the kid terrorize the Dolts for a decade .....

Marvin Jones and Nick Toon are the only two receivers I have left.

Chris Givins -

Overview

Givens is an early entry junior out of Wake Forest, where he was a first-team All-ACC selection this past year. He has adequate size and is a blazing straight-line runner who looks similar to Philadelphia's Jeremy Maclin with his movements in-route. He relies heavily on his speed in everything he does. He's capable of taking a speed-out and cutting upfield to daylight. He is a polished player who could be selected late in the first round; he has all the traits of a productive NFL receiver and an immediate No. 2 option.

Analysis

Strengths
Givens is an elite deep-threat receiver who is fluid and quick off the ball. He can eat up a defensive back's cushion in a few steps to get them on their heels and then accelerate in a very controlled, explosive motion. He adjusts well to balls in front or behind him, and he can make all the necessary catches at full speed. Givens has obvious field awareness and routinely would get behind corners in Cover 2 before throttling down for a quick back-shoulder throw before a safety can get there. He can get jammed at the line on occasion but usually beats defenders with a jab step. He has excellent footwork at full speed to change directions or drag his feet along the sideline.

Has the well run dry at Colorado State or did Brisiel's departure sever ties?

Would be fully behind this. Add a K in the 6th and were good.

With the extra 4th I wouldnt be surprised if we lock up the A&M kicker early to avoid someone stepping in and grabbbing him. If we did that and had a solid kicker signed for the next several years I would be fine with it.

I thought we would go BPA, then OL and WR, so we are on course so far. Today I see us taking OL, DEF (LB or DB), and a surprise (K or QB) in the fourth. Then go for another WR then OL or DL depth in 5th and 6th.

Positives: Good initial quickness; explosive, but doesn't generate much power... Great fundamentals and technique, plays with a good base and low center of gravity... Very good first read step in both the running game and passing game... Seems to have a good knowledge of protection schemes and can snap with the quarterback either under center or from the shotgun, has experience in a pro-style offense.

Negatives: Not an overly impressive player by any right, doesn't really stand out or do anything particularly well... Not as big as you would like him to be, shorter than ideal arms and small hands, doesn't have elite size or overall athleticism... Not an incredible run blocker by any stretch of the imagination.

Ben Jones C UGA

Love how NFLN goes to commercial when we are on the clock.

Started 48 games at Center in the SEC. Plays with a nasty treak. He made the line calls and has a lot of experience. He's consistent and tough. Many expect he could start right away for many teams.

Maybe Brooks goes to RT and Jones goes to G (while we have Chris Myers, then Jones becomes our C).

First guy off the boards in round 4 .....

He'll likely be depth behind Myers since Caldwell was the backup C and is slated to move to RG.

Texans about to pick at 121. Wonder what stupidaas deodorant commercial they'll break to.
