Bruce Irvin

What round can he be had in??? Have heard some people saying he will slip significantly after the arrest. Great talent and not a bad guy, especially with our solid locker room.

I've seen Irvin ranked anywhere from #41 to #100. My guess would be that Irvin would have a 90% availability to the Texans 2nd round pick @ #58, a 50% chance at #76, and a 10% shot at #99 (Texans first 4th round pick).

I've mocked him to us in rd 2/3. I fully believe he is the worth the risk. What do you guys think? Is it finally time we take a talented player with a bit of a checkered past?

AND... would you want him there?

Honestly? No. I'd prefer to have Nick Perry or Andre Branch in the 1st or 2nd rounds. I wanted Irvin a month ago but the more I read the less I like him, to many character issues and there are plenty of other capable players.

I think it's quite possible he goes mid to late second, I think he'll be gone before our fourth.

With Irvin's "off field" issues I don't think the Texans would invest a 7th round pick on him. In other words he's off their Board.
Re Perry and Branch, I think either one could very well be the Texans top pick if available at 26 ?

I would consider him a bit of a reach imo

I wasn't speaking about our pick specifically, but I can see that POV...

On the other hand, the guy basically has Von Miller athleticism. Their measureables are very similar. And it's not like he hasn't been productive in college. He has a great motor and a mean streak and attitude on the field.

The biggest thing with Irvin is his character issues. THAT's what would keep us from looking at him and THAT's what would keep him out of the end of the first round.

So San Francisco is the promise team for Bruce Irvin in the first?

Looks like it might not be the reach some think it is, or at least the Texans are not the only team high who might value Irvin

The more I think about the more i wouldn't mind Irvin. I would trade up in the second round to get Fleener, Randle, Glenn, Martin, or even Zietler(sp).

Fleener will never make it past #34 (Colts) so if you want him, you better trade up to #33.

Irvin? Meh. I think he is boom or bust for sure. I would not invest anything higher than a #3. He has serious pass rush potential. He also has potential to be off the roster this time next year.

At first I thought he would be a reach here, but I see a Von Miller minus off the field issues. He can be easily mentored with the class acts in our locker room. I wouldn't mind trading back to the early 2nd round to get him but I'm afraid a team picking after us will get him.

Skenney...

I visit clutchfans too...

:kitten:

LOL...It's all good man...

If it were Madden, hell yeah I'd give a 3rd. In real life? No, I wouldn't want to deal with a guy who has that big of an attitude adjustment coming.

Thank you Seattle, hopefully more teams will reach in the 1st and push quality picks down to 26. Seattle could have had Irvin in the second, thank you Mr. Carroll!!! If I misspell something I blame it on the beer :)

I don't think Irvin would have made it out of the first...

Not sure what your point was...

One comment was before the draft, another after it...

If some team valued him high enough at 15 then I think it's not likely he'd have made it out of the first....

Even if that team would have passed on him they likely would have traded back up had he dropped to 32.

What exactly is your point here?

Wow... So I clearly thought I was being aggressive in mocking Irvin to us as our 2nd, as many had him going 3rd at best. Had NO idea he would be considered so highly in the 1st.

This draft was VERY unpredictable... Had fun watching.

LZ did a mock in which an anonymous NFL coach was choosing for the Texans and had them taking Irvin at 26, plus there was some discussion on the NFLN broadcast regarding the Niners having interest at 30. It could be that the anonymous coach was on the Seahawks staff, or it could be that there was a higher opinion of him in NFL war rooms than in the sports media/draftnik world.

We'll obviously never know, but my guess is that he'd have gone in the first or very early second if Seattle hadn't taken him.

Wow Seattle, can you say REACH. Irvin probably could have been had in the 2nd.

Wolf, you just don't get it. Seattle is drafting Burfict in the second :) Draft sites are going to be ripping Seattle a new one. I just noticed that Seattle moved back from 12 to 15 and picked Irvin, still unbelievable.

The rest of the league needs teams like Seattle, KC, or Miami to continue picking bad players not worth their slot so that the rest of us can continue to have good quality players fall to us. All hail the Seattle's of the league, Thank You.

Could've seen the Texans picking him at 26, as he fits the mold of what you want in an OLB who is going to get rotated in.

Bigger question to me is what is Seattle going to with him? Where does he fit? Could very well be this draft's Aaron Maybin.
