NFL Network debuted a show on Monday night naming the Top 10 Heisman Trophy winners in the NFL. Apparently, the NFL Films-produced project was going after ratings and shock value.

It listed Tim Tebow. Ahead of Earl Campbell.

That’s right, Tim Tebow, now a backup with the New York Jets, ahead of a Hall of Famer. Ahead of two Hall of Famers, actually.

Tebow was listed No. 7 on the list, Campbell No. 8 and Marcus Allen No. 9.

Here’s the full list:

1. Barry Sanders, 2. Roger Staubach, 3. O.J. Simpson, 4. Paul Hornung, 5. Charles Woodson, 6. Tony Dorsett, 7. Tebow, 8. Campbell, 9. Allen, 10. Cam Newton.

Even Sports Illustrated’s Don Banks — on the show — joked about trying to draw in ratings.

“This is totally ratings-driven,” he said. “I get it, I understand what you’re doing. You gotta get a little Tebow time on your Top 10.”

What do you think? A joke, right?

It's gotta be a joke, right?? either that or someone is dipping into the legal Mary Jane and then wrote this...

I agree.

Tebow should be ahead of Barry Sanders as a RB and ahead of Staubach as a QB ..... deserves two spots. :foottap:

They really aren't doing Tebow any favors by airing this kind of stupid crap. It is just gonna make people dislike him even more.

OK, this does it for me.

Up until now, it was cute and fun. I enjoyed watching people go berserk over the Tebow hype. I had a good chuckle and took the Tebow hype in good stride.

This, however? This is it. The proverbial straw that broke GP's back.

Tebow is not better than Campbell. Somebody, somewhere, has written that and forgotten that sometimes facts win out at the end of the day. This is one of those times.

The Internet, if anything, is what's ruining sports. Period. It's douche nozzles like that guy who can type some letters and hit "Submit"...and watch ratings and clicks go through the roof, all the while not even being remotely accurate or fair to the game of football as we know it, that is running the game.

One day, all the old-school journalists will be dead and the Internet Age reporters will be the old guys on TV and on the web...and we'll have a real problem on our hands. I think I'm going to have to start reading a newspaper again, just to level out the Internet craziness going on.

Are they talking about their college career or NFL career post-Heisman? Cause that does matter, kind of...

I took it as post-college. the title is "in the NFL". But either way I don't see how you can compare Tebow to anyone. Denver had to completely change their offense just for him, same at Florida when he was there. I would put Newton ahead of him too. Still not a comparison...

If it's NFL, Tebow should'nt even be on that list.

I would put RGIII on that list, right now, over Tebow.

Today I switched allegiances. I was, before today, merely an innocent bystander in the Tebow hooplah. But this bit of news? THIS changes everything.

You can do lots of things, but if a person has to mess over Earl Campbell in the process of trying to exalt a player of Tim Tebow's, ahem, "talent" then that's where the line in the sand is drawn.

It's Alamo time. Fly your flag of no quarter, you Tebow people, play your tune, but you better keep your powder dry at dawn. You done messed with the wrong clan of folk.

REMEMBER EARL CAMPBELL!!!!!!!!
