There is a long list of possible players we could pick at 26.

I actually wouldn't be unhappy if we drafted any of these guys at 26. But with this many quality players (most of these guys should be available) I really can see us trading down. I would be super happy if we could find a way to get 2 of them. Maybe we should consider trading next years 1st and drafting one of these guys.

TE

Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford:

OLB

Shea McClellin, OLB, Boise State:

Whitney Mercilus, OLB, Illinois:

Nick Perry, OLB, Southern Cal*:

Andre Branch, OLB, Clemson:

Vinny Curry, OLB, Marshall:

DT

Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State*:

Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson:

Kendall Reyes, DT, Connecticut:

OT

Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford*:

OG

Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin:

ILB

Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama:

WR

Rueben Randle, WR, LSU:

Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech:

Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

and a couple of surprise guys ala D Brown. I wouldn't exactly like it but could understand it.

Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California:

Bobby Massie, OT, Mississippi:

Ive got it narrowed down to three players .... In no specific order.

Kevin Zeitler

Dont'a Hightower

Stephen Hill

I think the list is longer than what you've complied:

Amini Silatolu - There is a rumor regarding the Texans interest. I've seen nothing linking the Texans to Zeitler, other than fan mocks.

Peter Konz - Probably much better suited to the Texans ZBS than his Badger teammate.

Brian Quick - It would be a shocker, but there are rumblings in regards to the Texans interest in the small school wideout.

Chandler Jones - Has the size that Wade may want at OLB.

Courtney Upshaw - His lack of elite measurables could lead to a drop on draft day. And the Texans could be there to catch the Crimson Tide star.

As you suggested, it's a looooong list.

Funny I had all these guys on my list except upshaw and quick. Don't know how I missed them. I took all the others off for these reasons.

Silatolu- he flat out dominated, throwing guys down like rag dolls on a regular basis however the competition was weak. He only benched 18 reps at the combine so he will need to work on his strength. Cannot see him starting year one therefore not worthy of 26.

Konze - probably should be on the list but again don't think he has NFL strength yet to start at OG. We already have our starting C.

Chandler Jones - I tried to put him on the list but he just doesn't match up with the other OLB's that should be available. He is super slow off the snap.

Quick and Upshaw should defiantly be there.

I guess I was a little confused as to the criteria of your list. If this is a list of players that you think should pick, then the list should contain whomever you like. If it is a list of player the Texans could take, I think that opens up Silatolu, Jones, and Konz. Jones has very similar measurables to Aldon Smith (whom Wade coveted last year). Konz is among the most athletic, versatile, and intelligent linemen in the draft and certainly projects to the ZBS. And there is a linked rumor to Silatolu and the Texans. Silatolu is also linked to other teams in the bottom third of the 1st round (Lions, Patriots, 49ers).

Stephen Hill. If the Texans are looking at Quick, then they are better served taking Hill. Hill is faster, taller, and came from a big school with a run first offense. Quick can be had in the second, and they could take Shea with their first.

How did I know Fleener would be at the top of Mussops list? Good post though. I'm not really in love with many prospects expected to be there. Im in the trade back camp. Ofcourse it takes two to tango.

The list is in no particular order. I have tried to explain a 100 times Fleener isn't my number 1 option. If I had my choice it would be Worthy. I would be happy if it was Fleener because he is the best player available at a need position.

Lucky you were right the first time. The list is possible draftees. I just don't see Solitolu an OG who isn't very strong or ready to start, Konz who is really to small to play OG and Jones who is super slow and looks stiff as hell as real possibilities in the first.

Silatolu did 28 reps on the bench press at the combine. Not a number that's a head turner, but not a number that causes you to be concerned about his strength.

If the Texans stay @ 26, there's a very good chance their pick comes from those players and an even better chance he comes from one of those 2 position groups IMO.
Biggest problem for the Texans is that most of that OLB group is off the Board at 26. I hope we don't get locked into 26 and end up having to "overpay" for our choice, in which case we fans might get a real surprise if the Texans
have to modify strategy at the last minute and fall-back on a selection based upon BPA ?

Peter Konz had 18 bench reps at the combine. Konz bumped the bench reps to 23 at his pro day.

Way before the combine I had been saying that konz looked weak on film. He was super aggressive, but he still looked weak.

Maybe an NFL conditioning program can help him out, but I think he may struggle early on in his career.
