Quick draft question. Help me out please

I peek at the ViTech games when I get a chance and like what I see from Marcus Vick. He doesn't have the leg twitch that Mike has ready to run so quickly after the snap. I see looks to be very accurate and yes I know he can get that first down and even touchdowns with his legs. Right now he seems to be a bit more solid than Mike and I feel he would do good in the NFL, but a recent discussion with a friend brought out the opinion that he wouldn't be a QB in the NFL. I think different, and say that he would either start based on what you see from him now in college along with his name; or would be at least a #2 backup QB on... whatever team. The person I spoke to said he wouldn't even play the position because he's "not tall enough" and would be moved to a different position. I responded by pointing out the fluties and lillt boy Eli's of the league. What do you think or which side of the discussion do you agree with?

Michael: 6'

He and Mike are the same heigth. Marcus has a better feel for the passing game than Michael does, right now. What other position would Marcus play?

RB - Too little

WR - If he's too short for QB, than he sure as hell is too short for WR

The only problem I see with Vick is maturity issues. He got in trouble a Tech last year for some stupid stuff that never should have happened. He says that he's changed and is more disciplined. I can't see him going before the third round.

People say a lot of stupid stuff about the draft including calling anyone under 6' 3" too short to be a QB. Guys like Brett Favre, Drew Brees, Mark Brunell, Donovan McNabb, Jake Delhomme, Jake Plummer, Steve McNair, Kurt Warner and Michael Vick just keep laughing and collecting pay checks. The question is whether they can play, not whether they are 1 or 2 inches shorter than ideal.

I'd like to see a better display of leadership, character, etc. from Marcus before I say he can be an NFL QB. Being a great athlete isn't enough.

Hey, I never said they aren't successful. I understand that some WRs are below 6'. But, considering that most QB's turned WR are generally tall (maybe one reason why Mike Vick didn't convert) Marcus would not become a WR. That was my thought...

Matt Jones was the exception to the rule, not part of the precedent.

I've seen Marcus play QB and predict, unless he drastically improves his accuracy he will never be more than a "slash" novelty. I hold a simular opinion of Vincent Young. He stands six five, but throws the ball like he's six foot. The ball never goes above his ear lobe. Of the two VY has a chance because even with his awkard motion, he is acurate with his throw, Marcus is not. And in IMHO, never will be. 50% passing just won't cut it in the NFL. Carr is where and we got fans calling for his scalp ? Eventually, the D's of the league will catch up with the waggles and roll outs. It's just a matter of time. Micheal Vick's already banged up pretty bad now. Would not surprise me at all if Micheal is out of the league in a few seasons. Someone will take a shot with Marcus. I Love Chase Daniels {South Lake Carrol}of Mo.. But I don't expect him to be a starter in the NFL. Next game against Texas should be a hoot though.

Bob Griese made some intersting comments about Young. He said that College ball is no longer challenging to Young and is nearly impossible to stop at this level and he thinks he will be an outstanding pro QB.

Marcus Vick and Vince Young will both be way above average QB in the NFL.
IMO they could be great WR. Escpecialy Young.

Marcus is much more accurate than Vince Young. Just like Vince he seems to get better with each game. Last night he showed both patience in the pocket and the ability to beat you with the run. He was 22 of 28 with a few drops and throw aways. Both him and Vince should not be even thinking about the draft this year. 1 more season in college for both of them and they are going to be much better.

I agree both should stay in school for a few reasons. First if they do stay in school their chances of winning a title increas dramaticly. Texas and VT should be 1 and 2 in the standings next season. Either Young or Vick will probably win the Heisman. Second they will both be picked alot higher in the draft if they wait until next year Leinart, Bush and D'brick will all be out of their way.

That would have the potential for an awesome game too. Vick v. Young for the national championship and probably #1 pick. I have a feeling both will stay too. Marcus has only had 8 games of starting experience in college. Playing only one season is not nearly enough. I don't care if his last name is Vick. I also think that Michael will tell him to stay to get better prepared for the NFL. Vince will probably stay too because Texas guys usually stay all four years.

Right now I'm rooting for the max number of undefeated teams (4) going into bowl season. That situation could be the straw that broke the camel's back with the BCS.
