Male Tries out for Texans cheerleader sqaud

Can't think of many opportunities to be surrounded by so many good looking women in scant clothing at one time.

I get the vibe that he's less interested in being surrounded by so many good looking women in scant clothing than he really does want to be a cheerleader.

Good for him. He should be applauded for trying to live his dream. If he makes it, I pray that they alter his uniform to cover more up than the ladies currently cover.
 
Cheerleading runs strong in my family. I have a cousin who used to be a Carolina Panther cheerleader and my niece currently cheers at SHSU. I have always wondered why there weren't any male cheerleaders in the NFL. The males really enable the women to create difficult stunts. The cheerleaders are very lame IMO. I hope the kid has skills and he does make it.

Let's just say I will not argue with your assessment.
 
Women can't play at Augusta and men can't dance in shorty shorts for public consumption.

Are you friggin kidding me???

If this guy makes the squad, we will be the laughing stock of the NFL (at least in my circle of friends as Im one of only two Texan fans in a crowd of Cowboys). I would much rather him go try out for the cowboys and make that squad so he can "live his dream".

Sorry if this sounds crude but Im saying what most people are thinking. Im not a homophobe (not even sure if he's gay or not) but male cheer leaders need to pack up the pom poms at the collegiate level.

My niece is in there somewhere. I think she's the second girl that walks onto the mat but not sure. All the makeup they wear just butchers their beauty... Anyway, note the males. They are behind everybody and are a support system that really launch these girls into the sky. I LOVE that. Also note their attire... They're fully clothed, pants and all. I love the male cheerleaders at the college level. They really make their cheerleaders pop with the stunts. Thinking that cheerleaders are just props is ridiculous. That's a heck of a demanding sport to be involved in and the NFL turned that into a mockery.

Why would you ask me if I was an Aggie? I don't get it.

Im cool with them at the collegiate level because they are actually cheerleaders. They do flips, cart wheels, jumps (as you can see I know nothing of the terms) and other things that require the strength of men.

At the NFL level however the cheerleaders are just nice views for the fans. I know that the women who are the cheerleaders would disagree as they have probably cheered their entire lives at each level and its always been considered as a sport to some degree but at the NFL level, its definately second fiddle to the game.

The fact of the matter is the game is the real show. The money paid to the cheerleaders is evidence enough that the owners want it that way.

Regarding the whole aggie comment; we give them hell because they have "yell leaders" and its considered a big deal to be a male cheer leader in College Station.

BTW: My granddaughter has two males in her drill team class at LPHS. I went to their Spring show, and I can guarantee you those two guys were better than most of the girls.

All I know, there's a bunch of attractive women in tight fitting clothes jiggling and shaking around. Its hard to take into account their community service contributions when they are out there taking advantage of the fact that they were physically blessed in all the right places.
 
I cannot envision Joe Texan in a cheerleader uniform. But if him out there on the field puts more butts in seats, then I'm all for it.

People might actually start being in their seats before kickoff.

Lust really has nothing to do with respect one way or another. One can question any man's moral values over this (just like they could the girls wearing cheerleader outfits, bikinis on the beach, whatever), but it has nothing to do with whether they respect women. In fact, it's just about as natural is anything can get. One can take the high road, and even go so far as to overdo it (by at least some's standards) and judge the girls for being cheerleaders; but, regardless, if a man takes the stance of not wanting to see that, he is either gay (and I won't even get into all of that) or he is fighting natural impulses really hard. I don't think God himself would deny that it is natural for a man to want to see that. Right? Healthy? Well, to copy a phrase: eyes of the beholder...

Now, whether a married man focusing too much on cheerleaders is disrespecting his wife might be a different matter. I'm not married anyway, and I'm not going there.

I think we all know why a man would want to be a cheerleader, and it either involves getting a scholarship of some kind to A&M, or touching hot girls panties while they're in them.
 
Let's not kid ourselves about why all of these girls are professional cheerleaders, either, because it's a SERIOUS ego boost. Most of those girls wouldn't speak to most people if they weren't getting to do it in front of cameras. This thing about all their charity work is just really part of what they have to do to keep getting on camera showing it off at professional football games for all their ex-high school peers to see.

I would think there are some who do that, and then there's some who (a) love football, probably grew up in a family who loved to watch football, and (b) figure this is a great way to make a few extra bucks and to be a part of a big organization on national TV.

It helps them down the road when they apply for a higher paying job and can list "Texans Cheerleader." That'll make you stand out in the pile of applications sitting on a desk in the HR department.

I don't think they all have the ego problems.

The 2012 Baltimore Ravens cheerleader squad has 40 females and 20 men. I don't do links. If you don't believe me go look it up yourself. :winky:

I knew there was one NFL team that had male cheerleaders and thought it was the Ravens. I remember seeing them at our playoff game there in January. Their entire squad is more like a real cheerleading squad, not a dance team. They were fun to watch.

I'm not making any further comments about you guys lusting over women in skimpy unis. I think you all are closet perverts!!:runaway:

Liking the opposite sex makes you a pervert? Heck back in 2002 my wife started a game of picking out which cheerleader was cutest in each squad.

I will say since we sit front row in front of one of the cheerleader squads it is annoying to have guys come down waiting for the girls to bend over or kick to get a picture as if they had never seen a girl before. Came very close to a fight when one guy did it during a critical 4th quarter 3rd down play.

And yes, there is a difference between most NFL cheerleader squads being mostly dancers and for show, and college cheerleader squads who do more of what we might call actual cheerleading that involve much more training and practice.

I think cheerleaders are at the games as eye candy to help placate fans during the rather long television timeouts. They are a gimmick, like Toro and the racing cars on the big screen.

I do not think they were all that effective at leading cheers during the Bengals playoff game. 70,000 rabid Texans fans did not need any 'leaders' to make that place loud and rowdy.

Some of us do not need all the whistles and bells at a FOOTBALL game, but I do not mind it. I go to the games to see FOOTBALL, and none of this extra flair has any impact on my decision to buy tickets. The Texans could strip it down to minimum like the Packers and I would still be there for one thing: FOOTBALL.

BTW, I have great respect for women, but I can appreciate the sight of a beautiful woman, as well. After all, they do dress in skimpy outfits to be looked at, and people are kidding themselves to think otherwise.

If the Texans want to add males to the squad like the Ravens, I could care less. Maybe they would get into some more traditional cheer-leading routines with the acrobatics and stuff. It's all good.
