Who Is Going to Drop This Year?

Nawzer

Every year there seems to be a player who's talked about being a high pick, but falls for whatever reasons. Who do you all think that player(s) might be this year? I think it'll be Trent Richardson of Alabama. No doubt he's a great back, but running back is one of those positions where you can find better value in the later rounds. Most people are guessing that he goes to Cleveland, but I don't see it happening really. He could be a big play guy for their offense (they need it), but like I mentioned I think they can pick up someone in the later rounds. I think what the Browns do with their pick will have a big impact on the rest of the first round.

Richardson would not go past the Jets I don't think.

I don't think Richardson gets past the Bucs, he's a top 10 talent for sure. I think the faller this year will be Kendall Wright. A lot of people have him pegged as a top 15-20 prospect, but I just get the impression that he's going to fall out of the 1st round in favor of bigger WRs like Hill, Floyd and Randel.

This could still happen but it's less likely since he did well at his Pro-Day. My choice is Coples. All the talent in the world but there are questions about his motor and his play during his senior year.

I think Kendall wright could fall out of the first round. I can see teams picking Jeffrey and hill over him.

I think Kirkpatrick could fall too.

To me it seems like the guys who typically fall are the guys who were solid college players but don't have necessarily elite athletic ability, or don't fit the prototypical mold for their position. An example would be Kendall Wright, who is a smaller WR in a draft where all the other guys are bigger.

This isn't always the case but that appears to be the pattern to me.

Guys like Poe and Stephen Hill are almost always the guys who rise dramatically and get taken really high. Tremendous athlete who is a huge risk but with the potential for a huge payoff.

Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College
more of a wrap up tackler. Doesn't make enough plays at or behind line of scrimage.

Michael Brockers DT LSU
Most over rated guy in draft.

Melvin Ingram DE South Carolina
Just get the feeling he wont be as good in pros as projected

Devon Still DT Penn State
Can't believe there is still talk of this guy in the first round.

Courtney Upshaw LB Alabama
Not explosive enough to go top 20 like most think.

Peter Konz C Wisconsin
Position and lack of strength will make him fall.

RISERS guys who I think could go first round

Brandon Thompson DT Clemson

Kevin Zeitler OG Wisconsin

Shea McClellin LB Boise State

Kelechi Osemele G/T Iowa State

Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State

I agree with Dutchrudder and Rey, Kendall Wright is my pick to fall to the 2nd round. His size and very small hands willl drop him.

I think Richardson. No way I ever take a RB in top ten, if at all in the first round. Just not as good of a value. Guys like Poe, Tannehill, Hill, ect will also be reached on.

I also dont care for T Rich that much. RB class is weak and Richardson is the best of the misfits.

I disagree. Richardson is better than Ingram, in my opinion.

RB isn't one of the most valued positions anymore but Richardson is far from just being the tallest midget.

Depends on system...maybe..but if it were Texans starting new roster I'd take Ingram over Richardson hands down.

So here are the potential draft shockers....

Hightower over Kuechley,
McClellin over Ingram,
Irvin over C. Upshaw

I kind of agree.

Although I think Richardson is going to have a good, long (by rb standard) career. Especially if he's paired with another good back.

I think he relies too much on physical ability rather than a feel for the game though. That's not going to work much in the NFL.

Let me rephrase my Luke Kuechly comment. He may not fall in the draft but he won't be as good a pro as people think.

I agree with on the first 5 players but disagree on Konz, I think he still goes in the 1st round. I also agree with you on the first 3 players from your second list, but disagree with you on Osemele and Cousins. They'll probably go in the 2nd round.

I agree with you on the comment about Kuechly, he's not going to be the pro everyone is making him out to be, way over hyped.

Drop:
Kendall Wright - Not an outside WR, size speed limitations
Janoris Jenkins - Love affair with Mary Jane
Mike Adams - Mary Jane gets around

Rise:
Josh Robinson - He will sneak into the late 1st round
Brian Quick - Looks the part and a NFL team will think they can coach him up
Trumaine Johnson - Big CBs are in, and some may like him at FS

From watching his film I just don't see him being a good enough tackler to make a huge impact in the NFL. I know he racked up a ton of them in college but most of them were arm tackles. He isn't going to be able to do that in the pros.

I keep reading from draft pundits online that the Justin Blackmon hype is all media driven and he's no where near an elite prospect. I've seen a couple people claim there's no way he goes in the top 10.
