Buchanon on FSSW

I was just watching FSSW and Buchanon was on basically saying that this system stifles his abilities to make plays. OMG, cut him now. He says we don't don't take chances on plays on defense and that we play too conservative, can't worry about giving up big plays, says he's the scapegoat.

He's just speaking the truth. It's no mystery that the coaches lost their players a long time ago. If more players start calling out this pathetic coaching staff maybe we'll see some changes.

What show were watching? I'd like to catch the replay.

while i dont particuarlly like p-burnt, he is right. he is a man cover corner who is very agressive and geared towards making the big play. outside of that though he is a medicoere zone man and average tackler.

Another example of the inability of this coaching staff to adapt to the players they have and their skills. This staff wants to play how they think football should ideally be played. The fact that the players don't match their desires is of no concern nor does it matter. You have seen the end result. I keep saying the same think over and over again, its only the coaching staff that is a problem with this team. The owner is paralized, the GM is caught in a delima, and the Fans and Players are crying. Its really a sad thing to behold.

Why cut him? He speaks the truth. We hardly ever take chances on either side of the ball, and our defense is too conservative. Our pass defense has looked horrible because it seems we are playing with the bend don't break mentality. Teams own us between the 20's. Our DB's are usually 5-8 yards of the line of scrimmage. I wanna see the DB's up on the line and some blitzes.

i cant believe anyone that isnt directly related to p-burnt is defending him. did yall not see the bills game? he was in man coverage and a rookie qb, who's since been benched, threw at him play after play after play. he's just not any good, nomatter the system.

so by your basis he should be released or killed outright for having a bad game. since his benching(which he deserved) he has seemed to be one of the most sure tacklers on the field. he has made several open field tackles since then.

Not 1 bad game but every game he has played in has been bad. So what if he has made a few open field tackles, it's the NFL they're suppose to do that. Buchanon is this year's Matt Stevens, but atleast Stevens didn't cost us what Buchanon has.

i missed the first quarter of this game, but unless he went ray lewis for the 15 minutes that i missed ... i'm not sure what you're talking about. "sure tacklers" dont close their eyes and jump at the ball carrier with that fetal position dive he does. as for "a bad game" ... he's been a bust at CB since he got drafted. i hated deon because he's a wuss, but apparently he could cover his man. p-burnt's a wuss and cant cover.

as to today's stats ... we spent the entire game in a nickel defense, of course the inside cb's are going to get tackles. however, how about you find the stats for missed tackles so that both sides of the story are told.

sorry if i seem overly critical, but i'm not one to celebrate mediocrity. i'm on the front line of our campaign of "we have the worst coaching in football", but he was bad before he got here ... we didnt ruin him.

PBuc was the team's 2nd leading tackler today... seriously.

Maybe but on one play in particular in the first half I saw him do a pathetic job of trying to cover his man. The announcers even mentioned it so I'm sure most everyone in here saw the play I'm talking about.

I think that he might make some big plays in man to man but he's still not going to be even a shadow of what we have on the other side with Robinson.

I'd cut his butt the day the season ended if it were up to me. Yes we'd get nothing in return but you can easily argue that we already lost those draft picks and for all practical purposes we got nothing in return then too.

The number of tackles a corner has doesnt mean he's good. A good corner doesnt make many tackles because he covers his man too good to let him get the ball.

Buchanan gets more tackles than Dunta because people can throw to Buchanan's man and get completions. That doesnt make Buchanan a good tackler, corners arent supposed to be the team leader in tackles, that's a bad sign, letting people get to your secondary a lot.

i will go back and look at it again on tape, but in person I saw alot of Petey and P Buc wide and Dunta covering the slot. Not P Buch

This whole defense, except for Robinson and Polk needs to be cut. Staff and all.

scratch that. polk overran a play near the goaline by a mile allowing a td today. he was also poor in coverage.

robinson alone.

you have to understand i dont like p-burnt very much, but he is not in a system to play to his abilities. we cant keep playing off the ball. that is why our db's are our leading tacklers. i know that he blew his coverage a time or two, but i think he did a fair job today.

Are you serious. I could sware in the 3rd quarter Manning dedicated a whole drive to PBuch! Check when Wayne went and grabbed 4 catches for 39 yards.

i did see that drive, but did you see how far off the ball he is having to play in this system? when was the last time you saw a CB jam the reciever at the line? any respectable wr in the league could run slants and crossing routs without having to come near a defender seven yards back.

i just want to say to make myself understood: i do not like p-burnt, and i think he has not lived up to the hype thus far in his career, but i feel wholeheartedly that he is better than fagains who i see get beat constantly everywhere including deep.

Buchanan was the second leading tackler because he gave up alot of pass plays. Every game this season the opposing teams have gone right at him. Its the reason we rarely hear Dunte's name this year. Most plays last week he was completely out of position either giving too much cushion or losing his man. It's been the story the whole season and he will need to be replaced if this defense is going to get better.

It shows that our staff has NO adaptability to players on there team. I have slightly more respect for P-Buc now that he is speaking truthfully. Our system makes Dunta look horrible so im ready to give Buc another chance. At least he tries to tackle now and slows down people enough for real hitters to get there.:texflag:

Gee, Buchanon just can't seem to find the right system for him to play can he. The guy is a bust. He has the mouth of TO but doesn't have the game. He was good in college playing against lesser talent but against pro receivers and QBs he's toast. When we took him we knew he had trouble in man coverage because he doesn't back pedal enough and is easily turned the wrong way because he turns his back to the line too soon. He doesn't have good hip movement to be able to cover more closely in man coverage either. In college, he was able to use his speed to make up for the inadequacies but at the pro level his speed is not great enough to make up for how out of position he often is. His tackling abilities are less than Deion Sanders' but Neon Deion could shut down a receiver. Anyone see P Buch get turned completely around against the Bills on that corner pattern in the 1st game? That's the norm with him not the exception. With the lack of hitting ability, he doesn't bring as much to a zone coverage because the DB often has to come up and hit the receiver hard to jar the ball loose. His best chance is if he can watch the QBs eyes and get a bad throw his way where he can use his speed to jump in the way and pick it. He's at best a nickel corner and in my book he'd be better suited to play offense. In any regard, he has absolutely no grounds to say anything about the system not being suited to his game. His game is Div 1A.
