Defensive Line Pass Rusher

this is killing us almost as much as Carr's offensive line unit, the Texans run defense is brutel and is anyone happy with last years #1 pick Travis Johnsons performance thus far? while I'm not advocating using our 1st pick again, if ever, on a tackle the Texans still need to address this weakness as well. assuming they take a OT with the 1st pick what about a guy like Tennessee DT Jesse Mahelona with the 2nd rd pick? if we stick with the 3-4 Jesse is more of a true inside tackle, more so than Travis and is a relentless pass rusher as well as wrap up tackler in run support.

the Texans are getting pushed around on both sides of the ball in the trenches, while I'm not sold at all on the coaching, I feel we sorely lack the talent to compete because we can't control the line of scrimmages. hopefully TJ will come around, but what about Walker & Payne? We need at least one more tackle to develop for the future now plus we need a pass rushing stud on the inside who can actually sack the QB. I've been looking all season at the College level to find the best player suited for the Texans, don't want to be caught with my pants down like last year, so if this guy is there in the 2nd round do you take him? or does someone think there is a better tackle somewhere who would be avialable at this point?

when a new coach gets here and decides to change to a 4-3 chances are he'll want that pass rushing beast de. but we have LOTS to address and one offseason isnt going to get it done...players like babin and or peek will get a shot at the spot for 1 year before the coach determines how necessary it is in the 07 offseason.

ol will be priority 1.

te and 4-3 lb unit will be next.

Jesse plays in the 4-3 right now on the inside for the Vols its not a bad idea at all to consider him on the edge in a 3-4 or a 4-3. the 3-4 he would be consider'ed under-sized in the 4-3 over-sized, actually upon reflection if the Texans did switch to the 4-3 I think he will be a dominant pass rushing end in NFL
