Texans scout at TCU pro day.

I saw a Texans scout at the TCU pro day today. Along with some others from various teams. All seemed particularly interested in CB Greg McCoy, TE Logan Brock, and DE/OLB Braylon Broughton.

McCoy really showed off his speed in the 40 yard dash, running a 4.31 unofficial. Looked every part of it though. More surprisingly Broughton ran a 4.5 flat, TCU's website has him listed as 6' 6" and nearly 270 but I think he is more in the 6' 4" 255 range. Regardless though, still pretty impressive. I would expect teams to look in the 5th to 7th round for both of these players, McCoy as a specialist and Broughton as a project 4-3 end or 3-4 outside linebacker. He is plenty strong enough, with 26 bench press reps.

On the offensive side of the ball Logan Brock was okay. Running a 4.7 forty, and grabbing a 34 inch vertical. Perhaps the most impressive vertical was WR Johnathan Jones, who jumped 43 inches!

I would have expected the Texans to be checking out Tank Carder as possible depth at ILB, but I guess they have to do their due dilligence and scout everyone possible.

Tank decided not to participated in the drills, because he was in the combine. Only thing he did was his height and weight, which is 6' 2" and 230 pounds.

I think he will mainly be a special teams guy for the first couple of years while he is a backup in the 4-3 will linebacker spot.

I was looking at Carder as 3-4 ILB depth behind Ryans that we could probably get in the 5th round. Also he's got the height to carry a little more weight to make him a better fit at the position.

Isn't Carder the guy who broke his spine in high school? You can be all that you can be but major spinal injuries probably aren't the ticket.

I think he got in a bad accident in middle school. Broke his back in a couple of places and fractured all of his "true" ribs on one side of his body in the process along with puncturing his lung and diaphragm. He played only two years of football in high school, because he wasn't allowed to do a contact sport until his junior season. Since then he really hasn't shown any lingering effects of the injury, or any new major ones.
