Questions about coaching changes

If McNair does indeed cut ties with Capers after the season, when does that type of thing usually happen? Could we expect Capers to be out the door the day after our final game, or could he be with the team until after the super bowl or into next summer even?

Also, do the coordinators usually follow the head coach out the door or would we be likely to see Fangio return as our DC?

And my final question is when do teams normally try to sign new coaches by, I assume we'd try and get the new staff in place before the draft so we had a better idea of where the franchise was going?

If I remember correctly, after our final game, the notification would be given. Then, before postseason playoffs/superbowl/probowl is over, we would have someone else lined up. I remember hearing talks about Saban and Nolan, as well as Crennel, before the playoffs were over

And yes, generally when HCs leave, so does their staff. New HCs want the ability to create their own staff.

The thought of this guy remaining is almost as scary as Capers staying around. This guy was run out from the Colts. He has created one of the worse defenses in the whole league. Please fire him now and let's see what Hoke can do until the end of the year.

I would expect Capers to be gone before the end of the season. Hopefully within 3 weeks. At that point the season is a total loss. Then they could possibly get Kubiak before the season ended and get his staff mostly in place. If they wait till the end of the season or close to that, they won't be able to talk to Kubiak until after the playoffs, since we're sure the Colts are going to be in the playoffs and they likely will not let the Texans talk to him until afterwards. Not sure about Fangio, but for sure his defenseive scheme is not working here any better than Capers overall scheme.

So you're saying we could talk to and possibly get a hiring of Kubiak in the works before the playoffs? That would be interesting.

I could be wrong, but I think there's some sort of tampering rule in place that would prohibit us from talking to any currently-employed coaches within the NFL.

As for firing the coaching staff, I am all for it. But really, firing them in mid-stream won't accomplish much. The players won't have the chance to start learning a new system; they'll just be in limbo. Furthermore, if we treat our current coaching staff that way, what does that say to any potential coach? If we fire Capers at season's end, it sends a message that losing is not tolerated here in Houston. If we fire in mid-season with no viable alternative, it comes across as a petulant move designed to accomplish nothing more than disparaging our current coach and potentially assuaging a few fans.
