On March 13, Redskins safety LaRon Landry will become a free agent, unless the Redskins apply the franchise tag. And if the Redskins apply the franchise tag, I sure wouldn’t want to be the one to tell him.

Landry, who always has been large, has grown to almost comical proportions, based on photos posted on his Twitter page and found by Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post.

Injuries limited Landry to eight games in 2011 and nine in 2010, and it’s unclear whether the Redskins or anyone else will be ready to give him a long-term, big-money deal.

Again, if he’s not going to get paid a lot of money, I sure wouldn’t want to be the one to tell him.

haha now i get cody's tweets from last nite

Uh ooooh texans possibly drafting a Nose Guard with 1st pick. Better hit the gym #LaronLandrysGym #BullOnParade?

Yeah but I bet Mr. 1st rd draft pick NT couldn't host moderately successful, sometimes humorous, team website webseries #goodluckbigguy

yup, it ain't bulging muscles that make Ed Reed a great safety. It's skill, which muscles won't really bring out.

Landry has been one of the better safeties over the last couple of years in the NFL and he's always been huge. Muscleprodigy.com had him ranked as the #5 "Most Jacked NFL Player" last year. I think what's going to fade him out is his injuries due to him having a Bob Sanders like style of play

He can't stay healthy and on the field.

You're the first person I thought of when I saw the pic. ;)

love the way this dude plays..... he likes to knock the snot out of guys. Combine that with the fact that the redskins don't have any other real playmakers on defense other than London Fletcher & you can see why he's always hurt...If you put more capable guys around him to where he wont be able to make all the plays, i think he'd be ok.

Our game against them 2 years ago He was literally the only guy making plays.... all over the field; schaub nearly got his head taken off by him on that last TD heave to AJ that sent the game into OT.

I think it's fake. The arm isn't proportionate to the rest of the body

That doesn't mean jack bro. There's a dude at my gym, a pretty young guy, and he's not very symmetrical at all. He's in the mid-height range, but is arms are the biggest thing on his body. I've actually mentioned it to him. I told him he looked like an orangutan....lol. :shades: He said he competes in body building shows and I believe him because of his build, but he has got to even things out a little more.

Here he is...

I see a striking difference between Boston and Landry. LaRon Landry looks by far healthier than David Boston ever did. It seemed like Boston's skin was stretched so thin as opposed to Landry looking like he has room to grow. The guy wears it well. I don't think he's juicing... not that it would matter to me, I would approve of steroid abu--... *ahem*... steroid use.

Test him for hCG.

Diet+exercise=that. I look ridiculous when I diet down for a fight or tournament, 267 and 4% bodyfat last cut, and I looked like the incredible hulk... and I've never even so much as touched a testosterone booster much less steroids/HGH.

He's got nothing to do besides train, it's not outlandish. Plus Laron Landry is a complete stud albeit the torn achilles injury.

4% BF?!? Dang bro....I read that anything under 12% is extremely hard to maintain. How long were you able to keep that up? Isn't it dangerous to stay that low anyway?

Landry is a gifted athlete but this is pushing it. There are limits to diet and exercise, it only goes so far and he's always looked topped out. And now he's this much bigger? And plays in the NFL......smells like roids, I bet his random testing is on the way righ tnow.....

Why does Laron Landry do that to himself? He doesn't even look as athletic as he used to be. Somebody mentioned David Boston earlier and they're exactly right. He was a great talent that turned into a muscle-obsessed freak. He may be found lifting weights at muscle beach right now. Flexing for the ladies.

4%? That's pretty hard to believe. I why would you need to be that lean for fighting, I thought it was all about conditioning and you do need some stored fat for energy. I always associated that low of a percentage is for body building purposes only.

Probably has to do with making a certain weight. I doubt he stays in that state for an extended period of time, maybe a couple of days at most.

Yeah, maybe so cause that's crazy, the top bodybuilders are around 4.5% or so. And it's not safe/healthy to be any lower.

Lean mass isn't hard to maintain if you're dedicated. I love/brew beer, so usually I go up to high teens after a fight :D Honestly you can't see the define of a 6 pack til under about 10% bodyfat. Lift 5-6 times a week and about 20-24 hours of cardio/sparring/grappling a week you can easily stay super lean.

Hell I came back from my last desert deployment around 3.5% as I was running about 50 miles a week. 30" waist and 19" arms, that was tough to maintain when I was back home though (who doesn't love beer?).

Indeed. I'm a fairly fat 280ish right now (probably 18-20%).

If he'd spend as much time in the film room as he does in the weight room maybe he'd be a better safety.

He's a liability in coverage as it is; I don't see why he feels the need to continue to bulk up. If anything he should be slimming down in order to improve his durability and reaction time.

That's crazy to even think about.

Sigh, I need to get back into shape......

I'm with ya brother. Ever since snagging this operator job my gym time dwindles a little more every month. It's a shame going from 6 days a week down to about 2-3 if I'm lucky. I'll just live vicariously through LaRon Landry
