Vince vs. Matt

Well i have some stats for all you VY haters out there, and not just rushing stats, passing stats as well. While we all know that Matt Leinart has more targets and athletes on his team but suprisingly VY has a little bit better stats. While Matt Leinart is leading in yards, he and Vince are tied in TD's, picks, and VY has a higher completion % and passer rating. This is for all the folks that said he couldnt throw and would be better off at WR.

M.Leinart- 1,947 yards,12 TDs, 5 Ints, 63.1 Completion %, 105.3 PR

V. Young- 1357 yards, 12 TDs, 5 Ints, 67.4 Completion %, 113.3PR

Leinart Stats
Young Stats

The numbers don't tell the whole story. Young has horrible mechanics and does not throw bullet passes. NFL quarterbacks can't get away with throwing soft lobs all the time. Young has improved, but he is no NFL quarterback yet.

Are you talking about the Heisman or our first pick? I think Bush will win the Heisman and We should pick him up. He doesn't Need an Offensive line. He will be explosive, and with a runner like that Carr should have less eyes focus on him. :yahoo:

I don't think Leinart is that accurate...he doesn't impress me that much...Young on the other hand is going to be a superstar in the NFL. He has a great feel for a rush and can make all the throws at ridiculous angles.

I dont want to draft him, I was just letting people know. Plus tell me when you've seen Bush make a play with no O-line help, he'll be murdered if we play him behind this o-line.

Dont know what games you've seen, but the ones ive watched VY has made all the throws putting zip on the ball when he needs to and also using great touch.

He is the one skill guy I'd consider...I don't think I'd pass on him if he was there. Carr can back him up in a couple of years while he learns the system.

More importantly, VY has the ability to take a team on his back and win a game when he needs to. He's a proven leader, possibly the best in the country.

The problem with drafting a QB Young or Lienert would be they both have extremly good lines in college game. Behind Texans line Young would be better because he can run alot, but why put Monster engines in a Pinto. I think we need a little body work first. This year we need to WIN in free agency and the Draft or become the Browns of years past. :goodnight

Vince Young is so unsound mechanically that I'm almost sure he won't be a good NFL player. You can't run around all day in the NFL with that loopy release and expect to succed.

Tell that to Bernie Kosar.

They both have miserable looking mechanics...but both get the ball where it needs to go. Kosar led the Browns to some of their finest hours/heartbreaks....I saw them here as my Oilers battled them.

Vince has to...but so does everyone else that gets drafted. I've seen enough to think he will be pretty special.

If he did that here..........wow...we might win some games :texflag:

I say FIX the o-line first. Give carr a chance with a o-line. If he stills stinks in a year or two pick up VY in the draft.

clearly u have not been watchin the same Texas games that i have been watchin. and clearly u have not studied QB's in the NFL to know what it takes to take your team to the top. exactly what else does Vince have to PROVE to show that he is worth being in the league? he def. would deal betta than sucky Carr

To be a quarterback in the NFL you have to be an excellent passer. Michael Vick can get away with being a mediocre passer because he runs a 4.25 40. Vince Young does not run a 4.25 40. Even the bad QB's in the league were very good passers in college. Vince Young is an unbelievable talent who no doubt will be a great player in the NFL eventually, but he has a lot of little things that he needs to work on in his passing game or he is going to be awful. He is having a great year this year, but his style right now will not translate to NFL success. If he comes out this year I think it will be a big mistake, but if he plays one more year at Texas and improves his game next season as much as he did this season, I think he will most likely be the number 1 pick. I think he will stay too because the Texas players tend to stay all four years. He has been really impressive though because this time last year every time the ball left his hand you were convinced it would probably be either incomplete or intercepted.

Leinarts pass to Jarret at the end on the fourth down may have been one of the best placed passes I have ever seen. He placed it perfectly above his sholder.

No offense, but pointing to one accurate pass out of 1000 in a college career doesn't really prove anything. Carr is known as an accurate QB but IMO he often overthrows his deep balls. Yeah, he will throw some perfect, but many are off, and when they are off generally overthrown, and he doesn't have enough air under them to let the WR's adjust, which would make him and the WR look better.

I'm just saying that I don't get to watch USC often but when I do I see the passing game making plays. I should do some more "studying" now.

Watch the NFL and college this weekend and look for this distinction. In college, the QB's will often put up a huge rainbow and trust the WR to make the play. QB and WR working together all looks good. Put that same play in the NFL and Dunta Robinson comes in and slaps the ball away or makes the INT because he is just as athletic as the WR. Flip side, Carr has to put a little more arc in the ball sometimes to let the WR make the play. Total fine line deal, but there needs to be enough to give a bit of reaction time to the WR who already knows where things are going, but not so much that the DB who doesn't can figure it out.

I think Vince young is a better player and whoever said he cant make it in the NFL is wrong because he passes better then Michael Vick and Vicks in the NFL and probablys the most popular player in the league
