Does anyone remember the reason Wade was let go in Buffalo?

Was it the Johnson/Flutie thing?
 
They had a down year 8-8 (after two playoff years but no wins) for a team which had gone to the playoffs 8 of 9 years and the SB 4 times under the last HC. He was somewhat vindicated when they went 3-13 and have only hit 9-7 once since.

For Texan fan perspective that would be a team which was in the playoffs 10 of 12 years under two coaches and since has 1 winning season and no playoffs since 1998.

ESPN rumor page says Mike Sherman:

he Tampa Bay Buccaneers are extensively searching for their next head coach, and that search has included a wide swath of candidates young and old, with both defensive and offensive backgrounds.

While the team publicly insists that there is no favorite for the job as of yet, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Times reports on Wednesday that the feeling within the NFL coaching community is that former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman will be the choice.

I root for the Bucs and have no idea what they are doing here. I think the Glaziers are too involved with Man U and could give a crap about what is going on with their American football team.

I think it was all of the above.
Having an 8-8 season shouldn't be a reason to get fired; especially when most of your stars are starting to get long in the tooth. But he lost the fanbase starting surfer boy Johnson over fan fave Flutie. That kinda left him no margin for error.

Yeah, it's too bad. Purely a money driven decision as well. In the NFL you a a bottom barrel team that missed the play-offs and that not a whole lot of people outside the US cares about.

In ManU, you have one of the most poplular sports teams in the entire world. Absolute cash cow and all they need to do is make sure they keep up with ManCity to keep it going.

Sucks for the fans of Tampa.
 
I thought part of it was he wouldn't fire the special teams coach after what happened against the Tacks and it pissed off the front office.

The Glaziers seem to be in a bit of a mess regarding United. They're interest repayments are higher than they ever expected and they are competing against the likes of City who have money to burn.

Its difficult to see how United can continue to grow their own talent in a world where City can spend 30-40 million on each position for ready made players.

United is by some distance the most marketable sports team in the whole world, so its hard to understand why the Glaziers are struggling to make it work for them, I'd hazard a guess that its because, for all that America is all about capitalism, the sports scene seems strangely communist, the league as a whole looks after each other financially and then competes on the field. In Britain, you have to try and kill off your opponent and that takes a lot more work.

For all the Buccs may be struggling on the field, they will always turn a profit. For the Glazers, its United who will always now be their top priority because its up to them to put in the work, no revenue sharing, no free funding from the city in order to incentivise the team staying there, no salary cap to keep players' demands in check, just a real need to capitalise on the asian markets in order to keep the club affloat. And that takes a lot of time and effort to get right.

Just look at how badly it went for Gillett and Hicks at Liverpool to see how American sports owners can be naive to the challenges of operating in an environment where your profitability isn't simply guarenteed by being a part of a league.
