I hate ohio

I'm getting so much crap here. just because I walk around everywhere wearing my texans gear, and i'm in ohio, everyone just assumes i'm a front runner and only like them because they're in the playoffs. i've been the only texans fan in this area for YEARS.

ticks me offf. well houston, i'l see you in a few years lol.

LOL, Hey try walking around with a Heat shirt on. Then when you go back to wearing Texans gear it won't seem near as bad.

Strange, because I see a lot of Browns fans here and I've never called one of them a back-runner?

I have a theory about people from Ohio, that all of them are strange, I have never met anyone from there or PA that are not just not weird in some way. I am sure they have some normal folks, but have never met one...:)

I used to live in Columbus a long time ago and I learned that people in that state are super jaded when it comes to sports. How could they not be? All of their teams across the entire sporting spectrum have sucked for most of their lives (minus a few years here and there). In other words, they hate winners. We should be able to empathize, how do you y'all feel about obnoxious Saints and Steelers fans?

A lot of Ohio folk, esspecially from that northeast quadrant are Steeler fans...

The Steelers, Ohio State and the Penguins... not too too bad for some in Ohio...

It happens bro. I've been a Yankees fan since Donnie Baseball played, that would be Don Mattingly for the laymen, and was a huge Michael Jordan fan after the Celtics game in 1986 (Because my grandmother liked the Celtics)...

Let the state of Ohio wallow in their misery...They haven't won anything since Ohio State stole the National Championship from The U in 2002

I work with a Bengals fan who has relatives in Cincinnati. I wanted to have a friendly wager on the game, but it was refused due to the previous game. I was a lot more confident about the game. To be fair, though, up here the obnoxious fans cheer for buffalo or Philadelphia.

Ohio is garbage, I did some work there recently and its FULL of Steelers fans. Went to BWWs when Bengals and Steelers player and it was ALL Steelers fans. Then me, the lone Texan, Ha! The people are nice, but man they are not smart. Probably bad to generalize, but I would never live there.

haha, out here I live with a bunch of Seahawks and Raiders fans... with a moderate sprinkling of Packers here and there. The military neighborhoods have more of a mix though.

LOL! Well, I was born in York, PA. Lived there the first 7 years of my life, and then moved to Columbus, Ohio, and lived there for 3 before moving south.

I guess that explains everything, ay? ;)

And regarding Columbus, you'd better believe they are jaded. That's where Ohio State is. And I lived there when they considered Woody Hayes to be a god.

Don't worry about that man. Here in Tokyo, the most people don't know about the Texans. Other day, I saw a guy wearing Astro T-shirt and went up to this person to ask if he knew the team. Said T-shirt was on sale with very low price but doen't know anything about Astros. He wasn't even interested in MLB.

Hahaha. We have a couple random 2000-era Astros hat-wearers floating around from when Randy Johnson was with them for half a season or so.

I learn my lesson for sure. Of here they just buy things just because it looks cool and no other reason. You rarely find hard core NFL, MLB or NBA fans. Especially, Houston professional team. This is my main reason why I come here so often.

Go Texans!!!

I've been through Ohio when driving to/from New York and it is by far the ugliest state I have ever been to. And I've been to almost all the states. Columbus was one ugly city also.

I can relate in regards to Mattingly. I grew up here and was an Astros fan, but the only individual player I cared about was Mattingly. Once he was gone I no longer cared about the Yankees, but I still get a lot of flak when I tell people who my favorite player was or that his autograph on my baseball is my favorite. That includes the ones I got when I met Stan Musial, Harmon Killebrew, and Rod Carew. I know, I'm crazy that way.

I would temper my "I hate Ohio" because they're are a couple of very good Texans fans that hail from Ohio!!! *ahem* Yankee in Texas and also Adam!! These are Blue Crew members through and through!!!

While on the one hand I got pummeled with ice cubes in the back of the head at the game there at Paul Brown Stadium, my host treated us very awesome (yes, terrible grammar), in addition we were row ONE and he paid for our hotel rooms (thankfully in Covington KY and not that Nati). We woke up early Sunday morning and he picked us up, took us to his house where we had a fantastic breakfast w/ Mimosas... & would not let us spend a dime in his sports bar...

SHOUT OUT TO BRADLEY and his G/F!!!!!

Bottom line, they're are some good folks there.

Funny no one assumes I'm a newcomer to this party. Probably because I've been wearing the same gear for years (literally the same smelly gear) win or lose. Never ashamed, never embarrassed & quick to stand up for my team.

Now, if you've just got to Ohio & they don't know you yet, that's a different story & I wouldn't let that crap bother you.

If you were too embarrassed to wear your Texans' gear, well that's what you get..... live & learn.

Ok this is a good one for sure! I was raised a Browns fan in good old Canton, Ohio. Still am one for sure. I moved here in 1979. When the Browns moved and Bud took NFL football out of this town I was floored. When the Texans came into the league I gave them a shot. Loved the stadium, ownership and tailgating. When Cleveland came to town this year there were more Browns jerseys in my tailgate spot than Texans jerseys. I wore Texans gear. I love them as much as the Browns.Ok maybe more. So wear your gear dude. There is a reason I left Ohio. Great state to grow up in. And the amount of Steelers fans there now is disgusting to say the least. Turncoats one and all!!!!! Go Texans!!!!

Its called selective photos. Drive through that state some time.
I don't need to drive through it, I lived there for 11 years. I have hiked dozens of trails through forests and hills, spent time in the Amish country, been apple picking at gorgeous orchards, and visited the major cities as recently as July. However if all you did was drive through it, then I can understand why you don't know anything about it. If someone judged Texas based on their journey down I-45 then it would be readily apparent to everyone how limited their view is and how foolish they sound.

I married a girl from Ohio... she lived there for 40yrs, and states today, that it was 40yrs of time wasted when she could have been in heaven. If Ohio was a body part, it'd be the armpit... not as bad as a rectum, but when the wind blows right, it can be just as smelly. And yes, because her family still lives there, we visit far too often. If you put Pasadena's chemical plants in the Texas Hill Country, minus sunshine 7 months out of the year, you'd have the Northeast portion of Ohio...

Hey now, my wife was born in Ohio and lived the majority of her life outside of Pittsburgh (yes she's a Steelers fan) and the only weird thing she's done is marry this Redneck from Houston. But you know it seems to work since we just celebrated our 15th anniversary last week.

As for Ohio, I've been to some nice parts and I've been to some crapholes. I think it's about like anywhere.

As for getting crap, try being an Astros fan near Philly...especially the last couple of years when Wade traded all our best players for peanuts to the Phillies. Or try being a Texans/Oilers fan when neither team has EVER beaten the local team, the Eagles.

I get sooooooo much crap up here, but I finally got something-for some reason I don't see the "dream team" in the playoffs.

Just STOP with the common sense and rational thinking.

Here we are trying to have a perfectly ridiculous conversation about how crappy Ohio is and you have to try to inject some sort of positivity.

Is positivity even a word?!!?

I hate you people so much.

See, for me I was a big Clemens fan! So I followed the Red Sox and Wade Boggs/Mike Greenwell. I still follow them to this day, and I was so happy for them when they got their ring. Curse of the Bambino lifted! lol

In basketball, and I'll probably get negative rep for this LOL, but I loved Larry Legend. Dude could flat out ball, and while I am a HUGE Rockets fan, first time I saw Larry play was in the 1986 Finals against the Rockets.

In Football, my favorite player was Bo Jackson as a kid. I had the poster with the shoulder pads/bat. Almost all of his cards. I thought the dude was great. Read his book, "Bo Knows", which I remember being a good book, though I don't know if it was the fan in me or not....

As far as Houston sports goes: Dream, Biggio and AJ, all day. I loved the Oilers and I guess Campbell was my favorite, but I was young when I saw him play, other than that, I loved Chris Dishman and Ray Childress, dude was a hitter, well so was Moon, but that's a different story.

Sorry about that, I took a trip down memory lane on a completely irrelevant thread! haha

Let's not even talk about basketball. Loved the Rockets, went to games, and cheered for them above all others... but loving Larry isn't near a bad in Houston as my favorite player, Stockton. Ostracized is putting it lightly.

Don't feel bad about veering this train off course, I do it often and what I refer to myself as the digression king.

I feel that one too! We were the first from our family to migrate from Wisconsin. My whole family on both sides are Packers fans! Even my dad who grew up in Northern WI. He did take me to Oilers games and asks me often about what I think about the Texans but I believe deep down he's still a Cheesehead.

I did get a good laugh at my Cousin, they live in KS and attended the Packers at Chiefs game. He was sooooo excited before the game and for some reason he would respond to my pokes (all verbal) after the game...

Just wanted to add that I have the hightest respect for all the Texans Fans that do not live in Houston. We all put up with a lot more crap than those who live in/around the city but continue supporting, come hell or high water!!!!

GO TEXANS!!!!!!

*EDIT* Amazing80-I just looked at where you're living and my family is from just down the road in Burlington. Both my Grandparents are buried there and I still have relatives in the area. Wow what a small world.
