It took Drew Brees 27 years to break Dan Marino's single-season passing record. It is conceivable that Tom Brady could break his record 6 days after he set it:

If Brady throws for 500 and Brees for only 300, Brady will have the new record. The Pats play the Bills with a chance to lock down the 1 seed, while the Saints have essentially nothing to play for, so it is certainly within reason it could happen. We all know how much Bill Belichick loves the "F-You" records.
In theory, theres a chance Brees wont hold the record for long. If Brady has a monster game against the Bills, he could overcome Brees. Currently, Brady is only 190 yards behind.
