That means 3rd seed vs. 6th seed on Saturday and 4 vs. 5 on Sunday, right?

Last year the Saturday game times were 3:30 and 7:00.

The Sunday games were noon and 3:30.

Looks like the Texans will be playing Saturday, January 7 at 3:30.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not let it be on this date.

I will be filming a short film this day, I have waited 10 years to watch a Texans playoff game and I was planning on going to the first game!
:(:crying:

That schedule is in no way official. The schedule won't be released until after next Sunday's games. If Denver is in, I would expect the Broncos to get the Saturday prime time game, pushing the Texans to Sunday.

Why? So the whole country can see the worst "quarterback" in the playoffs?

I've seen it from 2 different sources. The OP has it wrong though.

Saturday it will be AFC game first followed by an NFC game.
Sunday, the NFC goes first, AFC 2nd.

I expect the Texans to be in the Saturday 3:30 slot based on the teams lack of a national following. Especially if the wild card games are on NBC. The Texans are the only team that has never been on Sunday Night Football and I suspect NBC will not want the Texans on the Saturday Night prime time spot. The only way I think the Texans make it to the Saturday Night prime time game is we end up playing the Jets. I think the Jets supposed national appeal might get us the prime time game.

It looks like the game will be on Saturday. There was a Monster Jam scheduled for the 7th but I read this on the Monster Jam website:

"The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam event scheduled at Reliant Stadium on January 7th, has been rescheduled to January 14th"

Doesn't mean much...they'd never have the floor ready in time from the 7th to the 8th anyway.

I heard a week or 2 ago that we will be the Saturday early game. This is the same person who swore there would be a Dallas v Houston prime time game last year. Of course...he never forgot to throw in the term "pre-season". lol

I need to know what day the Texans playoff games might be on?

I need to know in advance so I can ask off work... Damn you retail.

Interesting. I would think the number 3 & 6 seed matchups would be on Sunday, not Saturday. I thought the NFL postseason gave the highest ranking seed in the wild card round a Sunday game.

Now you know this is all about ratings. What kind of ratings do you think they believe a Bengals/Texans game would get? Don't forget the east coast bias factor either. We're lucky they don't schedule us at midnight among the info-mercials.

The Ravens or Steelers are going to have the 5 seed so that automatically puts them in the lead to be playing on Sunday.

Probably better than you would think, seeing that it's the only game on TV, it's the playoffs, and the gambling factor. But yes, it won't bring in the more casual Tebow follower, Cowgirl/Giant fan, or Steeler Nation.

Last year's wild card weekend ratings:

Saturday afternoon (Saints@Seahawks): 18.3
Saturday primetime (Jets@Colts):20.8
Sunday early game (Ravens@Chiefs):17.1
Sunday late game (Packers@Eagles): 22.1

Thanks!

Saturday 3:30 Central Time on NBC.

Now 1-15-12 @ 12:00 at Baltimore. Damn i want a late game, i enjoy night games, and we dont get to many of them

Bah. Early game on Sunday. 10am start here in CA. Nothing I'm not used to, but I like playing later in the day.

Early forecast calls for low 40s and "partly sunny" on Sunday.

If we win next week we will have that night game you're wanting.

In order for us to host the AFC Championship game we have to beat Baltimore & Denver has to beat New England, correct?

If NE wins, we have to travel there, right?

That is correct. You play in the top seed's stadium.

What?! A whole hour went by and nobody put "^^^This^^^"

Come on guys, your slipping here! lol

Anyway, because I like to add more to my posts, I think the AFC Super Bowl contender is going to come out of this upcoming game with Baltimore. I think either way, our D and B'more's D are too strong for either the Pats or the Broncos. While the Broncos D is respectable and will get better, I think either team can either host or go to Foxborough in the championship and come out a winner. Let's go Texans! I can't wait til Sunday!
