1st GBN Mock

beerlover

Hall of Fame
this is the first Mock Draft from GBN and as far as I'm concerned the beginning of the 06 mock draft process. A pretty beerloving list this early and hence receives beerlovers blessing. Just a couple of observations concerning the Texans. Bush will be the #1 pick if the Texans don't own it then OT is fine with me, which one has yet to be determined but Winston was the clear choice before his injury we'll just have to keep a close eye on his progress, but I have no problem taking him #2 overall. GBN has 6 tackles going in the first round with my now non sleeper 2nd rd tackle Whitworth going to the Chargers (awesome pick for them) #24. So if you guys want to trade down, don't trade down too far & try and be realistic, if you want to add players thats fine but this should be a good working 1st round start. For instance I noticed that Greg Eslinger was not selected in the 1st rd. the 49ers selected David Baas last year & this would be a fine time for the Texans to select Greg Eslinger C, Minnasota, imagine the Texans 1st two picks being the #1 offensive lineman at their positions in College Football?

My dissection...

I will burn my Texans jerseys if the pick is Winston. He is not even 1/4th the same player since his injury.

Brooks is far too high given he hasnt played much at all this year(one game).

I like Jacobs as the best QB in the draft, #7 may be a bit high, but he's the real deal.

MacNeil and Mike Williams could be two HUGE tackles in Buffalo, I like that one.

3 of those 4 CBs wont go in the first round, only Williams will.

DeAngelo Williams wont drop that far.

Couple rounds early on Carpenter, but the Pats could make it look like a steal.

What happened to Ferguson from Virginia being the first O-linemen selected?

I would rather have him at Number 2 than Winston.

He is injured. So he is up in the air right now. So i guess that was enough to give way to Winston.

I agree with you that Reggie Bush will be the first RB taken, and if the Niners do have the #1 pick, they will take him. Too much talent and potential to pass up.

Ahmad Brooks wont be that high of a pick. How many games has he missed so far? Yes, he could redeem himself, but he is, right now, a mid-late 1st rounder.

Eric Winston will not be a top 5 pick. Ferguson is more athletic, has better feet, and uses his body better than Winston.

There is no way that DeAngelo Williams falls that far. He won't fall out of the top 15. Yes, Maroney will be a top 10 pick (if he keeps up this type of play).

BTW, where is Mercedes Lewis? He is the best pass-catching (or overall at that) tight end in college football.

It's Just October Big guy, Relax.

Seven OT's in the first round prety impressive. WR's got picked over hard last year. Thought Pope might move up.
I forget which of the talking heads said it, but they pointed out that someone would make a run at Matt Schaub next Febuary. That would dilute the value of the #2.Also, The bolts are going to face a very interesting choice this off season. San Fran is stuck with another worthless #1. If someone falls in love with Lionheart will be interesting to see if anyone hocks the farm to move up. And then the second question is how far to move down ? I still believe the Texan's will get on a run. I have no evidence for this just a gut feeling. Don't believe they will hold the two pick.
And of course there is always the brain trust. I don't know Winston might be the perfect guy for this crew. A ton of tallent living in the dispensery. Like peanuts, lol...Bet ya can't eat just one ? He and Jop could play spades together will they're soaking in the tub.

I would agree that Brooks seems listed too high, given that he has missed the season so far, although I believe he is ready to go (again another reason to watch the Virgina vs Florida State game sat. night) but consider the team-The Oakland Raiders its not only good print but its fun and what you expect from them and they do need defensive help :tv:

Ahmad Brooks
Position:
LB College: Virginia
Height: 6-4 Year: So
Weight: 249 40 Time: 4.4

Pros: Nasty. Plays with a mean streak. Very athletic and fast. His instincts remind most of a Ray Lewis. Can play MLB and OLB also has been used as a fullback.
Cons: Raw, has not played much.
Overall: Potentailly much better than Derrick Johnson, he should be the first Linebacker picked.

some pretty bold statements so take them with a grain of salt, but don't say this scenero is so far fetched it could not actually happen. this is a remarkable early mock edition, they should start to evolve and change as we get closer to draft day, but I'll bet alot of these picks come close to reality

I'll be right there with you Blackbear.

I mean I like winston but if we take him number 2 overall I will be mcnair's front door with riot gear on.

We all know D Williams wont fall to 30th I dont even see him making it out of the top 10. I'm not sure SF won't go D though there is no standout in the #1 spot. I believe they'll trade out of it for the leinhart sweepstakes and pick up a lot of picks as they need a lot of help. Leinhart will go first. If we happen to have the 2 pick I'll take bush RIGHT NOW but if one of the LT's distinguish themselves I'll be all for that move instead.
