POSITIVES from the Indy game.

gafftop

All Pro
1. If Indy because of the win loses the No.1 pick. Very big in the big picture
2. If Kubiak is reminded that you can't go far with conservative mindset. Kubiak needs to approach the Titans game as the ultimate PRACTICE. Let's see what we can do if we run the 2 minute drill. Let's try to stretch the field. Let's see what TJ does if the chains aretaken off the offense. Let's JUST SEE.

If Kubiak goes into the Titans game with the same conservative BS, then win or lose we have learned absolutely NOTHING and Kubiak is the same old Kubiak and we have no chance after the 1st round.
3. Maybe the players understand that they need to be ready to play.
4. If Kubiak puts on his thinking hat and realizes he needs to get a little more creative. Maybe start utilizing Casey again I don't know. Maybe he goes Boise State and begins to think outsice box.
5. Nobody hurt. Closer to have AJ back.
6. Maybe McNair understands how important Wade is as DC and makes him an offer he can't refuse.

C'mon help me out.

Last one We are still in the playoffs. We have a chance. Remember "Any given Sunday"

That dumbass Jerome Booger and his crew shouldnt see a playoff game after last nights performance. good news for the whole nfl

2. If Kubiak is reminded that you can't go far with conservative mindset.

Isn't that most fans' biggest knock on him? That he IS a conservative guy?

Seems like the only time he goes rogue are bad challenges or going for it on a 4th when we shouldn't.

Yeah not sure about the whole conservative thing. As a whole, I would call Kubiak a pass happy coach. If he would have thrown the ball all night while Arian only got 10 carries at 7 yards a clip, fans would be going nuts as well.

In the playoffs, I expect him to ride the run game and depend on the defense. Who in their right mind trusts a 3rd string QB? The Steelers didn't with a young Big Ben...

We saw Ryan on TV during a commercial :)

Rep.

So something on 790 sparked my emotions when Schaub went down. At the time, I thought worst case scenario - and I posted it on here several times:

'Kubiak finds a way to get into the playoffs, and immediately has a total meltdown where we see the S.O.S. and a losing streak followed by an embarassing one and done playoff appearance, yet gets a contract exntension due to the playoff berth.'

Welcome to my nightmare folks.

I hope he finds a way to win in January, at least twice.

The last time the Texans lost two in a row, they went on a 7 game winning streak.

That none of us saw coming, or thought was possible.

Yeah. The last time we went on a 7 game winning streak we had a bunch of (mostly) tomato cans lined up in front of us. We've just finished losing to two bad teams and will get a chance to do it again next week.

Then lets see how easy it is to conjure up a surprising win streak against playoff teams.

POSITIVES from the Indy game.
???

I dunno?
I didn't have a heart attack? I didn't throw my remote through my TV (which actually happened after one game in 1993(ish) at Buffalo)?

*Disclaimer*
I did however smash yet another remote control on the floor.

I can see you aren't ready for the "POSITIVES" thread yet.

JJ Watt starting to beast regularly. looked like the best player on D by far last night

J.J. Watt is an absolute beast, last night he was pretty much unblockable. There was a run play where he recognized that they were running the ball away from him so he abused his man with an inside move and tackled their RB for a loss. Does not sound that great but when I saw the play I was stunned. He is superb against the run, only a rookie, crashed through the rookie wall, and I believe that he is going to get A LOT better (scary).

This sums it up for me. JJ Watt showed the NFL what the future of Texans football will look like.

God bless Wade Phillips.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This two game stretch was a "best case scenario" because we now know that without a doubt, Wade Phillips is the key to our success. If he gets a head coaching job next year, Herring is not the answer. We don't have an answer and we will have to start over again.

You hit the nail on the head Brisco. This D, and the team in whole, is on the way to bigger and better things!
As much as I want a Superbowl team right now, I know it takes time and we will be an ELITE team very soon.

If we're one and done in the playoffs, any offer Wade gets from another team for HC will be counter offered by McNair for Kubiak's job. McNair's exact words were "deep in the playoffs" when explaining the objectives Kubiak needed to accomplish this year.

Sorry but Kubiak isn't going anywhere. Hate to burst your bubble.

i smell collusion between the Texans, Tennessee and Jacksonville.. what say you??

Texans weren't involved in the collusion intentionally but I sure hope the Jags are. Could it be that Indy is playing so the don't lose Manninig?????

The positives.....well,....I've shrunken back down to my normal size and the shreaded cloths I wear were really old anyway.

Honestly, I find no positives yet. Ok, JJ Yates was impressive even by HIS standards, but that's about it.

I say No.

Collusion implies collective intelligence, the capability to execute plans successfully, and the inclination to cooperate.
Just like with our Congress...
You have no verifiable proof that any of this exists.

fixed it for ya.

Nice smiley. We might need to add that to our collection.

I wouldn't be so sure actually. Bob loves him some Wade. No joke. Both times we were looking for a head coach, he wanted Wade. Why he opted to not hire him is beyond me. If Kubiak goes one and done in the playoffs, to where it isn't even close, and Wade might leave for a HC job, I really feel like Bob will fire Kubes and promote Wade. Or at least ask Kubiak to become an Off. coordinator and promote Wade. No idea......BUT Wade needs to stay in Houston. I think even Bob knows that.

This season has shown me a couple of things. Look at us, and look at the cowgirls up in dallas. I have heard more than once, that we are now seeing the explsion last season really wasn't wade but more along the lines of his players just giving up. Now they are still mediocre, while our defense is thriving. I used to rag on Wade so bad. I think part of it was because he was in the little D. I was actually afraid when we hired him because I didn't want him to be HC if kubes couldn't get it done, because I was convinced he was a bad HC. But now I look at the job he has done, and I really think he would make a great HC for us. Funny what one good defense later can do for us.

Wade already has his defensive system set in. I don't think we lose too much on our offense if we cut Kubiak. Honestly, if we hold onto our Offensive Coordinator we have now there shouldn't be a drop off at all. So imagine if we go one and done, and then Wade gets an HC offer somewhere else. Don't be surprised if Bob actually pulls the trigger on Gary in favor of Wade.

McNair wants Wade in Houston at any cost. He's sensitive to the Phillips legacy, and you can bet that Bum has an inside line to McNair's phone. Where do you think Bum's endorsement of Kubiak came from at the end of last season? Wade is going nowhere, even if it costs Kubiak his job.

He's an emotional player, a great player. Colts got to make sweet sweet love to their mares, errr gals after the big win. The fact Colts fans keep them away from the rest of us feels like a positive.

I was impressed with how many fans were still in there seats at the end of that game.

Positives:

If I told in November you that we would have a third string QB and would go 2-2 against Atlanta, Cincy, Carolina, and Indy would you take it?

I think you would.

And then if you told me who the losses were and how they played it would take the fun right out of it.

I'm honestly not buying this, "how they played" stuff. That may have been ur best defensive games ever, and was definitely among our better running games.

We did not pass like the Houston Texans, & we didn't pass protect like the Houston Texans. But that wad a well played game overall, & 1:56 away from a win.

I won't have to hear obnoxious fans argue to get rid of Matt Schaub for our rookie, 5th round pick. That's a major positive.

We've got a long way to go before that book is closed. Especially with everyone saying Kubiak handcuffed the kid.

Disagree. The season has peaks and valleys. The team is currently in a valley, but help is on the way. Unless something catastrophic happens against Tennessee, AJ will be back. Daniels hopefully recovers from his knee. Perhaps Briesel (I can't believe I just typed that) will be good to go. Plus, we should have Wade back next week.

No team is invincible and every team has strengths and weaknesses.

Thank you, with witnesses like you who needs a lawyer?

See above message. I said (in effect) we didn't play well against bad teams...and lost. You guys counter with "yes, but you're wrong."

What he said, lack of a balanced offense lost that game. Texans really miss the passing aspect of their game.

Where am I wrong? You can't tell me we came our flat the way we ran the ball. You can't tell me we came out flat when we forced a turnover on the second snap of the game.

Our passing game was off. Gary's fault, maybe, most likely. But we didn't lose that game because we stunk it up.
