From Here.
I think I will cross off the cases as they become impossible. This will help us know who to root for the next two weeks.

FWIW, the site also says the best result for the Texans this week, other than the Texans beating the Colts, is the Dolphins beating the Patriots. So Texans fans, you finally get to root for Reggie Bust. :kingkong:

If the patriots loose one game out of their remaining 2, we get #1 seed
If the Ravens loose one game out of their remaining 2, we get #2 seed
If Ravens and Patriots do not loose any of their last two games we get #3 seed

Simple enuff :)

FYI : Ravens can win both their games and we can still get #1, as long as the patriots loose one

Nice to see this list for a change instead of the dreaded "who are we going to draft in Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, etc." list.

We are talking about the #1 seed in the AFC!!:kingkong:

Our best bet, IMO.

I'm not concerned about byes or home field advantage.

I just want the Texans, Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Jets and Broncos in the playoffs. Fine with me if they play one game here and the rest on the road.

That's right. If a team is good, you should be able to beat your opponent regardless of the location. But a BYE is a WIN !!! and you don't have to play so we need that #1 or #2 seed.

Or even the previously annual "why tie breakers mean we drop from #11 to #16 in the first round of the draft in spite of our equal record with 5 different teams and our need to draft player x who will be gone at #12"
Nice to be looking at these scenarios for a change. I'm ecstatic to reach the playoffs but it wouldnt half be great to get home field advantage, don't want to play outdoors vs pats or steelers in january if you can help it, and that's before you even talk about how loud reliant will be for opposing O's.

Texans beat Colts and Titans + New England loses one of their remaining 2 = Texans #1 seed.
It wouldn't matter what Pittsburgh or Baltimore does. That only matters if NE doesn't lose a game. If NE doesn't lose then Baltimore needs to lose one of their remaining 2 and Pittsburgh has to finish ahead of Baltimore for the Texans to get the 2 seed and a bye. That's it. I don't know why there's 55 "cases". Tie-breakers are tricky but it really is pretty simple.

When I was living in Boston (2004-2006) I watched more Pats games than I could handle. At least during that time the Fins always played up to the Patriots and knocked them off a couple times IIRC. It's not likely this year, but I wouldn't count it out.

I'd like to see the Jets miss the play-offs. I want to see how Rex handles that situation.

Well, your description is incomplete. That's why it's simple.

If we LOSE one of the remaining 2 games, we can still get the #1 seed. In that case, New England has to lose both of their games and Baltimore needs to lose 1.

We can also get the #1 seed if we finish with the best record. Which could happen if Baltimore loses 1 or more and New England loses both of theirs.

Of course, we also get a first round bye if New England loses 2, and we and Baltimore both lose 1.

And that's not even considering the Steelers who could get in the mix as well, if we lose a game.

Maybe a break for the Texans?

From Ravens Insider: Ravens WR Anquan Boldin will miss the last 2 games of the reg season. He's having surgery on his meniscus.

If they lose, what the hell does it matter?

I think that can happen, as well as the Bengals beating the Ravens.
