Foster needs to Step Up

srrono

All Pro
Foster needs to step up. Seems as if since we lost out starting QB Foster has been playing with out the same effort or intensity in the first half of games. The fumbles are driving me crazy. After the fumble Texans were playing catch up all game. B. Tate dont get a pass either needs to hold on to ball and step up. We have a rookie qb which in general is a liability we damn sure dont need our "Star RB" to be a liability as well.

Ya come on Foster, I can't believe you only a 170 total yards on offense!
You must at least score 2 TDs and get 200 yards every single game!
:listening

I do get where you are going, the fumbles and no TDs need to stop. These last couple of games have not been his best but we need a QB so we don't have to rely just on Foster. The offense as a whole however is at fault.

Man what the heck are you talking about he was our offense today the guy lead the team in rushing and receiving.

Our running game was not our downfall this game.

yes it was

1st drive
A.Foster left tackle to HOU 21 for 1 yard
2-9-HOU 21 23-A.Foster left end to HOU 26 for 5 yards (57-J.Senn). FUMBLES (57-J.Senn), RECOVERED by CAR-50-J.Anderson

2nd drive
B.Tate left end pushed ob at HOU 19 for -1 yards
B.Tate right end pushed ob at HOU 26 for 7 yards
all pass remainder of drive

3rd drive
B.Tate left tackle to CAR 38 for 1 yard
A.Foster right tackle to CAR 34 for 4 yards
all pass remainder of drive
result mised FG

4th drive
no run plays

5th drive finally get run game moving
B.Tate left tackle pushed ob at HOU 30 for 8 yards
B.Tate right guard to HOU 34 for 4 yards
A.Foster left end to HOU 39 for 5 yards
T.Yates pass short right to 47-L.Vickers pushed ob at HOU 45 for 6 yards
A.Foster left tackle to CAR 40 for 15 yards
B.Tate right end to CAR 35 for 5 yards
B.Tate left guard to CAR 33 for 2 yards PENALTY on HOU-74-W.Smith, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at CAR 33.
T.Yates pass incomplete short right to 81-O.Daniels.
T.Yates pass short left intended for 83-K.Walter INTERCEPTED by 57-J.Senn at CAR 31. 57-J.Senn to HOU 48 for 21 yards (62-A.Caldwell).

I know his totals were very good maybe i am not watching the same game you guys are because he seems to start really slow the last few game get his yards in 2nd half

Something I noticed on one of the replays of a second half Foster run was the way he was flailing his arm around in traffic .... only the hand and forearm making contact with the ball ..... It reminded me a whole lot of Jacoby Jones during his couple seasons ..... an accident waiting to happen.

Last few games he has had a gimped up vickers and a gimped up casey. We've been relying on guard pull and stretch plays. Teams key in on this, no fault to foster. Look at his yards after contact, he's at the top of the league.

Look at his fumbles .... two on the first drives of games that directly led to points for the opposition in recent weeks (Jaq's and today). Thats putting your team behind the 8 ball from the get go.

With a 3rd string QB they really have to limit mistakes.

Wow some one understands me lol

Foster milestone
For the second straight season, running back Arian Foster tallied more than 1,000 rushing yards and 600-plus receiving yards. On the day, he led the Texans with 109 yards on 16 carries and caught five passes for a team-high 58 yards. Foster’s only the fifth player in NFL history to achieve the milestone, but Foster was focused more on the loss.

“We didn’t come out with a lot of energy,” Foster said. “I take a lot of blame with that because when you turn the ball over so early like that, it kind of deflates the energy.”

Foster coughed up the ball on the second play from scrimmage, and the Panthers recovered at the Houston 26-yard line. He promised, however, that he won’t fumble again in 2011.

4 fumbles last 4 games. I would say something is different because he usually is sure handed. He is a great player and great contributor, but he needs to get back to himself holding onto the ball. 7 pts off the turnover.

:kubepalm::kubepalm: i hope he's right..

It's kind of narrow-minded to put this loss on one guy. The whole team played bad today. Third down went horribly on offense and defense. We only converted 2 of 9 chances while our D let the Panthers convert nine times in 14 tries. Steve Smith PWNED J. Jo today.

Carolina found the end zone three times in its first five possessions. Meanwhile we stumbled and sputtered in the red zone 3 times: 1st & goal at the 16 = FG; 1 & goal at the 7 = FG, 1st & goal at the 10 = INT.

We didn't do squat in the turnover dept. Weren't we on a streak of like 8-9 games with at least one takeaway? Didn't get a single one today.

But you say all that is Foster's fault?
....please

This was a collaborative fail.

I never said this loss is all Fosters fault. I am saying as the best offensive player on the Texans squad (without AJ) he can not be a liability and fumble the ball. He has to come out focused and lead this team offensivly to victory.

This was a collective loss. IMO, not ONE part of the team made a playoff team level of effort. Special teams, Offense, Defense and Coaching were all sub standard and let's not forget that there was some pretty darn good play by the other team, in particular by a really talented young rookie on their side. I suspect Cam is going to be a MAJOR player for many years in this league and the Panther could be a playoff level team if they have an offseason like we did and get a major improvement in their Defense. They get the improvement like we did, look out NFC and NFL.

Have to stop turning the ball over. I'd take less yards from him if it meant he didn't fumble on the first drive of the game.

this is ridiculous, maybe you should check the stats for how many fumbles a RB has had in their first 3 seasons...

Adrian Peterson had 19
MJD had 6
Matt Forte had 6

Older:
Emmit Smith had 19
Walter Payton had 30!!
Barry Sanders had 19

its not all doom and gloom...get it together people...

IMO, we should've fed Foster and Tate a lot more than we did. This is one of the only times I've questioned play-calling. We started gashing Carolina running the ball after a while and needed to stick to it.

This is like the AJ needs to step it up thread.

I think the "AJ needs to step it up thread"s were warranted. in 2009 Aj & Schaub stepped it up big time & led the team to 9-7. If they were to have rested on their stats, we more than likely would have been 8-8 or worse.

Aj barrelling his way into the endzone & dragging DBs & LBs for 4 & 5 yards was exactly what we needed.

Arian Foster single handedly put us in a hole 2 games in a row.

He had a great game after, but we've got a 5th round scout team QB taking us into the play-offs. We can't be satisfied with that, we need to be thinking Super Bowl & Arian Foster is going to have to step up his game.

Period.

Arian does need to step it up. Bottom line. Fumbling doesn't count as stepping up. That being said, Kubiak fell in love with his young QB yesterday and stopped running the ball. Our only TD was a result of us running the ball.

I was waiting for a "blame Kubiak" thread. I agree he is as culpable as any of the players, but I won't go so far as say our game plan was completely off.

His job, as head coach, is to asses what happens in a game, adjust, & give us a chance to win.

To me, that game was over when Tj threw that Int with 7:25 left in the game. Had we scored there, it would have been 28-20. After that Int, we had no chance.

We had no answer for Cam Newton & the Carolina Panthers at that point, couldn't get them off the field, couldn't get one more possession much less 2.

Wade would have been helpful. Mario would have been helpful.

I'm not blaming Kubiak. Just saying we went to Yates too many times. It was evident that if we applied our run game, which is what we did when the win streak was at 5 games, we probably could've started to wear that defense down. If anything, I figure this to be the game that we could afford to lose and in doing so there is nothing wrong with getting your 3rd stringer used to going back to pass. I also think that Owen Daniels didn't help much this game. Lots of dropped passes.
