what player(s) will you focus on vs Panthers

I will focus on Cam Newton and hope to locate him on the ground a lot.

On Texans, probably Quin.

Permanent spy on Cam, I would prefer it be Quin also, since he's been showing a great nose for the tackle between the DL and LB levels.

I pretty much always concentrate on the lines.

It's going to be interesting to watch Caldwell and how he helps or hurts the chemistry of the unit.

And then our defensive front 7 to see if we can get more sacks this game. Cam's mobility really worries me but so do their RBs.

Cam for sure. He makes it easy to over look Willams and Stewart. An argument could be made for Steve Smith... He's a speed guy, but definately smaller, which will play into the strength of JJ. This game will be determined by the front 7's ability to keep the Carolina back's in check. Carolina has a horrible defense this year. TJ and co. should be able to keep the game in favor of a Texan win at home.

I am not too terribly concerned, but just like any other game, I will be nervously anxious.

cushing.

he would be my answer with wade on the sidelines, but with reggie calling the shots our defense is even more hinged on what cushing does. i said elsewhere that i think he should play a contain-blitz (similar to urlacher against vick and tebow - before they went cover 2), and that's what i'm most interested in seeing.

i'm also keeping an eye on arian foster ... he's been off the last couple of weeks. kubiak's going to stick with him regardless of production, so i'm hoping he finds his groove again.

Vickers just came back last week after missing two games with a hamstring injury. I'd say that's part of the equation.

I wanna see if Foster and Tate can take advantage of the defense they will face. I will look at how our front 7 will contain a running QB.

Not focused on a player but a coach, Reggie Herring. I want to see if he is gonna be just as aggressive as Phillips is or is he gonna go conservative?

I am hoping he gets aggressive and they put a beat down on Newton....

According to NFL network, we are playing the Packers this weekend. My fear factor just increased.

I guess I will be watching Aaron Rogers. :kitten:

I thought we weren't playing the Packers until February?

Packers Panters, six of one, half a dozen of the other.

It is probably expecting too much for the NFL Network to distinguish between the two.

They were doing a story on injured players and mentioned that the Texans aren't expecting Andre back for the Packers game this Sunday.

Hopefully he will be back for our Packers game

I heard that too Katie! Dumba**es!!

We won't be playing the Packers in Feb! It's MY dream year dammit, and I'm calling for a NINER/TEXAN SB!! :bat::)

On topic! I'll be watchin Barwin and JJ Watt!! Barwin will get at least 3 sacks, and JJ will bat down a couple balls! Hope our D is ready cause I see balls flying around in our favor!!

I normally watch the receivers...... but I gots to work this weekend, & will have to watch it off DVR (after the fact).

I'm really interested in what Cody is doing. Trying to gauge the need at that position. If a first rounder is supposed to be an instant starter, we're running out of positions in need.

Steve may be vertically challenged, but he's not a small guy..... dude's pretty stout. He's physical, fast, & a pretty decent route runner. Back in the day, I thought he was nigh unstoppable.

That was until he got himself thrown out of a Cowboy game a while back. He was so frustrated he grabbed (accidentally??) a ref & they tossed him.

It may be in our best interest to get the little booger riled up.

:cow:

I will likely try to pay a little bit of extra attention to Caldwell. It isn't always easy to see how a specific O-lineman does when watching the game live though.

I am glad that Caldwell had a chance to play with the first team this week rather than come in during the last game to relieve Brisiel. Hopefully that will smooth his transition. I think most fans had Caldwell pegged to be a starter by now. Wonder what happened? Is he that average or is Brisiel better than I think?

Caldwell is more talented but Brisiel is meaner and willing to get in there and fight and scrap more. Brisiel is better at getting the job done.

I'm thinking a little bit of both. Most of last season, they shared the spot, this year they came with Brisiel all the way.

I don't think "our" stretch system is completely installed. This year we've been pulling Wade a lot more & running what looks like power O. We hardly run any middle zone runs, & I saw one play last week where it looked like Myers was pulling..... either the play didn't work very well, or Myers got blown up pretty bad on that one.

So, if I'm right & they went with Brisiel over Caldwell because Brisiel was picking up the new stuff better... Brisiel has beat out Caldwell & that's not such a good thing.

Did anyone watch Caldwell much? I saw him one play and he seemed to be struggling against what appeared to be a big old DT.

Caldwell looked ok, a little rusty, but I saw a lot of pulls and advancing to the second level which we didn't do much of with Brisiel, which means Winston & Myers are also having to do some things they haven't had to do before.

I think they'll get better over the next couple of games. Because that's what they do.

I guess the fact that people aren't noticing Caldwell is a good thing right?

Isn't Oline one of those positions where not noticing them is a good thing?

I'm still hoping Caldwell steps it up to the next level and wins one of those interior line spots next year. I was REALLY high on him.
