I wonder how many of those actually were in the air for 74 yards like Lechler's was? It's funny that Cunningham is on there.

Here's a video of his punt. Doesn't show the whole thing though

That's just it, most of the other punts included a roll. Lechler kicked his from the 10-yard line to the other 10-yard line, 80 yards in the air; then it bounced and rolled into the endzone where it was downed. So, it went 80-yards in the air, a total of 90+ yards, and was a net 60.

People used to think Davis was crazy, but he knew what he was doing when he drafted Jano and Lechler. One shortens the field for the offense, and the other lengthens the field for the opposing offense; that combination works great together, as the Texans found out earlier in the season.

And it didn't even happen at Denver.

Note how the record punts are so old -- old flat stadiums susceptible to high winds.

I doubt those old guys were stronger. ;)

And for the ones in the '80s and '90s, often rock-hard Astroturf instead of the softer "field turf" they have on most NFL fields that aren't natural grass today. Balls could roll a lot longer with less rolling resistance on that stuff.

Ahh, good point.
