I would like to see some big time picks on the O-line, and a new TE, with another WR threat on the field.

If not Jason Avant, I would go with a linebacker like Abdul Hodge ILB Iowa.

2) DE/OLB Darryl Tapp, Virginia Tech
3) CB Will Blackmon, Boston College
3) TE Jeff King, Virginia Tech

With Ferguson's injury I think that McNeill would be the safest option. Adding Tapp would give the defense a proven playmaker, who can rush the passer. Blackmon is a solid CB who will only get better under Hoke. And finally King is the TE who can catch and block the offense has been missing since year one.
 
You've got the right idea there DC, because with the exception of Verand
Morency, everyone of our first day Draft picks over the last 2 years have
been for D players. So no matter how much help we might need on D, the
O side of the ball is much more desparate for help.

REASONING:​

D'brick will be the top LT in this draft and quite a few to follow. We need a feature LT and now is the chance to take him.

I also believe Withworth will fall under the radar until the early 2nd...(our pick) and i believe he could replace wade while also providing insurance. I feel he makes a great RT.

Devin hester provides raw talent from Miami with some fire. He is lightning fast and has great hands, he has also been used at wr for miami just to give you an idea of his hands.

Byrd is the tightend for the defending champs. This kid can catch. he is also part of the OL that protects the defending heisman winner who doesnt seem to get sacked.

Howard is going to be a value pick for any team. he is a VERY hard hitter and seems to make plays everywhere on the field.

3rd Round - Manny Lawson - OLB/DE, North Carolina State - PLAY MAKER. Probably on drugs thinking he'll last this long.

4th Round - Will Allen, OG, Texas - Straight homer pick. Brings a nasty disposition greater than any OL presently on Houston's roster.


These five players bring an attitude and identity this team sorely needs.
 
This is kinda sad for me, the only thing I am excited about or looking forward to right now is the draft...If Ferguson is there when we pick and we trade down, I swear my head will explode... :bomb:
 
I've got to see D'Brickashaw Ferguson play, but its going to be hard since he's been hurt. The only game I've seen him play in was last season and he seemed more of a LG ala Pitts. If this is the case then the Texans should move Pitts to LT now and see what he can do. However Mankins clearly outplayed him in that game & he lasted until the end of the first round where New England took him 32nd & now starts as their LG.

Unless I see it with my own eyes I'm not jumping on D'Brick Bandwagon :cool:

I have been most impressed with three tackles so far and they include Andrew Whitworth, LSU, Jonathan Scott UT & Winston Justice (JR.) USC. So if the Texans do have the #1 pick they could draft the top RB/playmaker Bush and let one of these three tackles fall into their lap with the 1st pick in the 2nd rd.

Well, this season seems to be tanked - here's to hoping we can hang on to that #1 draft pick. If we get that I think their will be enough teams fighting for Leinhart that we could make a sweet trade. This team has a lot of problems and we need to draft as many quality players as possible 'cause we sure as hell 'aint gettin 'em through free agency. Come the start of next season I want to see at least one good O-Lineman, a quality #2 reciever, someone who can pressure a quarterback, and a backup qb.

While we're playing armchair GM, I'd trade down from 1, where we'll likely be picking, to 4, picking up a 2nd rounder in the process...I would then draft Ferguson with the 4th overall pick, Davin Joseph with the 33rd pick, Leonard Pope with the 36th pick, Jay Cutler from Vandy with the 65th pick (to learn from whatever vet QB we bring in for a year), and Manny Lawson with the Saints' 3rd rounder...

I really like Mike Hass, but I figured he'd be more of a slot receiver in the NFL. Perhaps I'm not giving him enough credit for his speed, but he does have excellent hands and knows how to get open or find soft spots in a zone.

2nd round? Being from texas, I'm sure you saw him against the Longhorns, if you think that's 2nd round talent (and speed) then you may be certifiably insane.

What I am saying is the Broncos have 2 first round picks. Also as you can see I am referring to their 2nd first round pick.
 
I don't think this team can go one more year without a bonefide LT prospect.

Round 1
OLT
(Along with Pitts and Hodgdon, hopefully we have 3 solid starters for years to come)

Round 2
(assuming we are still playing the 3-4)
either a CB or pass-rushing OLB

Round 3 (X2)
Draft a blocking/receiving TE. If necessary, trade into the bottom of the 2nd to get one.
With the other 3rd rounder (assuming we still have it), draft whatever we passed on in the 2nd round (OLB or CB).

My only worry about that animal is that Louisville hasnt played supierior talent this year but he is a hoss.
 
Elvis Dumervil DE 6-0 256 is a NFL tweener, he would be a pass rushing OLB in the 3-4. I've seen him play and he does have a nose for the football, good lateral speed, quick burst/reactions & variety of pass rushing moves very much like a seasoned NFL DE. I did not see Babin play in College but there is no reason to think otherwise thats he is a similar talent & worth a 2nd rd pick. He too plays with a high motor like a David Pollack or even a baby sized Warren Sapp.

Another guy who really impressed me was their fullback/RB Michael Bush 6-3 240. He is a true power back with excellent athletic moves alot like last years Eric Shelton 2nd rd pick in the 2005 draft of Carolina. I'm not sure what they are feeding these guys but here a couple exciting NFL prospects to watch for sure. :tv:

I'm going to throw one more thing in there. If all of these picks happened then I would trade back into the third round and get.

IMO if we have a top three pick we should trade back to around 8-15. Pick up another first rounder and probably a second or third rounder. With the 8-15 pick take the best LT left on the board. Then use the other picks on LB, RG or LG, C, TE, CB.

We allways draft small school prospects or weird projects

ATTN: All D'Brickashaw fans, tune into espn sat. night and see for sure if he is the real deal or not, you make the decision don't listen to draft guru's before you post he is the second coming of Orlando Pace. facing Florida State will provide a good test of his pass blocking skills, assuming he is healthy enough to play, he missed a major game last week against BC & Mathias Kiwanuka (injury). we need a gauge by which to measure his skill level against the best College has to offer not the weaker teams who have lesser NFL talent, remember the Texans 1st pick last year was a Seminole

I dont think any of the LT's as good as they are will be worth what appears to be a future #1 pick in the draft making. So I'm hoping if that's the route we go (which everyone knows we need too) that we trade back a little and pick up something nice in the leinhart sweepstakes.
 
To me its simple. If we have a top 2 pick. Trade back to somewhere in between 7-12. Get another first rounder next year and a second or third rounder this year. Take the best LT with our first rounder this year. I think most teams would make that trade trying to get Matt Lienart or Reggie Bush.

He can sit........for someone else. I like leinhart a lot but its not a matter of texan security to bring in ANOTHER when you haven't fixed the texan nation's internal structure ....i.e. OFFENSIVE LINE.

I mean what will he be sitting LOOKING at? Our QB be mauled every play. That's not learning anything....its reason to kick yourself for not coming out last year.
 
If we draft Matt Lienart without fixing our oline first im going to go crazy. If we did draft him and make him sit out a year our oline will still not be fixed. Wait until 2007 or 2008 to draft a QB then make him sit one year. By then all our problems should be fixed oline, #2WR,TE,Pass rush.
 
Why do we need a #2 WR? Give Mathis a chance. He's looked good so far. Gaffney at best is consistent. AJ is still the man.

A TE definitely a #2 WR not so much. :texflag:
