So we need two more wins....

You're just kidding? It was the first name to pop into MY mind.

Within 0.5 seconds of thinking about which guy to choose.

If we win our last two division games, we're a shoo-in. As far as players we could afford to lose at this point, just let them be on the PS. You never said they had to active....

Ok lets look at the schedule

Atlanta
@Ciny
Carolina
@Indy
Tennesse

Even with Lineart I was expecting a win with the falcons but not any more. I hope they play terrible but we will most likely lose.
@ cincy will be tough, however they almost got beat by the browns today...I guess we will have to see how things turn out. Luckily during these 2 weeks the titans play @buffalo and then vs the saints. I see them losing both games.
I think we beat carolina and Indy
If we get at least 2 wins the the last week wont matter we would have clinched.

Go play with the playoff predictor to see what all can happen

I wouldn't write off Carolina as a win until TJ shows he can deliver. Carolina, in spite of their record, has an offense that can put a lot points on the board. If our offense can't get clicking under Yates, it's possible that Carolina could come to town and embarrass us. No matter how good your D is, you have to score points to win games.

As for the rest of the schedule, we should be beat Indy...but everything is more or less is limbo until we know what we really have in Yates; the training wheels need to come off and soon - or we're f#@ked.

EDIT: Then again, according to the PO simulator - we can still get in at 9-7 as long as we beat Indy; I assume we would be one and done (We'd be playing Pitt at home in what I got).

I have no doubt we'll be able to run the ball against Carolina. I knew we'd have trouble with the Jags.. we had trouble last time, at home. I know we're going to have trouble with the Falcons (#2 run defense) I know we're going to have problems with the Bengals (#3 run defense).

But we're going to run the ball on Carolina, keep Cam & Steve Smith on the bench & give ourselves a chance to win in the 4th.

Atlanta is the only game I think will be "difficult" even though it is at home.

Tennessee don't want none of this.

We will go 3-2. Loses the next two weeks against ATL and Cincy. We will beat Indy, Carolina, Tennessee. Remember guys foster went crazy against Tennessee last time in our 41-7 win. Seriously guy remember we beat the ****ing TITANS 41-7

Doesn't mean we will beat them again.

Obviously anyone picking out players to injure is demented, so nice going fellas. Also, sacrificing KJ wouldn't bring the Texans a win over Pearland High School.

KJ
We don't really need Mason anymore. 10-3
Foster & Tate. Don't need Ward. 11-3
Caldwell ain't playin' much. 12-3
Garrett Graham? 13-3

First round bye. :)

Division Playoff: Daniel Manning. Hey, we got by without him alright.

Conference Championship: Jonathon Weeks (just to make it interesting) :)

Superbowl: TJ Yates. We still win. :breakdance:

Still not convinced about Cincy, just watch them barely beat Cleveland, the same team the Texans put a beat down on...

Our magic number is actually 3. Just about any combination of 3 wins from us or 3 losses from the Titans gives us the division. I'm thinking that the Titans lose the next 2 weeks @Buffalo and at home against the Saints. That would mean the best they could do is go 9-7. If our only win is against the Colts then we would be 5-0 in the division and we would clinch it that game if the Titans lose the next 2, or any 2 games the rest of the year.

Call me crazy, but I think we'll have a decent chance to win next week at home against Atlanta. We haven't had a home game in 3 weeks so Reliant will be rocking. We'll have to find a way to become more balanced, but I'm hoping Kubiak pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

I think (hope) Cincy is going to look like TampaBay when Cushing gets his mits on Dalton.

We've just got to find a way to run against their #3 run defense.

I know the vogue thing to do around here is hate on the Titans, but that's a veteran club. The Bills youth is what's been hurting them. Youth & injuries... we've seen it, lived it.

They won't beat the Titans.

New Orleans will beat them. Hopefully Jacksonville can eek one out, then us.

Not saying it because its the "vogue" thing to do. I'm saying it because Buffalo is a tough place to play (especially in December), there will be bad weather there, and the Titans historically don't play well in the state of the New York. While its a desperation game for both teams, I think it sets up better for the Bills seeing as they're coming off of a game they should have won and will be upset and ready to play.

Like I said, I think they lose the next 2 games.

I hope you're right. I'd rather see the Bills Wild-Card weekend than any other team.

I don't think either of those teams gets the wild card. The Jets, Raiders/Broncos, or Bengals will make up the 2 wild card teams in my opinion.

If we could somehow manage to win next week I think I may go streaking around my neighborhood. I'd probably be that excited. We beat the Steelers with a dumbed down offense after Andre went out. Schaub was a non-factor so its entirely possible.

I'm saying if we get into the play-offs as the 3rd or 4th seed, I'd rather see the Bills as our opponent.

Raiders/Broncos won't be a wildcard. One will win their division, the other is out.

& I'm rooting against the Jets.

I'm just no longer excited to see the Texans make the playoffs. Yates and Clemens are taking this team nowhere. Who wants to see the Texans slaughtered by the likes of the Steelers or Bengals or Jets in a playoff game at home.

Maybe I'm watching a different team. We are talking about the Texans right? Even the Bills would slaughter the Texans. The Texans would have lost today if Yates would have started.

You could be right about the Raiders/Broncos but the Raiders are 7-4. They're getting in for sure in my opinion. And I can no longer bet against Tebow to not will his team in. I keep saying every week he can't pull it off and because of the killer defense they're playing and timely playmaking on offense they're a team that has a shot to get to 9-7 easily.

The Bills scare me only because of the weapons they have on the outside and if Fitzpatrick gets hot he can cause problems. I hope the Jets get in for personal reasons though.

Tennessee plays outdoors, so I don't think that will be much of a problem. Buffalo lost Fred Jackson, while CJ seems to be finding his groove: 23-190 IN THE COLD RAIN. Still, it took a trick play on a kickoff return to put the tAcks on top. I just don't see being able to call this game until it's over. Weather won't be the deciding factor.

With 5 weeks and 3 less than stellar teams to practice against, I can see Kubiak, if he's at all the QB guru he's portrayed as, getting a good feel for Yates and putting him in situations where he can succeed. I don;t see that as being run-run-pass-punt, either. Yates has a different skill set that he brings to the table, and as long as the game doesn't overwhelm him, Kubes should be able to find a comfort zone and gameplan for it. Right now, Kubes needs to plan to win the winnable games (Carolina, Indy, Tennessee) and make Yates as comfortable as possible. Hell, with our D, we might still run the table. Gotta keep the faith.

Where did I call it a game? I just said "I think" they will lose. Go to the Titans message boards and even their fans are thinking weather will be a factor. I watched 1 of the worse played games recently with the Titans losing in New York. Can they win? Absolutely...... But "in my opinion" I "think" they will lose. That better?

I don't think the Bills would score 14 on us. Totally different game when Watt & friends are putting Fitzpatrick in a dress.

9-7 won't win the Wild-Card, they'd have to win their division at 9-7. Meaning the Raiders would have to lose at least 3 games.

No. I think you're overrating the Bills and underrating the tAcks. As far as the tAcks MB's, they're hillbillies. They don't know any better. What has 4,000 feet and sixteen teeth? Front row at a tAcks game. :kitten:

9-7 if definitely a possibility for the 2nd wild card. The Bengals have a tough schedule ahead so 7 losses is easy to envision for them. The Titans, Jets, Broncos, Titans and Bills already have at least 5 losses. 10-6 probably gets a team in, but 9-7 could do it too.

I'm not overrating or underrating anyone. I gave an opinion on who I think will win. You're assuming things my friend. The Titans have a quality team, but I just think they'll lose next week. If you feel differently then I wouldn't think you're wrong for it. That's why its an opinion buddy.

Fair enough. I think the tAcks have a good chance.

I never want to see the Texans get slaughtered but if you give me a choice of no playoffs or playoffs, I will choose playoffs every time.

Ladies and Gents...

Prepare yourselves for some ug-leeee, old time, Bucc-Ball.
Hold the other guys under 17 pts, score on defense, kick several FGs, and pray that Foster & Tate can find the end zone twice a game.

JJ Watt will play the role of Warren Sapp, Cushing will play the role of Derrick Brooks, and Johnathan Joseph will play the role of Ronde Barber.

Hey, it got them to the playoffs several times and won them a Super Bowl.

I disagree. Yates showed some pocket presence and an ability to keep a play alive, If he can avoid turnovers, I think he'll do OK.

Nobody wants to see our team slaughtered in the playoffs.

But you are completely fooling yourself if you think this city shares your pessimism about making it to the playoffs. That would be a glorious week (or two if we get a bye) and peace, harmony, and rainbows would be coming out of our butts as we hold hands roasting marshmallows while sining kum-by-yah as a fanbase.

We are still taking 'baby steps'. We need a first-time-to-make-the-playoffs-in-franchise-history moment as a team and fanbase, regardless of how it ultimately pans out. You don't scream at your baby when he takes his first steps because you're upset that he's not doing cross country hurdles.

Relax. Enjoy the moment. We're 8-3, two games ahead in our division. That's a first right there. Appreciate where we're at after where we've been for so long. Savor it.

There will be plenty of time for hand-wringing in the future, so don't lose sight of enjoying the moment as a fan.

I think we can. I just checked their schedule and I don't see where they've gone up against as good a defense as we have and came away with a win.

@CHI - L - 30-12
.PHI - W - 35-31
@TB -- L - 16-13
@SEA - W - 30-28
.GB -- L - 25-14
.CAR - W - 31-17
@DET - W - 23-16
@IND - W - 31-7
.NO -- L - 26-23 (OT)
.TEN - W - 23-17
.MIN - W - 24-14
@HOU - ??

Do you see where they've beaten a team with a good, smash-mouth defense. I really don't.

I think we may be able to hold them to 17-20 pts.
Then again, that could be the Koolaid....

We've played the Steelers. They didn't slaughter us. They didn't Slaughter KC (last night) either. I don't think they'll be slaughtering us in the play-offs.

We'll play Cincy in a couple of weeks. I don't think they'll be slaughtering us either. AJ Green & Andy Dalton look good, I ain't gonna lie, but so do Cushing, Watt, Reed, Barwin, Quin, & Jjo.

The Jets. Still not seeing a slaughter, not with what I've seen from that group.

Even with the rook under center, I think we match up well with those three teams.

New England... not so much. Baltimore on the road.... not so much.

But the teams you mentioned, I'd pay to see those games.

Still don't get it, you can't sacrifice backups for big wins. Sacrificing the place kicker might get you a first down. Maybe. Like they bring the chains out to measure. If this was the case then why have we been sacrificing Mario and AJ and Foster and.......

Two things jump out at me from that list.

They only put up 14 points against GB who's got a horrible pass defense.

They put up 23 in a win on the road against the Lions who have a pretty stout D.

Detroit's defense hasn't been all that amazing this year. They've only held 3 teams under 20 points all year and just 1 since week 5. That includes giving up 35 points at home against Carolina and 37 points against a good, but not great Bears team. Atlanta can be slowed down easily. The key is forcing them into 3rd and long situations. Their line struggles with edge rushers so I can see Barwin and Reed having big days if we take care of business on the 1st 2 downs. They're 14th in sacks allowed and 19th in QB hits allowed so we can definitely pressure Ryan.

I have been waiting for the day to purchase my Texans flag for my car, and drive around proudly in DFW. Don't care if we get slaughtered in the playoffs. I just want to look at my TV guide and see the Houston Texans vs. "___" for a playoff game. It will be sweet.
